Korean age is about 1 or 2 years more than your international age because they consider the year in the womb as counting towards their age, so everyone is 1 year old at birth. So if I'm actually 20, I'm considered 21 years old in Korea. And we might not understand all of Jin's dad jokes because they might be Korean puns/play on words, but his laugh itself is funny enough!

Here something you guys need to understand BTS isn’t really like your average kpop group or like any other boyband and American artists out there. Despite bts being the biggest kpop group , boyband and group today , they weren’t always that popular . In fact they were always the underdogs and have always received mistreatment and disrespect from the kpop industry and hip hop community
For example RM and suga are both underground rappers . People view hip hop / rap as REAL ARTISTS meanings you wrote your one music and show nothing but toughness ! People who view kpop idols as “manufactured “ . Meaning you have zero control of your own music and only do this for the money. Rm and suga got a lot of hate and insults and we’re called “ sell outs “. However bts company bighit entertainment is different . Their one of the few Companies that let their idols have creative control. Sadly they’re isn’t that many companies that let their idols have control over their music .
There are three Kpop companies that rule the kpop industry . Sm , JYP and YG . Korea top three and richest kpop entertainment companies . Nicknamed
“ the big 3” anyone who didn’t came from the big three would get looked down on or think your at a disadvantage. The big 3 ruled and had a lot to control of the korean media. Bts didn’t get much publicity or promotion because the korean media was controlled by the big 3 and didn’t had the financial resources to do so . So they resorted to social media. Also their company didn’t afford much and couldn’t pay for a rich and luxury housing apartment for bts to live in. It was 7 members that shared one room . Little by little their fame and respect grew . But sadly they faced a lot of hardships and struggles . From bullying , false lies and rumors , accusation of stealing music and concepts , death threats , harassments, etc . Even petitions from jealous fans and companies sent to the korean government to try and disband bts .
However bts and their fan base the army work hard to overcome here obstacles . And look where their at now . Biggest kpop group , biggest boyband , and biggest group surpassing all American groups today .
The video that has Jimin accident is called Blood, Swear and Tears. Its their best music video in my opinion, and the one that took them to another level in kpop industry. That video and his album, Wings, is all based in the book called Demian,and its talks about grow up and lost your inocence to the sins in the world. (Sorry for bad english, brazilian here haha). Fun fact: Jimin has the word Nevermind tattooed on his ribs that we get to see time to time and I think it's related a lot to the clip you saw with Suga. "Engrave it on your chest". He hasn't directly said what it means but from what I've heard about a fan sign event he did mention to someone there that A: it's real and B: it's really personal/important to him. In general we try to respect his privacy and not make a big fuss over it. If you don't have it yet they have a phone app called Weverse which is sort of like twitter but the boys can and do reply back to us, but not often. They also will randomly go live to chat with us on another app called Vlive - I have it just fine on my laptop and all of their previous streams are there including their variety show called Run BTS which is hilarious because their true personalities really shine through. Whew that's a lot to take in but I enjoy watching your journey to better understanding the boys and why we love them like we do.

This video needs to be update but it does help to recognize each member. So much new information. Example: Jimin has a black belt I kendo & taekwondo, he also won many hip hop street battles but this makes him sound like he is only a contemporary dancers. V, just wrote and sang a song that is in a Korean drama. They also don't talk about how V & Jungkook are very good artists. Each of them have special things that do that are not in this video. Fun fact..bts never do lipsync..they suck at it..thats why their live perf mean a lot for them and army..they feel like cheated on army if they do lipsync..that show how much they love and appreciate army..and thats why all bts members always upset if they didn't give the best of them..when they sick their voice will cracking..obviously..and army understand that..but the pressure they're carry is already big enough and small mistake can damage their heart and be hard of themself..for army..as long as they happy and healthy..nothing matters.

In Korea, you are 1 year old when you are born and then as of January 1st each year, you age another year. Therefore if you were V who was born on December 30th - he is 1 year old then 2 days later on January 1st he is 2. It gets confusing so you are not often asked your age but what year you were born when meeting people. Things to remember. RM - literally a genius with an IQ of 148, Jin had NO background in singing - sings like an angel and although he appears very confident, he is actually very shy. Suga - appears grumpy but is literally marshmallow. JHope - loves making “noises” and is walking sunshine. Jimin - very insecure, a little less nowadays. Always felt he was not good enough. At one stage starved himself - ate 1 meal in 10 days - just to look better. V - used to be know as the “alien” - very 4D personality. He has grown a lot and sadly that side doesn’t come out as much. JK - gives his Hyung hell, but he is the apple of their eye. They dote on him and he gets away with a lot. The others used to be intimidated by his strength. Lol.

