I know that Shelley and Annette Funicello were best friends and I have in my possession an item that I would like to give to her. It is the original typed press release from Disney of Annette's marriage to Jack Gilardi that includes the Who's Who of the wedding party along with Shelley being the maid of honor. I unfortunately know of the rift (?) of her daughter vs. Annette's foundation and this item could be an issue. I tried to get in touch with Jack Gilardi to give this item to him to pass on to the person of his choice but after speaking to an assistant of his which I felt Leary of who told me to send to the agency attention to him (the assistant)and that he would get it to Mr. Gilardi. I had my reservations immediately. I would like to put this in the possession of Shelley and let her decide who it goes to. All I ask is that it physically ends up in Shelley's possession.
Please let me know if you can be of any help.
I sent a note with a photo with a self addressed postage paid return envelope for her autograph plus the info on this original press release. Never received either autograph or how to get the wedding announcement to her.
I'm asking you for your help as I am not going to be around much longer and this really matters.
Thank you for any assistance, it is truly appreciated.
Alan
John, I love your interviews! They are so informative and it must be amazing to talk to so many wonderful and talented actors and actresses. You're always so upbeat and fun to listen to. I have become a huge fan of classic TV shows and I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm really looking foreword to your interview with Paul Peterson.
@@bloofan06 Thank you, I appreciate that very much. I sincerely love interviewing the actors and actresses and hearing their stories and also love Classic TV. I will release the Paul Peterson interview within a month😀
When I was a young kid, Johnny Angel was one of my favorite songs.
I absolutely loved Shelley on Coach.
Not going to lie, I've always loved the sound of her last name.
Watch the second episode of this interview for her time on COACH:)
Fantastic!!! Love you, Shelley❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Maria, make sure you see the second episode of my interview with Shelley where she talks about COACH, Brian's Song, etc.
Shelley and Annette Funicello were best friends who met at Cathechism class and remained best friends til Annette's death, she was there when she passed I heard 😥
You need to watch my second episode with Shelley, she talks about Annette and how they met.
Never watched her on The Donna Reed Show but eatched her on One Day at a Time & Coach. With all the stories about singing, you should have asked her about Elvis. She did 2 or 3 movies with him. Can't wait to hear your interview with Paul.
Watch the second episode I did with her as part of this interview. It focuses more on COACH, etc. Unfortunately I didn’t cover Elvis in the time we had, she has talked a lot about him in other interviews over the years. I would have loved to😀
I just loved her in coach,
Definitely check out the rest of the interview in my second episode with Shelley where she talks about COACH😀
Thank you John. I love your shows. You are an excellent interviewer!!
Thank you Seth, very kind. Just in case, don’t miss the second episode of this interview, it focuses on COACH, Brian’s Song, etc😀
Shelley Fabares , wonderful actress I remember her in the show called coach, and she was really funny and good with Craig T Nelson!! super fun❤❤❤❤❤ always love your interviews though😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks a bunch! By the way, make sure to watch the second episode as well of my interview with Shelley, you will enjoy it especially her COACH chat with me.
@ThatsClassicTV can't wait !! Thanks a bunch 🎈🎈🎈✌️
Shelley was in a show in the 70's called the Brian Keith Show. I'm a collector and have most of the episodes of that series donated to me.
Hi, watch the second episode of this interview on my channel, Shelley talks about her time on the Brian Keith Show, enjoy!
@@ThatsClassicTV Ok, didn't know about it
I have always loved Shelley. I remember Nannette from many things but especially the Broadway musical, Mr. President. "The secret service makes me nervous". ❤
Interesting moment!
I hope you have a part 2 where Shelley talks about her friendship with Annette and her movies with Elvis, do you know why she has different colors in her hair? It's a very interesting story
I don’t know why she has different colors in her hair, let me know. Also, I decided not to talk about Elvis as she has talked about him many times in other interviews and we had so much to cover. Not that I wouldn’t have love to have heard about her and Elvis😀
@@ThatsClassicTV When she was sick prior to her liver transplant, Fabares decided to try out a colorful new hairstyle. In her conversation with InnerVIEWS, she explained that she saw a woman leaving her salon with spiky hair dyed in multiple colors. She asked her hairstylist how it was done, and after he explained it, he asked if she wanted to try it out herself. Faberes thought, "This is the first time in my life since I was three years old-because that's when I started working-that no one can say to me, 'Oh, you can't do that' … It was almost hard to take in how liberating that was." She continued, "No one can tell me I can't do it and I'm dying, so if not now, when?" Fabares loved the style and has kept it to this day.
@@terracelady Thanks a bunch, such an interesting and awesome quote!
I wish Shelley would have explained why she left One Day At A Time as her character brought a new dynamic to the show.
She talked about a lot and some unfortunately don’t always come up. Just in case you missed it, there a second episode for this interview on my channel, enjoy!
Shelley's hair is so cool. I love it.
I would agree, her hair shows she is who she wants to be.
@@ThatsClassicTV She has kept that hair for a whopping 25 years since her liver transplant. That is impressive. A tall, 6 foot exotic-looking woman of Asian, African, and European descent with spiky pink hair, was reportedly the inspiration for that look that has since become a trademark of Shelley's.
