VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 23. 09. 2018
- đ± Tom Dwan has been quietly building up his stack in the Jeju Cash Game and was given a rather good hand with Ace-Queen. However, Paul Phua, who straddled, had lady luck on his side as the Malaysian business tycoon was dealt the pocket Aces. The action resulted in one of the biggest ever televised pots in Poker History.

"I'm all in." "Call." "Fuck." - Greatest dialogue ever.
"What you got AK?" "No, better." "Oh no!"
AQ is actually not that good of a hand, dwan found out the hard way lol.
@@bekeneelhe was 5bet bluffing , he knows hes not getting called by worse, lol
5:43 I love Phua's laugh when he see's Dwan's garbage hand.
He laughed twice, when he sees what Dwan had and when he showed his hand (5:47)! :)
Everything is garbage vs Aces
ye looks just like an orangutan
Nice to see him rub it in a bit to the mad bluffer
@@Living_the_Highlight nahhh at least dwan couldâve had high pockets. Kings, queens wouldâve looked nutted on this board...lmao he shows AQ off
If this was pokerstars dwan would make quads with his queens.
Very scary to play at ps with AA

Well at least it wasn't 7 mins of Tom creepily staring at the middle of the table mouth breathing
Have respect for duur please
llooll. Yeah i could've definitely imagined how that would've looked like.
God he used to be so much more fun to watch.
why all this thinking process pre flop
it has no justification
it's not a call on the river
it's pre flop
Only movie scene
@@augustomaramonte9619 Because it was staged. "In the summer of 2014, Paul Phua, linked with the notorious 14K Triad - one of the largest international criminal organizations in the world with an estimated 25,000 members - and his son Darren, along with Richard Yong and his son Wai Kin, all friends of Dwan, were arrested in Las Vegas. According to several reports, âdurrrrâ helped the Phuasâ case and paid their $2.5 million bail alongside Phil Ivey and Andrew Robl. He also helped one of Phuaâs friends with a place to stay during the trial."

Phuaâs infectious smile and laugh is priceless. Awesome pot!
More like repulsive.
Gayest comment ever
The commentary explains the use and purpose of the straddle better than any article I've read.
Awesome commentary Lex!
Doyle Brunson says, " AQ will get you in trouble more often than not."
Fold or shove imo. A rule of thumb I was told when I started was never flat with AK/AQ. Decide if you want to reraise, and if not, fold. It's worked. When I've ignored that and flatted I've paid the price.
@@joojoojeejee6058 how was he in position? He was BB, Phua was UTG which means Phua will act after.
@John Manci agreed. Even against JJ, your AQ isnt exactly ahead.. just a coin flip... and his AQ not even suited.
@John Manci I think id you realize how rarely phua raises preflop it's not the hardest thing to put him on AA or KK. So I think in that situation it's never a call, and almost never a reraise. Paul demonstrated strength and AQ off is a mediocre hand. Maybe dwan wanted to represent aces and put phua on kings
@@nicodurr729 how hard is it to understand a straddle
That was pretty fucking hilarious. at 5:40

Damn, I remember when Durrr was the baby-faced assassin. Tommy looks tired.
Lol to be fair that was like 12 years ago ago when he was 21 hes now 33... you're gonna age naturally a bit from 21 to 33
But no doubt thst lifestyle no matter how good you are will age you
2008 Durrrrrr 100% wins this hand :( 2018 Durrrrrr has no chance :(
I wonder how deep in makeup Dwan is to Phua. Something tells me this isn't one of those "quit poker to get out of makeup" situations. More like "play for me until the day you die which may be sooner than you think if you don't start winning" situations.
lol

