    There are people who will never give Floyd credit because they don't know shit about boxing. He could go 100-0 and people would say, "He was afraid to fight BLANK and BLANKETY BLANK would have beat him." You may not like his personality or his money might make people nervous but he is without question ONE of the GREATEST of ALL TIME. That is not my opinion it is simply a fact.

      +Hustle Boss Roy definitely influenced Floyd especially earlier on..in fact I remember thinking Floyd was a mini Roy in his approach, the leaping left hook, the check hook......even the way he KO'ed opponents earlier in his career. So I agree. Things Mayweather does that you don't see every day, doubling up and trippling up the lead right. Leonnox Lewis commented on that in his fight against Zab Judah. I saw a left jab to the liver off a pivot against Pacquiao which you don't see every day. Straight right to the liver against Sharmba Mitchell, you don't see those kinds of shots every day. I seen Mayweather lead with an uppercut, a right hook an overhand right a looping right, leaping left hook, spear jab and left uppercut...that you used to see in times past but not in the way he does it off a feint. Just so flashy and the timing keeps you from countering.

When he boxes it's a different story. Floyd "is the best" out there right now but a couple of fighters can most definitely give him problems in the ring. Like Roy said, Khan is at his best when he actually boxes. Where I disagree with him is when he thinks that that style will give Floyd trouble. The reality is that Floyd CHOOSES to fight boxers because he knows that he can always outbox them (part of the reason why I think he chooses to fight Khan). A very good pressure fighter who is good at cutting off the ring and will come out at you with bulldog-like aggression is what will give Floyd the most trouble.

    • @kenneanjoseph2191
      @kenneanjoseph2191 Před 10 lety +4

      you were correct until you said very good pressure fighters there isn't any of them at 140-154. Unless floyd fights a middle weight. The question I ask everyone is how many fighters at 140-154 is more skill than floyd, more skilled,not have a style. Styles makes fights but dont win fights, skills does.

Put him in his prime and at Mayweather's weight, Money can't touch the dude. The dude is so good he keeps his hands down. He's so good he beats another top level fighter with one hand. I can't gauge Floyd's true skill and prominence until he fights a Pacman or Paul Williams or Lara or Martinez or Bradley etc... He easily out classes guys who are over the hill, too young, or too inept in skill. And he should. But what makes fighters great are great fights, great match-ups, great overcoming of adversity in the ring. So far all I have for Mayweather is him vs. Corrales...

    LOL Roy Jones would say that considering he lived on god given speed and when the speed was gone so was his dominance of the world of boxing. Pacquiao and Khan and similar to Jones because both use their god given talents to out weigh their lack technical skills such as defense, basic footwork etc. The only way Floyd loses is by a one punch KO or old age.

      @PoloCortes Před 10 lety +13

      I disagree brotha, Roy had speed & skills, when he drained himself to fight from heavy to welter, that's when his career took a nose dive. Yes he slowed down, but had he stay at light heavyweight, it wouldn't of mattered because of his superb speed & skills at that weight...

    Roy jones is on the money when he says khan the boxer would give Floyd troubles and not khan the slugger . Everyone who doubts khan should go watch him in the amateurs. His style would have beat Floyd 3/5 times. He was very slick fast and in and out . He would out point top opponents on a land slide . If we see that khan who doesn't commit to 4 to 6 combinations and moves in and out at angles he has a realistic chance to win. If khan over commits he will get countered and get floored. Of course he won't get ko"d cuz Mayweather counters are more arm punches rather and he never put his whole body weight into the punch because he is very defensively minded .

I think to bring boxing back to it's heights again it should be mandatory for title holders to fight minimum 3 times a year. I remember in the 80's, top fighter were doing 3-4 fights a year. Leonard was a better boxer and had better speed, atleast on his legs.
      But Mayweather is as you say harder to hit, and thats because Mayweather is very elusive and one of the best defensive boxers of all time.
      He reminds me of Jack Johnson in many ways.

    • @angelpalacios9616
      @angelpalacios9616 Před 10 lety

      I have thought the same regarding Hagler. Not sure about Hearns. Considering what the virtuoso, Robinson, did in his time (in terms of technical artistry) I feel if he were to transport to this era and have the same info and resources that boxers have today, then he'd surely win. However, if Mayweather traveled back in time to that era (with his current knowledge and skills), Mayweather would likely win... However, his style of fighting would garner some serious boos from the crowd.

    Also I wanted to is this, Floyd is a great boxer but he might be a better business man. I believe he fights more with Mexican fighter's is because the Mexican community is the biggest boxing fans in the world and if someone did the studies I bet the biggest ppv #s are coming from that community. Second I think Floyd beats AK because he ( AK) has lost before and Floyd can easily take from that and have a great game plan. Were as AK can't with Floyd. Floyd has that advantage with anyone. Plus best defense in boxing. If Roy ( my favorite boxer of all time) would have had a better defense, and given J.Tony a rematch at that weight, then retired or made a match with a big name HW, put some $$ in his pockets. Should have never lost 25 pounds of muscle to go fight a guy that had all to win and Roy all to lose. Made no sense to me. He lost alot of speed and stamina when he lost that (muscle) weight. Just my rant sorry

    Floyd Mayweather Jr is a defensive genious that likes to trap his opponents and counter punch and land weak strings of punches to score points and win by SD or UD.

    My guess is Floyd will finish his last 2 fights with Mexican fighters or Mexican style fighters. To much risk to fight A.K. and Manny won't take a drug test. ( go look at the last Marques fight and look at how big both were) why would Floyd be afraid of Manny if he dominated the guy Manny lost at least on some true boxing fans minds twice. Floyd is awesome. Best in the world at his weight class, but come on the best fight right now is AK. Give us something worth our money Floyd.. PLEASE

    I tell you what, that's all Mayweather fights is flatfooted fighters. I'd be surprise if he chooses to fight Khan! I think he'll stick to the game plan and fight another flatfooted fighter(Maidana). He'd get worked if he fought Khan. His only chance is if he catches him.

    • @konic40
      @konic40 Před 10 lety

      its been years he's been ducking toney
      . it is documented how severe the weigh cut was at the time of the match so RJJ destroyed a weakened toney. if he hadnt ducked him the rematch would have been better

    • @konic40
      @konic40 Před 10 lety

      you need to read my previous comments. he is a ducker just like...go look it up Wally wallster, guy had to take laxatives to make weight. if you watch previous fight up to then fot toney you can see his speed and snap wasnt there. RRJ fought a toney that wasnt 100%.

    • @konic40
      @konic40 Před 10 lety

    Floy wants to reach the the end of his $300million contract which was 6 fights... he wouldn't dare fight such risky fighters so early.... until the last two... Khan second to last... and he'll lose to Pacquiao last... an shock the whole world... lol except me..
