Awesome, someone with the courage of her convictions! Outstanding !
thank you for this wonderful event, great space for non-woke people
Fantastic lecture! I remember when Roger passed… I immediately purchased several of his books as a tribute to his memory. I am so glad that I did. His brilliant mind and warm spirit was a gift to the shallowness of our age.
Brilliant, I could listen to her for hours! Thank you
Huge Admiration for Lionel Shriver in THIS household. My brother & I are big fans of her novels and interviews.
These two ladies ..and David Starkey are amazing . More power to them . Truly brave ,eloquent and sane people in a world which seems to be losing its mind. I hope more of their kind will contribute to ending the insanity ..for all our sakes .
One of our (and America's) best writers. Not on the reading lists of any British university, though, I'd guess. The time will shortly come when ignorance reigns supreme in the education of our young. Keep your personal library sacred.
I love Lionel!
Wow! Two wonderful "real" women. Lionel Shriver was simply mesmerising. A brilliant lecture. Thank you very much.
Magnificent.
This is absolutely brilliant.
Sir Roger Scruton held to his values and his language which was beauty and truth.
Brilliant. I have been making the same points, in print, for years, but as I am not one of Shriver's literary heavyweights, no one has been listening. I'm glad the voice of reason is at last being heard, anyway.
Next hurdle: find the unwoke publisher...
Thought that Sir Roger Scruton should be amplified by talking about truth and beauty
Lionel, Rod Liddle & Bill Bryson would be my dream dinner party guests.
Referring to the last article I read by Lionel ( one of the last few I read before cancelling my Spectator subscription altogether) where she said she was going to vote Democrat despite how bad Joe Biden would be. She just wanted to see the back of Trump and "just wanted to be bored again".
So Lionel, are you bored yet?
She wrote another article titled *I backed Joe Biden. He has been a terrible disappointment* You might want to check it out.
Well, I have my grievance .... I was not abused as a child (or any other age for that matter)
It is obvious that nobody in society had the decency and thoughtfulness to abuse me and thus give me a lifetime of grievance.
I even knelt down in a church, my pink cheeks inviting .... but nothing .... nothing!
Oxford comma? Pry it out of
my cold dead hands.
God bless clarity.
Unfortunately, the moderator dominated the post-lecture part. She forgot who the audience had come to hear, and what her role was.
The 60’s had their problems along the same lines just no one talks about it
The annexing the word GAY
return it to all
word appropriation that marks the creation of an identity, appropriating its meaning
The subtleties just seemed to go right over the heads of the audience - did they turn up for the wrong gig?
So many witty comments fell on apparently deaf ears.
Bring Laurence Fox in as speaker for this lecture series. He will be far more interesting and has the experience to do Sir Roger Scruton proud. Have you all cancelled Laurence Fox??????
lol who hurt you