That is one HUGEEEEEE pot
Just Oh my God O__O.
I would be interested of the thinking process that made Dwan in his head in the hand.
Thanks Triton Poker for these incredible videos !
"lulz I have an ace I'm going all in folks"
Because Phua's range was wider than Serena Williams' hips.
Everytime I watch Triton i'm like "did people ever watched that blind croupier?"
Tom is called a legend not by the accident , he will go through such a lose and will keep satisfying us with his brilliant genius
He did
I' am by no means an authority on poker. However risking 2 million dollars pre-flop with AQ just doesn't seem like a good play.
Raymond Phillips. With the benefit of seeing cards yes. However the guy (Phua) with AA was the straddler he has an added incentive to steal Dwan was trying to win without showdown. 10s or JJ or anything less Phua might fold and so might AK. AA or Kk is roughly 4% of his range
If Phua loves to call all the time and see showdown it is a bad play however it is always good to err on side of aggression which was what Dwan was doing
nope, and I'm not a pro, he had to think there was a/k or a/a with the $$ bet
Thats the reason you're not the pro...he can always have AK or AA but you have to consider the odds. You are not there, so you cannot see what action has taken before my friend.
If you seen tom dwan play before you know he is a loose cannon. Thats sometimes the danger if you consider what others think of you and you try to figure out what they range they put pressure on you considering the situation. You win pots but can lose massive ones like this.
But i dont know who phua is so on him i cant judge. But others on the table had their opinion ready so maybe not such bad play. As their are only 2 options fold or all in. He didnt do nothing wrong
I broke out in nervous sweat just watching the first 75â° of this video...
K-Q is the winner ...
Si ganaba el otro men con esa mano, q loco
yeah, lucky for hua that dwan 3 bet before flop.
The lesson: never fold.
elvis316 the lesson shut up lol
@@elvis316 :-D
Not a terrible play given his reputation and that most players are playing this way with a much wider range vs tom as opposed to other players. There are so many more levels of thought involved here and not just âhe overplayed AQâ. Tom is easily top 5 in the world in NL cash games and has consistently beat the best over years and years.

Can all the youtube highrollers stop trying to understand the though process of a man who plays the highest stakes in the world, these guys have played for 2 day sessions where millions come and go.Can you imagine the dynamics and history in these games
itÂŽs 3min. for fucking preflop decision. he multy-tabled online poker in the past 2 days straight. wioth secounds left to act.
only newbs or bad players judge a hand or a player based only on one hand. thats one u cant really judge, of course that AQ was lite dwan knows it, but us viewers have no idea of the dynamic of that game. if durr didnt fold that AQ its because theres 440k and it also mean that dwan knows that player to be capable of playing back at him especialy in a straddled pot. we've seen dwan make way harder fold than that. but anyways like u said all that mean nothing cus none of us playing that stake at the end of the day.
Thought obviously. If you had a brain its pretty clear that i missed the T you weirdo

I love Dwan, but the reaction from Phua when he sees the AQ cracks me up
I completely love Phua all the way through. Happy, calm relaxed, giving absolutely zero away. I did used to be a big Durrr fan but he does seem to have lost it a bit.
@@truthrecords9053 I can't imagine just punting 1.3mil on a single hand when you have a net worth around 15mil. That's like 7% of all his money gone just like that. Phua is probably the only one at that table properly bankrolled for those stakes. No wonder he's so calm.
For the people saying its bad, it doesnt have to be. Tom has probably played several hundred of hours against Phua. The 5:40 reaction when Dwan shows his hand is hilarious lol

Oo, Patrick playing too. It's almost like the old days. Anyone know how well he did?
Phua gave off every strong tell in the book
You don't need a poker tell in this situation. Holding off suit AQ against a mega 320M bet was enough.

why? What do you think big time gamblers do when theyre broke? Save the last million?
Billionaire backs him
Thomas Labelle he is broke. There is a lot of legit sources he owes money to a lot of people, he gets backed into games. Staking is a very common thing in poker.
I think it might be time you guys stop believing everything you read online, the facts are he's been playing for years in Macau in games that are, at a minimum 5k/10k and sometimes go as high as 25k/50k and it's well known not just by internet rumors but by actual players that he was the biggest winner in those games the first 2,3 years he was there. Obviously over time I'm sure that group of players has shared some actions but to think he's broke is being completely delusional.
1:10 how about almost using Dwanâs chips
Tom has a steal balls. đ€
I love how he says âoh noâ in the Chinese accent lol
should be a fold but depending on hand history between the 2 players and how loose he can be especially if he has seen him get out line when he straddles before. Standard fold to a player you've never played with before though
Curious how much he must be worth to be able to call the size of a mortgage on AQo. Imagine as a percent of his net worth how incredible that pot is
7% of his net worth, on a single hand preflop. Truly insane. Unbelievably enough Tom has seen worse. He once went from 5 million to 1 million just in the span of four months. Guy has absolutely no respect for money. Phua is probably the only one at the table properly bankrolled for those stakes.

When Triades wants best show and Pots..you have to do it :)
The stradle was fuking lucky move
I like to take the last ten hands I've had and decide what my chances of the next two cards being great if it's my turn to straddle, nearly every player I know will get 2x the big blind but I'll get anywhere from 8x big blind to literraly all in depending on how confident i feel my chances are.
@@4BJLOVEMYCOCK Well that shows you have no clue about probability or statistics. The hands you got previously have nothing to do with the next hand you will get, the chances of getting AA is the same whether you got AA the previous hand, or if you got 7 2 off suit the previous hand. BTW if you are going all in because you "feel confident" you will get a good hand, you should probably stop play poker and start playing roulette.
