I just discovered your channel and let me say it is so refreshing to hear your prespective on photograhy and equipment. I am just coming back to photography after a hiatus from it. I am an artist and have been wanting to begin taking photos again so at least I can have my own reference photos. I totally forgot everything I learned about Photography and need to start from scratch. At the moment I own some old gear, I have a Nikon D7000, Panasonic GH2 and a Sony Cybershot RX100 II (This is the one I can throw in my purse along with my iPhone)
I got the TTArtisan 10mm F2.0 for it at 150 bucks. Looks amazing. No distortion and no chromatic aberration, none at all. Surreal at that price point for a lens with those specs.
Lightweight and compact is why I bought into the micro four thirds system. This lens really fits that philosophy. Some people don't doubt plastic bodies on lenses are tough enough but look at hard hats worn by construction workers - plastic and tough enough. I just ordered one (used from MPB).
I bought the Laowa 7.5mm just before the PanaLeica 9.0mm came out. Bought it for the width, but I was totally wowed by the build quality. No doubt I would have bought the Leica at the time if it were available. NOW, because I know how good that Laowa really is, I think choosing between the two would be VERY difficult.
I rented this camera for a week and loved it. I'm not a vlogger, nor did I even test the video, photos only. Regretfully, I rented it during a week my wife was gone. Her favorite subjects are flowers and I think it would be a great camera for her. There's a lot of potential in that little G100.
Even though I think it is absurd that Pana made this camera withou IBIS, I think this is such a cool camera-lens combination (at least for stills) that I'm considering getting it. Nice review.
I enjoyed your honest review. I shoot at 1080p so 4K doesn’t matter with this camera. I have the GX8 and G9 if I need it. I just find the G100 to be a lot of fun.
I have one of these misrepresented gems and I use it for stills, mostly in monochrome. Hooked up to a 20mm f/1.7 it has most of the attributes of my mighty G9 in a much smaller form factor and it is taking some getting used to but I love it✌️🇦🇺
I gifted my wife with this camera back in 2022 on our wedding day, fast forward Jan 2024 I was using it to take pictures of her when we went to Hong Kong and I was using affordable manual lenses by 7artisans. Bottom line is I enjoyed it😅
Great review and I could not agree more regarding how good the G100+PL9mm lens is. I use that combo together with the PL12-60mm lens + external microphone as my travel video combo. G100+PL12-60+mic during daytime, G100+PL9mm during evening when I want something almost pocketable. I film in 4K 30p w standard stab setting in camera. I then add some minor additionsl stabilization in post (Final Cut).
thank you for the video! I was wondering how the combination of lens/resolution/image stabilization fares and this helped a lot. I agree that HD with image stabilization standard looks the best.
I like the G100, but it's a 1080p only, unless on a tripod due to rolling shutter in 4k. The widest stabalized lens is the 14-42 PZ lens with the Panasonic .79x teleconverter. That still only gets you to about 11mm with IS.
I already have a GM5 as a pocket size camera and I love using it and I am considering the G100 in case I have to replace it. The lack of stabilization is not really an issue for stills. But what annoys me is the lack of a back top dial to change the aperture/shutter (I suppose the back wheel can be used for that but not the way I want to use that wheel). It is because I use that dial as an exposure compensation dial on all my cameras. But never say never I really find the G100 is a cool camera.
So it basically performs like a 1 inch sensor camera at 4k. I try to see as an option since I had to sell my gx85 but man, the crop, the lack of ibis, the 1/50s flash sync and the 1/500 mechanical shutter make it uninspiring for any advanced purpose
The Sony ZVE10 for $699 without a lens and a Sigma 16 mm for $300 is a good setup. LUMIX G100 for $400 used is good, too. Sony does better in lower light. Sony focuses easier than LUMIX.
Are you planning to buy Lumix S5iiX? It looks like that only CZcamsrs who are well-known on CZcams seem to have received the Lumix S5iiX, for regular people the availability shows as the end of May.
HD unqualified means 720p, just say 1080p, or say full HD. Click bait thumbnail got you this valuable feedback. Disappointed by no Casey humour though :-p
Love your channel, April! Your reviews and suggestions are so practical, thoughtful and helpful. There are lots of channels covering similar topics, with fancy editing, audio, etc but what your channel delivers is honest, easily comprehended, uncluttered content. I also think part of the charm to your channel is authenticity, and content that a lot of people can easily relate to. Its believable. The locations you shoot in - your bedroom and backyard, for example, make your material 'real' and trustworthy. I have made a number of (correct) buying decisions based on your channel as the final word; I go to other channels to gather info on a product, then come to yours for a final endorsement. Keep up your great work; I hope more and more viewers 'discover' your channel. You deserve 40K subscribers! I'd like to offer a suggestion: when you shoot in your bedroom, consider lowering your camera so that your eyes are about 2/3 up from the bottom. When you're sharing your wisdom with your viewers, we'd rather see more of you than your walls and ceiling. God Bless.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I really enjoy testing different cameras and lenses. There is a lot of hype over certain brands or sensor sizes. I wanted to see for myself how everything works.

Couldn't agree more.

1080p Lumix is so good.

I love the size and EVF
Thanks for the review. This is exactly what I was looking for.

9mm does fine.

It would be good for street photography either with the kit or 14mm, 20mm lenses. It’ll keep the camera small
Panasonic leica 9mm vlog
I don't remember writing this or what I meant here. Lmao.
Anyways love your coverage of the G100 overall.
Can the Leica 9mm 1.7 Lens work with the Lumix G85? Thank you.
For sure.
Hello, which camera do you recommend for beginners in youtube in 2023? not for Vlog and not very expensive. thanks.

Probably not for a while. Seems heavy. I would like to try one at the store
@Camera Newb Based on the reviews I have seen recently, as compared to other brands, it's lighter