@@VahanNisanian That is so cool, thanks for the info on her hair!
Thanks for this! It was fun hearing stories about the Donna Reed show! I'm glad I finally got to see them a few years ago on my Smart TV (Tubi channel) 😊.
Definitely, my pleasure. The Donna Reed Show is just a good show even now. Be sure to check out the second episode of this interview where Shelley talks about COACH, Brian's Song, etc.😀
Though the Donna Reed Show started before my time, I vaguely remember seeing some later in the mid 60s. I remember seeing her "brother" more. Of course she was a fantastic actress in all she did. I loved her on Coach. Thank you John for another fantastic interview. I'm looking forward to seeing Paul's interview as well. Karl remembers these shows more than I did, as he is 9 years older. He remembers having a crush on her. lol. Her loved her in the movie with Elvis Presley I think it was Clambake.
Glad you stilled were able to enjoy the interview Jamie😀Check out the second episode I did with Shelley that focuses more on COACH.
My husband and Shelley are 10th cousins on her mother's side
Wonderful interview, thank you!!
My pleasure Danette😀
That was a great interview with Shelley, I really enjoyed it. I will always think of her as Mary from the Donna Reed Show but she was great in One Day at a Time an also on Coach. Her song "Johnny Angel" is a classic. When I was about 11 years old I saw her Aunt Nanette at a circus that was being held at The Forum in Inglewood and went up to her and she gave me an autograph. I have also had some contact with Paul Petersen, I sent him some old newspaper clippings I found that my parents had saved with pictures of Donna Reed and Tony Owen visiting Iowa on their honeymoon in 1945. He actually emailed me back to thank me. Your interviews are always so fun and interesting.
Thanks Scott, I really appreciate it. Love both of your stories, very cool! Be sure to watch the second episode of my interview with Shelley which focuses on COACH and her other shows, enjoy!
Thank you this fabulous interview with Shelley. I have followed her career since the Donna Reed Show. She is such a sweet person... BTW I can't wait for your interview with Paul. I admire him so much for his organization A Minor Consideration & followed his career. Wonderful that he & Shelley have remained close.
Thank you so much, Shelley is just a nice person. I will hopefully release my interview with Paul in a month or so. I think it is awesome they have remained friends all these years.
I love your interviews!!! Very informative!!!
Diane, I really appreciate that, thank you! More to come...
Awesome to see shelly, been a long time ago she was in the movie clam bake she was so pretty. loved the interview.
Thanks Regina as always, don't miss the second episode with Shelley as well where she talks about COACH, etc.!
I recently met you at the Hollywood Show. You told me you were hoping to get Shelley for your show and now here we are. Great interview. I love the backstory regarding "Johnny Angel". She mentioned the background singers on the song. I believe it was Darlene Love and the Blossoms. As Shelley mentioned they were studio singers who worked with Phil Spector, among others. The Blossoms were also part of the music TV show "Shindig!"
Hey, so glad you wrote in and followed up. I am as thrilled as you are it all worked out with having Shelley on my show! Also, cool to know those were the studio singers. I was wondering especially that tie in to Phil Spector. Johnny Angel is still a great song!!
By the way, make sure to watch the second episode as well of my interview with Shelley, you will enjoy it.
What a GREAT interview!!
Thank you so much, don't miss the second episode as well, enjoy!😀
I always enjoy your interviews! I'm a recent convert to 1950s and 60s America TV, film and popular music. I loved the 'Donna Reed Show, of course!! I've recently seen 'Rock Pretty Baby' from 1956 with John Saxon and Sal Mineo etc and of course, Shelley! Great, entertaining movie!I Also love the song, ''Johnny Angel'. Beautiful song!! Great interview with Shelley! Thank you, John and of course, thank you, Shelley! Very best wishes from Andy Jones, in a very wet and rainy London, UK.
Thank you so much Andrew, as I have said before I love England! I will have to check out "Rock Pretty Baby" Glad you are checking out the 50's and 60's shows from America, there are definitely some gems.
@@ThatsClassicTVTnank you, John, for you most gracious and kind reply! Very best wishes to you and I'll keep watching your AWESOME AWESOME interviews with your fabulous guests. Andy.
@andrewjones3022 Really appreciate that Andy
@@ThatsClassicTVNo problem! Cheers!
Shelly was on several episodes of Mork and Mindy too
Thanks Larry, I didn’t know that😀Be sure to check out the second episode of this interview as well!
James Darrin was on two episodes of The Donna Reed show, one being a singer who got the measles and had to stay with the Stones and the other is a later season playing a singer but Mary didn't know and they had a car accident and she goes out on a date with him unbeknownst to Mary
I love the breakdown of the two episodes with James Darren😀
I have Seasons 1-5 of The Donna Reed Show, which are the only seasons available, but it ran for 8 seasons. Are there any plans to make Seasons 6-8 available anytime in the future?
I wish I knew but who knows it could anything even music copyrights can stop a release of certain seasons.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Enjoy both episodes Jill, Shelley is so interesting with her stories😀
She seems like a wonderful person.. I really did not like the character on Donna reed and when she said nothing like her .. hey it is acting!
Shelley is wonderful and a great actress😀
