    Love Roy Jones, but i dont understand his prediction. If it goes the distance Manny wins? Floyd is the master of winning decisions. He finds a way to win, every time. How does Roy predict Manny winning if it comes down to a decision? My prediction would be the other way around, Manny has to knock out Floyd to win, otherwise there is no way in hell Manny is winning a decision over Floyd.

    • @DynamicUnreal
      @DynamicUnreal Před 9 lety +13

      Because Manny will probably throw and land more punches than Floyd because of his high output. Pacquiao is the most accurate power puncher in the world, and he throws them at a high rate. Even though Mayweather's defensive skills will counteract Manny's incredible power punch accuracy, it would be hard to stop Manny from throwing 800 punches in 12 rounds. By the end if the fight Floyd's face might look fucked up, and he might have landed less punches in compubox and if that happens he will probably lose.

    • @YQBeats
      @YQBeats Před 9 lety

      DynamicUnreal I agree, that's my perspective on this. Manny gets the win on cards 8-4 or 7-5, and it will be a clear win because Floyd will be too dull and made to look like he is 38 years old. Pacquiao will do what SRL did to Hagler. Flurries and combinations at the end of rounds with no time left for Floyd to respond. So in those rounds where they can go either way, Pacquiao will steal those rounds because otherwise the judges will be more inclined to give them to Floyd. In the middle of the ring, Manny will turn Floyd to his left like RJJ is saying in the vid, and take the L position to get to Floyd's center line. If Floyd is moving around, Manny can trap Floyd on the ropes or in the corner and make him fight his way out. No knock on Floyd, but now I see why he didn't want this fight. If it comes down to Floyd needing to get 2 more rounds to win the fight, I don't see him being able to catch Manny, who has better footwork.

    • @reanguzman7420
      @reanguzman7420 Před 9 lety +1

      x2eXu50x floyd is more offensive against southpaws which plays into pac strengths where he doesnt have to chase his opponent. i believe pac high workrate will prove too much for floyd to handle.
      pac will outwork floyd, not outbox.
      floyd has to drastically up his activity or try to hurt pac or stop him to win.
      judging by how he incorporate drastic changes on his training and hiring his own team of doctors ala marquez, im pretty sure he knows what it takes to beat pac and it's not easy.
      in this fight, floyd chin and legs will be tested. will they hold up? cant wait for may.

    • @Onieracraft
      @Onieracraft Před 9 lety

      DynamicUnreal Need to correct something here. Floyd Mayweather actually has the title of the most accurate puncher in Boxing statistically, and he is far ahead of number 2 which is definitely not Manny. And even if you just think about it, the one way that a guy who throws one or two punches at a time can win every fight is if he is ridiculously accurate.
      It's just that Manny throws a lot of punches and so you are going to hit by some of them. Floyd has a much lower workrate even though he is extremely accurate and so if he doesn't bring that workrate up dramatically or score a Ko he can't win.

  • @juliethao570
    @juliethao570 Před 9 lety +11

    Roy forgot Floyd doesn't really rely on his should roll vs southpaw.

    • @rvicgdr
      @rvicgdr Před 9 lety +1

      ***** He uses high guard against southpaws. The shoulder roll leaves you open for that left. The only times he uses the shoulder roll against southpaws is when he's on the ropes, because opponents square their body in order to get more leverage on their punches.

    • @cevaking
      @cevaking Před 9 lety

      ***** You are right, Floyd will alternate depending on opponent. He'll use a high guard or orthodox guard at the start of the fight and depending on the opponents speed and power he'll change it up as it also gives himself different angles and keeps the opponent guessing. Against Ortiz and Mitchell he started out orthodox but almost half way through the 1st round he went into the philly shell or Mayweather (as he calls it) roll. With Zab, he had good speed and power so kept the guard high until he wore him down. For me the real question is the straight right - Floyd uses it brilliantly against south paws and Freddie Roach knows this and is working on a counter. Will Floyd throw it early to test out his speed and Manny's counter or will he throw in something different? That for me will be the key early on.....

