- Toughest, Best Built Spindle. Period.
Cutter blade drive spindles are a crucial component to mower performance. The average blade spindle rotates over 1.8 MILLION times in eight hours of cutting. That's 9 million times per week! Can you afford to have anything but the BEST blade drive spindles turning your cutter blades? Absolutely not!
At Scag Power Equipment we recently invested in a new robot to help automate the spindle building process. The new robot will help improve quality, productivity and allow us to reallocate labor resources to other places of need in the factory.

Awesome video. Great to see how those are made. Automation is very mesmerizing to watch.
Very fun machine to watch. Typically we'll spend a good amount of time in the spindle area during our West Bend tours.
Keep content coming in 2019. I know some of the factory stuff can't be filmed, but Scag could really benefit from having an approachable team, and a brand presence among the lawn care community. You guys put out a great product, and now the brand just needs a fresh face! I rock a V-Ride2 myself
Detailed Lawn Services I agree 100%
We appreciate the feedback and more importantly your business!
Love my Scag Cheetah 52 inch!
We appreciate your business!
I have a 61" tiger cat being delivered today. I hope it lives up to the confidence I am starting out with
Thank you for your business!
I bought a Scag Vride 48" in 2016. Then I saw Ed Wright's presence on You Tube and thought how cool is that to see a face with the brand. So i was in the market for another mower and although I was perfectly happy with my Vride, I went and bought a smaller stander but remembered Ed Wright.....so I bought a Wright stander. Both great mowers but seeing Ed's face with the name made a huge impact on where i was going to buy my next commercial mower.
We appreciate the feedback Rob and are sorry to hear we were unable to earn your business this time around.
In Japan the same machine brings you sushi to your table
Maybe we can set this up to run some sushi for us for lunch!
Today I purchased a brand new scag from my dealer. When I got home I noticed the spindles were all rusted. Is this normal?
This would be something to check in with your local Scag dealer on. Shouldn't be an issue.
Luv my 2009 TT and recent 2024 TT, but this video really not anything but mechanized assembly. Sorry.
Wonder if this is why we’ve been experiencing problems, bought a TC2 last year all the spindles had to be replaced and now all are leaking grease from the bottom seal (650hrs on the machine). Scag still hasn’t reimbursed my dealer for replacing the spindles himself since they wouldn’t cover it at the time. This year bought a Cheetah and at 65 hrs grease is already coming from the bottom seal. Honestly just want my money back for Cheetah, paid for the “best” but didn’t get it.
Good Morning Zack, Below is a link to our customer contact form. Please feel free to fill that out with your contact info and machine serial number and our technical service team will be sure to follow up and see what assistance can be offered.
Update, scag only replaced one spindle on the cheetah with only 64 hrs on it. Dealer greased the spindles (they have already been greased twice so more than the recommended 40hrs). Dealer then ran the mower for a few minutes and pulled it in the shop to look a all the spindles only was actively leaking, keep in mind all of them already have grease past the seals just like our TCII. Scag refused to do anything about the other 2 spindles. This mower mainly mows larger properties allowing the spindles to get much hotter than a “test” that’s a mere few minutes. WITH THERE ALREADY BEING GREASE PAST THE SEALS ON THE OTHER 2 SPINDLES THERES OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE. Dealt with this all last year with our TCII last year even with the replaced spindles do this, really hinders our bottom line having to grease the spindles every 12-15 hrs instead of every 40 hrs. We use more than double the grease that should be required and also wasting our time doing so.
Could you please resend the customer contact form, link wouldn’t work. Would be nice to get some help since our area rep isn’t wanting resolve the issue......
