  • The Lynx have started out red hot. Is it just hot shooting or are they an elite team on their way to the WNBA finals. We take a deep dive As well we look at the Caitlin Clark snub. Will the world as we know it end?

@B2S: You ask “Is Collier taking the step into elite star status”. My friend, she is already there.

@arthurmiller9434 if you had your choice of Stewie, Wilson, and Thomas - who are you taking? I think right now she sit 4th. as she needs to make a playoff run to move up IMO. BTW don't get me wrong i love her game and think they have something in her and Smith. Cheers

@@back2sports You referenced Collier in a way that implied she was not yet a tier 1 player. I disagree with you on that point only. I happen to agree with your ranking of forwards: Stewart, Wilson, Thomas, Collier, then Nneka Ogwumike. All these players, like Collier, easily transitioned from the college game to the W…an indication of their skills, ability, etc..

If the MN Lynx remain healthy they will be a championship competing team. They are not only good offensively but they are also at or near the top of the league defensively too. MN got all of the FA acquisitions on point this offseason. They solved their PG issues both in terms of the starter and backup at the position. They also upgraded at PF in FA with Alana Smith who has been a relegation to me offensively. I love how head coach Reeves pushes Nepheesa Collier to play outside of her comfort zone offensively. I think her husband is pushing her to get there too as he is an NBA skills trainer. I’m sold on the MN Lynx I could see them at least making the semifinals if not the finals.

I think the Lynx are a year, maybe two away from truly challenging for a championship. They could reach the semi's this year as they play in the West. Right now my way WAY too early prediction is Seattle and LV with the Lynx a dark horse for the Western finals. I do think next year or the year after they could be a force. I think in her third year Pili will be someone to mention on these videos. She's kind of the most underrated of the '24 rookies, her game reminds me of Charles Barkley a bit.
Caitlin not selected for the Olympics, I kind am with that. I understand the other perspective but that's a business marketing perspective and not a basketball competitive perspective. Clark is a great talent but she's a rookie. She's having a hard time adjusting to the physical WNBA game she will be dumpstered in FIBA ball. She is not adaptable and seems to need a specific offense built around her and you can't expect WNBA All Stars to adapt to Clark's game. I think asking her to learn and meld with a team in the few practices they get she just isn't experienced enough. Then she is not close on of the top 12 players in the league, I don't think she's even top 20 now. That's not a diss on her, she's a talented rookie and I expect by the next Olympics she'll be a top 5 player.
Plus, putting Clark on the team you lose so much. The press and every f'n thing will be about her and I want to hear about the GOAT contenders Stewie and A'ja sharing the paint on the same team, I want to hear the arguments about if this is the most talented, experienced, and best women's basketball team ever assembled, I want to see if Chelsea Gray is fully back and watch her eating defenses alive, I want stories about..... I do not need another: "why isn't Caitlin in the game at clutch time?" "why does all of USA Basketball Hate Caitlin" "The Coach should be fired!" "All the other teams are targeting her because they're jealous"..... Caitlin's a great talent but I'm just so over the hype. I'm a basketball fan from long before Caitlin entered the picture and would like to get a little basketball new and talk between Caitlin stories and rants pieces. She is not great for the game; she is great for the business and marketing of the game.

Btw Back2 Sports Diamond Miller has been back. She returned earlier in the season but its obvious she is still having issues with her knee. The surgery was for a torn meniscus.

    • @back2sports
      @back2sports  Před 2 měsíci

@calvin.4682 think you are off on this one Calvin she was recovering off season from right knee surgery. then injured her left knee 3 game into season. Reeves said in press conference that scope did not show anything unexpected so she should be be back 6 to 8 weeks. Cheers
from ESPN on 29 May 2024
Diamond Miller underwent a successful surgical procedure on her right knee and will be out indefinitely as she recovers, the team announced Wednesday.
Miller, injured the knee three games into the season and had been making her way back from a separate injury to her left knee she'd suffered playing overseas this WNBA offseason that required surgery.
She also previously underwent surgery on her right knee in 2022 during her time at Maryland.

Great video! I agree. The Lynx are definitely going to be in the mix for a championship this year. I say that as a true blue Liberty fan. The Lynx are just too good not to be in the running. Like you said, they have all the parts the guards are shooting the lights out, the bigs are doing great, and can also shoot from outside. Napheesa has always been great, but this could be a year where she pushes the Lynx to a championship, and I say-more power to her. I love her style of play, skills, competitiveness and she's just a really nice person, and a great teammate. She's also been my WNBA crush since I started watching the league about 5 years ago. She's gorgeous! Anyway, the Lynx have all the parts they need to make run for championship. Should the Liberty falter and not have success, I definitely want the Lynx to win it, in fact, the Lynx are kind of tied with my Liberty in terms of me liking them.
As for Caitlin, I am pretty sick of hearing about her. I think she's a great shooter, passer, and can drive. I think she'll be one of the greats but some, as you know, are using her to divide and create animosity with the league and many of these people probably don't even watch the games, it's a narrative they're using to push division. Personally, I think Arike would've been a good addition to the team, and she's "showing out" shooting and hitting amazing shots, even as her Wings are losing. I still think Diana is a great player as she nears the twilight of her career. She's an amazing shooter from 3, mids, and can drive. She is a pretty good passer. Her defense isn't great but passable? I think the Committee probably thought that against other national teams post players would be more needed than guard play? That could be correct, not sure. I also think Caitlin needs a year, maybe two, under her belt before she faces that type of competition in that type of setting. Anyway....great video!

Napheesa Collier is already there as an elite player but Coach Reeves is pushing her to get even better, be more talkative and aggressive. Like I said previously I suspect that her NBA Skills trainer husband is helping in that regard too.
On CC maybe I'm too much of a dreamer but I think she is gonna make US Olympic team through injury because Chelsea Gray is struggling like crazy to come back from her foot surgery. Btw Boston had her best game last night. She generally has looked unfit for most of the earlier games. Also, Boston is not on the US Olympic team.

BTW I can't wait to see the Unrivaled games get started in Jan '25. I think Phee and Stewie are doing something really cool with the league. I have watched most of the Women's (and Men's) FIBA 3x3 US Olympic games and most are really fun, exciting games! I know the format will be a bit different, and that is part of the intrigue. That game tends to be pretty fast paced, physical and a match with quicker players vs bigs.

They're built like a European (old-school USA) club with a handful of tweener/combo/postionless players. 94 feet, spread the floor and the first to 90 points wins. Collectively, they're faster than NY and LV and deeper than the Sun and Storm. They're fun to watch.

Caitlin was not a contender for the Olympic team at all. She turned down the training camp invites (which is a requirement to attend in order to even be selected) in order to focus on the NCAA championship (which is completely understandable). Expecting her to be on the team due to whatever hype surrounding her is not a good enough reason. I’m not picking, but she lacks the experience in the pro league to even go at it against bigger and more seasoned international players. What is Clarke going to do against a 6’4 and up player?? She isn’t even blocking a hem here.
Those women will chew her up. She is just adjusting to the physicality and mental understanding of the pro league at home. Boston didn’t make the team, but there is no talk about that. Caitlin will have to work for and in the next Olympics, she should be more adjusted and ready to go.