for anyone who's new to kpop: welcome to the world of kpop!! a ton of people find kpop through bts and obviously they are probably the most famous kpop group out there but there is SO MUCH to discover!!! every group (and there are soloists too) has their own style of music, some have amazing rappers, some amazing dancers, some amazing vocalists, but all of them are so talented!! each group also has their own fandom, own tv shows (quite a few were made from survival shows), and their own personalities!! in kpop there are ballads, rock songs, edm songs, r&b songs, rap, everything you could think of!! and 7 members is pretty typical for a kpop group, the number of members ranges from around 4-21 (yes, there is a group with 21 members)!!! once u fall into the kpop hole, it's hard getting out :))) for bts, i'd recommend their songs "Blood Sweat and Tears", "Fire", and "Spring Day"! Some of my favorites! i know bts is a lot to start with but here are some of the other most standout groups (in my opinion) that you should definitely check out in order to appreciate all the different kinds of sounds and visuals in kpop (it may be a while before you want to check out new groups but hopefully you could save this somewhere or smth for future reference)!!
1. Blackpink: 4 girls, probably the most well-known kpop girl group as of now, first kpop artists to perform at Coachella!! Badass as hell but actual cuties off-stage :) Only one of them is actually from Korea, the other three are from Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand! i'd recommend checking out "Ddu-du ddu-du", "Kill This Love", and "Boombayah"!
2. Mamamoo: 4 girls, badass VOCAL QUEENS!! three incredibly talented vocalists and one rapper (who can also sing really well), their voices are definitely super mature and deeper than what you would expect of 'bubblegum kpop' but their music is sooo good and damn those high notes and live vocals!!! i'd recommend "Hip", "Starry Night", and "Egotistic"!!
3. NCT: the one with 21 members!! NCT u may wanna save for if u get used to kpop, because it's concept is rly unique! Bc there are so many members it's split into several sub-units, NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream (fixed unit YAY), and WayV! I won't explain them bc it would take too long but their music is dope! They have some of the best dancers and rappers in kpop (taeyong, mark, ten), and theyre also super global with members from germany, us, canada, china, japan, and more! i'd recommend "Black on Black" (18 members perform in this song), "Cherry Bomb" from NCT 127, "We Go Up" from NCT Dream, "The 7th Sense" from NCT U, and "Takeoff" from WayV!
4. Twice: 9 girls, known as the "Nation's Girl Group" of 3rd generation kpop! they have a more 'bubblegum' concept and are probably what you would imagine when someone says kpop, but nevertheless you can't help but fall for them!! they are so incredibly cute and talented and their songs are so catchy!! Their choreography is getting better and better as well :) my favorites are "feel special", "dance the night away", and "likey"!
5. EXO: One of the most legendary boy groups in korea along with BTS, they performed at the Winter Olympics! They are probably the vocal KINGS (counterpart to Mamamoo? idk just my opinion). They officially have 9 members (2 in the military), and their 3 main vocalists can seriously make me cry with their vocals!! And their songs are iconic too!! "Love Shot", "Tempo", and "Miracles in December" are my favorite :)
6. Stray Kids: Relatively new group (debuted in 2017), 8 members. They have two Australian members and and an INSANE rapline (they rap so fast)! Their songs are mostly produced by 3 members of the group (3racha) and the lyrics of their songs are always so meaningful and emotional and often inspirational! My favorites are "Hellevator", "Astronaut", and "My Pace"!
7. ATEEZ: known as monster rookies (debuted in 2018), they are one of the best dancers in kpop, individually they are not super well known but together they have INSANE stage presence (their visuals, confidence, and facial expressions on stage are unmatched)! They have 8 members (usually groups try to have odd numbers bc it is easier for formations) but their choreography is so satisfying!! U should check out "Hala Hala", "Wonderland", and "Wave"!
8. SEVENTEEN (kings of beautiful choreo and synchronization), G-IDLE (queens of concepts + SOYEON), The Rose (boyband, plays their own instruments), Dreamcatcher (closest thing to k-rock music), Red Velvet, ITZY, Got7, Monsta X, etc. I really can't choose 7 groups i seriously love sooo many groups!! I know I probably threw way too much out there since u just discovered BTS but I just get so excited seeing other people get interested in kpop :) if you think this is way too much just ignore this comment i guess haha but hope this at least helped give u a sense of what's out there! sorry for this overly long comment :)

