- Elon Musk has blasted advertisers boycotting the social media platform X following backlash over a tweet he made.
“If someone is going to try and blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f**k yourself,” Mr Musk said.
“Is that clear? I hope it is.”
This comes after some global companies paused advertising on social media platform X amid a growing boycott against the actions of its owner, Mr Musk.
The entrepreneur provoked a fierce backlash after Mr Musk seemingly agreed with and amplified an anti-Semitic post.

TV is close to dead, youtube has a net market, and facebook is ran by algorythms mostly. Disney effectively loses one out of four legs in terms of reach.

Just think about how much advertisers control what people see and talk about on platforms. By extension, they can control or, at the very least, support a narrative and most people are none-the-wiser. If a particular point of view is 'popular' on a platform, people just assume that's what the majority think, or if people aren't talking about something it must be less important and a less held view.
Platforms work that way because 80% of household spending is done by mid age women/housewifes/suburban mummys. Aka Karen.

As Elon summarizes, advertisers are essentially blackmailing news outlets, social media platforms, and influencers. As someone who works in government, I can tell you that it’s never as simple as “Here’s (x) dollars to run our advertisement on your platform for (x) number of day(s), month(s), etc. at (x) frequency.” No, there’s almost always a full contract in place with lawyers involved. In that contract, 9 times out of 10, there will be a clause that stipulates that the business or governmental entity seeking to place an advertisement has full control and authority over the message they’re paying for, as well as how that message is to be taken and perceived. So for example, with the “most magical place on earth” company, any news outlet(s), social media platform(s), or influencer(s) that receive either monetary compensation or other perks and benefits from them, * *MUST* * actively “cens-or-ship” (yes, this word/term is actually actively C-worded on CZcams via the algorithm) any responses that are not in-line with the companies values and views. Ergo, anything that makes that company look bad.
Another example is that there is usually a stipulation that whatever news outlet(s), social media platform(s), or influencer(s) run (x) major businesses or governmental entities advertisement, that news outlet(s), social media platform(s), or influencer(s) * *MUST* * self-advocate for that advertisement and the business or governmental entity. Meaning, that regardless if they actually believe in the message or not, and regardless if they actually like/use the product or service, they are required to publicly like it and post comments reviewing the business and/or its product(s) or service(s) positively. Failure to do one or both of these will result in that major business or governmental entity terminating the contract, withdrawing their financial support/benefits/perks, possibly suing, and most definitely blacklisting that news outlet(s), social media platform(s), or Influencer(s). Which, is essential blackmail. And yes, this is also gaslighting the general public via false advertising.

In my world Elon Musk has gone from "Hero to Zero" and not because of this latest statement. His purchase of Twitter made him a Hero. The path to Zero.
