- The Lion King marked the pinnacle of Disney's Renaissance era, blending story, music, and animation flawlessly. However, its portrayal of hyenas and monarchy now appears outdated. Despite its initial success, the franchise faltered with direct-to-video sequels that failed to capture the magic of the original film.

Currently making my cat watch the scene where mufasa dies so we can see how easy he has it
Damn.
God hard to believe this is 30 years old. I feel old...I vividly remember watching this at our local drive in as a kid....time flies. It's a classic of classics.
_"One day, lad, all of this will be yours."_
_"The curtains?"_
Monty python reference spotted 🎉
Perfect😂
I fell sorry for whoever feels prompted to critically reevaluate the fictional monarchy of these talking cartoon lions...but I am grateful I won't be wasting any of my time doing that
Wow this guy must be fun at parties
Reality scares these people and they cannot accept Fantasy story's that should really scare you.
Yet, no mention of the fact that there are only two male lions. So, Nala is either simbas half sister or cousin. No modern values in question there?...
Is this written by Chat GPT?
The best Disney animation movie of all time 🦁🍿🎥
What a mindbogglingly simple analysis. What was your prompt?
It's a children's movie people...stop taking it so seriously.
Disney movies aren't just for kids, you know. 🤷♀
Not really. Disney back in the day had a difficult task, make it appealing for children but keep the parents entertained. Not easy.
@@danielshim7550 No. Walt Disney himself said that his company makes movies for both kids AND adults to enjoy.
@@1992disney Yes. That's what I said in a different way.
I’m getting sick of people bringing up Kimba, especially since most people haven’t seen any the anime or even know which one their promoting. Literally the picture of Kimba they used was from the 1997 movie, which if my math is correct, is 3 years after The Lion King. I literally just watched YMS video on it last night so it irks me that people still claim it as a ripoff
oh my God !!! you guys ruin everything
The 1994 lion King is my favourite movie. It’s my favourite Disney movie that doesn’t involve Robin Williams.
I haven't seen this yet but I have my bingo card ready. Let's so how political this is.
*edit* so it's about monarchy and how the hyenas are a stereotype.
“Coop”
Whenever I hear the phrase "Hakuna Matata," I miss Greg Giraldo a little more.
You can get out of any piece of media pretty much anything you want to get out of it. Most of what we see in the world around us is behind our eyes.
If your goal is to look at a piece of classic family entertainment and concoct sociopolitical takes on what parts of it you find bothersome or offensive, you will succeed.
But you also won't have many friends.
I don't give a care about "modern values" or "stereotypes". That's also extremely presumptuous to assume that everyone shares the same "modern values". Then again, most people are mindless automotons. The original is a classic. Not everything has to be dissected with a microscope. No wonder life isn't any fun...
This is the kind of thing adults write about at universities now. Overthinking Disney cartoons. Actual grown-ups do this.
Coup - the 'p' is silent. It's a word of French origin.
What's a SAffer doing at Screen Rant? and attempting to tear this movie apart of all things....
Uh I have the 3D version and this Film is a 2D masterpiece. If you find anything wrong with this. Here is the problem. No matter what you write or do when it comes to Art. Someone will not like it or Hate it or get offended because a creature or character they liked dies or the story ends not the way they wanted it too. Please STFU and go home, if you do not agree with this. This is Fantasy Story and not what you call Reality. The problem is people do not want to accept Reality and that is really really starting to scare me and that should really scare you all.
Absolute monarchy? ITS A KIDS MOVIE ABOUT ANIMALS YOU WANT THEM TO HAVE SOME RHINO AS PRIME MINISTER
@ 1:43 betrayal*
Number 2 is just number 1 but because of scar
What’s a safa doing at Screenrant 😅
Oh for the love of God just leave it alone
Oh my lord the myth Lion King ripped off Kimba was debunked ages ago. Kimba movie literally came out 3 years after the lion king. Also Simba means Lion!
What about the Kimba series?
*sigh* skip
I haven’t watched but harsh reality… it’s overrated
When you realize its a shot for shot copy of an anime.