Don't be pressured by the tons of suggestions etc., I know we may be quite a lot to take in, but we just want you to get to know them mad see how amazing they are! 💜 You can find all their official music videos from the channel "ibighit" (that's their company's channel and there's other artists' stuff too) and then the channel "bangtantv" is theirs too. There you can find behind the scenes of music videos, choreography videos and bangtan bombs and bts episodes which are videos just from their life and performances etc. Those are the official bts channels. Older videos don't have English subtitles, so for those videos just search the video + "eng sub" and you'll find videos with fanmade captions😊 Then there's tons of fanmade videos like this one about the members, their story, explanations on their songs' meaning and the storyline and funny compilation videos, etc. BTS release content like every week (their company has an app called weverse where the members chat with fans, and on an app called vlive they'll have lives with the fans and there are weekly episodes of a show called run bts where they play games etc) so there's so much to see, so no pressure with trying to take it all in quickly 😄 Enjoy the ride! It is so exciting! Bts will keep blowing your mind! 💜💜

And if I were you, I wouldn't go into the storyline quite yet. Get to know them first through funny videos, interviews, music videos, behind the scenes etc. Also there's often deep meanings in upbeat songs, so I suggest you check out some explanations videos for them. dkdktv is a good channel for that.
I personally would check out "bts from nobodies to legends" and "bts crash course 2020". They're really good fanmade videos for new armys that summarize their journey and music.
Oh, another thing. Always watch the videos till the very end. With bts, there's often some surprise still left 😄

I highly suggest you watch mv's and some live performances before actually starting the storyline that everyone else is talking about. It can be quite overwhelming when you start with it too soon. :)
i think the best course to take is this:
the most recent album (map of the soul: 7), title and side tracks
then all title tracks
and then work your way backwards!
i suggest whenever you react to a song, to try to find a live performance as well if there is one, because those are gold and never really reacted to!
for good live performances, 5th muster concert from last summer is great as well.
** for the record. for the storyline that they mentioned that runs through the music videos, i'd suggest diving into that LAST, because even veteran fans have no clue how to piece it together. it might be better to get a better and sturdier hold of them first before trying the bangtan universe!
also, i really find it hard to find genuine reactors as mostly people react for clout, but the way your falling in to this whole really reminds me of me so i cant wait for more videos and seeing your journey!

Korean age is different from international age. They believe when they was in their mom's tummy, it counted as 1 year. So, for example someone was born in 1999, by international age it should be 21. But by Korean age it'll be 22. Add one year to their age.

They were really surprised when they won their first daesang (grand prize) but currently at Mnet Asian Music Award 2019 they just won 9 awards including 4 daesangs (artist of the year, song of the year, album of the year, world-wide icon of the year) as well as Melon Music Awards 2019 they won 8 awards and again including 4 daesangs (artist of the year, song of the year, album of the year and record of the year)..... I've just recently subscribed to you, but it feels like we've been going through this BTS journey together. I did listen to BTS in 2014, got to know the boys and everything, but then I just... stopped listening k-pop for five years, I think? I just rediscovered them this year, ironically during this quarantine. I've been binge watching your reactions to them and getting to know them again too.
And my bias is Tae too, even though I'm all OT7.
the members that I can relate to more are Suga and Jimin. Suga because im also an introvert who prefers spending time on my own, and with what he went through with family and things I now exactly how he feels.With Jimin I also struggle trying to be perfect at everything and I can totally relate to him in that way as well as many others that's why Jimin is my ultimate bias and why I have grown so fond and close to him
Also Jin's joke is a korean pun. So he says "what is it when a cow sings" his response is a lawsuit. The korean word for lawsuit is sosong. If you split up the words so and song you get the korean word so which means cow and the english word song. So basically it would be a cow song.

This video kinda made me cry. It feels so great to see someone , who is not judging them. They’ve been through hard times yet they are on the top. Also in award shows you can see that they are trying to be inspiration to other idols in kpop. They have beautiful personalities and once you become an Army , you don’t really have to know them well but you still can feel their love for us. They lived a lot also they had and have so much pressure , people ignored them and they didn’t listen their sentences but BTS is speaking with their lyrics and the lyrics come from their heart and their experiences. Anyways i talked too much but i just wanted to say. Im glad that you loved them. Btw they have an album which is calling ‘Love Yourself’ please check out that too🥺🤟🏻
