I loved this scene, as it shows that Shiyi sees the big picture and that the kid and the 2nd madam get along very well. I do feel bad for Qin as she probably would have been good mother, just that she did not know how to act with a kid.

Shiyi is forever solving problems within the Xu family. They should really appreciate her more. Lingyi really lucked out when he married her. The fact that she's willing to raise Fengqing as her own just shows her how big her heart is.... Lingyi can't help but love her. I love the looks between him/Shiyi when he was about to announce who would be raising Fengqing. He trust her completely.
This family is truly blessed to have Shiyi. Lianfang is shameless. She's trying to use this situation to turn Qin against Shiyi. I feel bad for her because she just wants to be a mother. Unfortunately when she was given the chance to prove that she could handle the responsibility she wasn't able to handle it. She didn't know how to connect to Fengqing/she didn't know how to discipline him. Lingyi job was to find a suitable home for him/to do what was in his best interest. It's sad that she wasn't given the chance but it was also understandable too.

The scene that Shiyi observes between Yizhen and Fengqing proves that she and her husband were right about the choice of the adoptive mother. Fengqing has already chosen Yizhen, it remains only to officially approve this choice. Well done Shiyi, she found the right words and was able to get through to Yizhen. She made the best decision for her and Fengqing.
I like the way Lingyi defends the rights of Shiyi's future children (although she never mentioned it). His story about the concubine is another proof of trust in his wife. He can't help but realize that the Shiyi will be retelling the Tong story (and it may not be true). But he believes that she knows him and will understand everything correctly. Their exchanges of views are priceless, the silent question and support/agreement from her side. They took a huge step in their relationship.

@@Irynash11 I agree. Fengqing had already chosen Yizhen. She made him feel safe during a time when his entire life had changed. He was left with a family that he didn't know/now he has this woman whose very attentive to his needs. They were destine for each other/Shiyi and Lingyi both recognized how much they needed each other. I was glad that Shiyi was able to get through to Yizhen. When Shiyi mentioned that Qin/Lianfang wanted him for selfish reason it lit a fire under Yizhen. She knew from the start that these two women weren't capable of taking care of Fengqing. One was selfish to the core/the other didn't have a clue how to take care of a little boy. They made the best choice for Fengqing.
Yes, I agree this was a huge leap forward in their relationship. Lingyi is starting to open up to her more/more. Wen he mentioned concubine Tong it showed how much he trusted her. Shiyi has proven that she's open minded/she trust him. She will not jump to conclusions to fit a particular narrative told by Nanny Tao. She's very objective/she knows Lingyi temperament/character better than anyone.

I just wish that they would take Qin aside and explain things to her instead of just doing this. If I were Qin I too would feel betrayed. I understand it was different time and different status yadda yadda but as decent people, they should have explained things privately to her

@@viranakhairunnisaa5127 Shiyi did explain things even before the selection begain. She told her that she would talk to Lingyi for her but in the end they would have to accept whatever the decision the GM and Lingyi made...and she agreed to this...unfortunately she assumed that Lingyi had only two options...which was her and Lianfang. She failed to understand that Lingyi was going to do what was in the best interest of the child...She couldn't even get him to obey her....she didn't know how to connect with him. These were the things that Lingyi was focusing on when he made his decision. Yes, it would've been nice if someone took her aside and explained things to her but she agreed to accept his decision. What I hated is that she blamed Shiyi for losing the opportunity. The entire harem at one point found some type of way to blame Shiyi for their problems.

They know that she's not that bright and she probably fail to understand their reasoning. That's why I'd rather that someone had pulled her aside especially considering she's a nice person and she's so lonely and had no family, money or loyal servant unlike Lianfang

I feel bad for concubine Qin. Poor woman all she ever wanted to be a mother but in the end because of humble origin she was cast aside again by the family.
I wonder if she got the custody of child then maybe things would have turned out be different in the end.

I felt bad for her too. The GM did a lot of damage/I was all for her seeking justice but she went after innocent people to accomplish her goals. If she had gotten Fengqing it wouldn't have changed anything. The Ou family would've blackmailed her so that she could continue providing them with information. She wouldn't have been able to escape her fate.

Shiyi before she had reached her 16th birthday had been judged beaten abused sent away with her mother then demanded back to play a role, all because she was a concubines daughter. Her mother was murdered the one person in the world she truly and whole heartedly loved. Her little maid she sees as a sister and also loves her. She sees the injustice. She knows she is been played she rises above it because crying and stamping your feet makes no difference. If you are born a girl you have no rights nothing belongs to you unless you marry into a wealthy family and it doesn't matter if they are cruel it has always been about status. It was exactly the same in my own countries history and we have still got our royals. Status meant everything until the changing of the head of state. A new emperor could see the end of your cushy life or your death depending on how you served the previous one. Nothing changes there are still wealthy families who trade their daughters for a seat in power. People say it's good to be wealthy is it really
