Mind if I peak behind the curtain a bit? I assumed this was a randomized nuzlock with narrative added afterward with editing. Was the plot actually being improvised while playing then only polished in editing?
Otherwise, why kill off Szuin and box Mythos after Lugia?

This was over a year ago when I last played that section of the game. So bear with me as I try to remember.
Some aspects were planned. Szuin never actually "died" to nuzlocke rules, but the "death" was planned as a plot device to help make the threat of the antagonist believable.
As from Mythos, that was due to a team issue that I always follow in my nuzlockes. Szuin's Water/Steel type combo was missing, and I always attempt to get a steel and a water type. Unfortunately, in order to do that, someone had to go in order to fit both types. That's why Ion returned at the end of the episode + the other Pokemon added hasn't debuted yet BUT was in the party into Kanto. He makes his debut in the battle next ep, but it is a water type. Seeing as I had to box Mythos, I had to write something into the plot that made sense for him to step away.