    • @reanguzman7420
      @reanguzman7420 Před 9 lety

      ***** floyd doesnt always go back shoulder roll that is what he is hardwired to defend and mostly on offense. jab, roll, counter.
      with high guard, he doesnt get leverage on his right. it's weak, so instinctively, he goes back to his bread and butter. that split second of switching between high guard and philly shell, could be enough for pac to land something big.

    • @dablocishot77
      @dablocishot77 Před 9 lety +1

      TukTuk Syko Mayweather is a king of making people take risks, he capitalizes on risks. Pac cannot bring aggression only to the ring, he will get countered all night. Ricky hatton was an aggressive fighter, mosley was aggressive, guerrerro was aggressive, ortiz was aggressive, de la hoya was aggressive, the list goes on. What happened in the later round, they turned gun shy from getting hit with punches they did not see. Every last one of them took an L. You cannot beat floyd just by being aggressive, the only way floyd can be beat is to outsmart him and let's face it. No one has a better ring IQ than floyd.

    • @chris7231000
      @chris7231000 Před 9 lety

      dablocishot77 No, you can't beat Floyd just being aggressive, but he's not unbeatable and the De La Hoya fight was quite close and I can't imagine Floyd beating Oscar in his prime. And more than not think he lost to Castillo the first time. I think Floyd is our best pound for pound fighter today, however. Manny will fight with controlled aggression, I am sure, and use his speed, which is in both his hands and feet, to get in and out fast and throw a lot of punches. So, the fight has all the makings for a good one and so many different things can happen which is why opinions are all over the place. You're right about Floyd's ring IQ, but in every fight Floyd is usually the faster of the two fighters and that is what allows him to implement whatever strategy is needed. His athleticism. In this case, his speed and athleticism are negated, somewhat, which is why I think he is going to rely on power more so than ever. I think that's basically what Jones is saying as his basic belief is that Manny's speed and work rate is going to force Floyd into having to exchange more and knock Manny out. And, I definitely believe Floyd has the power to do that. I wouldn't be surprised by any outcome quite frankly. But, in the end, I favor Floyd b/c he's bigger, naturally, and has a nice reach advantage. If Manny had a great chin like Leonard, I'd probably give him the edge.

    Excellent final analysis by Roy Jones, but I don't want to see his career end as the likes of Leonard, De La Hoya, Arguello etc. He'd be foolish to think he's strong enough to fight Marco Huck.

      Carl Bryan Manuel no... no.. that's not it.... that's what they want you to believe... the truth is that pacquiao doesn't throw just a one punch left hook to knock you out... its not in the intention of pacquiao to knock you with one punch.. he's not david tua or mike Tyson... this guy overwhelms you with a reptitition of punches, AND TAHT'S WHAT THE PEANUTHEAD IS AFRAID OF... NOT SO MUCH IF HE LANDS A LEFT HOOK OR A RIGHT HAND.... THE PEANUTHEAD IS AFRAID OF GETING BOMBARDED THROUGHOUT THE FIGHT... this is why I call it ROASTING A CHICKEN... IT IS SLOW BURN BY SLOW BURN.. PAQUIAO WILL OVERWHELM HIM....

    Roy Jones gave some very interesting thoughts on this fight over the last few weeks; I believe he thinks Floyd is going to walk Manny down from the mid rds and go for a late KO - and he's right to say that Floyd can hit hard, PBF just didn't need to in his younger days as he was so gifted. But in this fight we will see a different Floyd Mayweather I believe. Not saying he'll win tho!

    I can't completely agree with Roy. I don't think Floyd will use should roll against Pac, It's not a good strategy against a southpaw, and he didn't use it much against the other southpaws he fought. I think he'll use high guard and keep the fight in the middle of the ring.

    People have been saying that all through Floyd's career. He's never got credit for beating Corrales, a feared KO king that was higher than him on the P4P list at the time. When he beat Gatti, he got criticised for not fighting Hatton. Cotto was Gatti's sparring partner and decided he wanted no part of Floyd after that fight, but after he beat Hatton he got accused of ducking Cotto. :/ But if you look closely at his career as a boxing fan and not as a pac-fan, you'll see that he's been careful to pick guys that are on top of their games and coming of big wins: Unbeaten Hatton KOs Castillo before their fight, Mosley destroys Margarito for the WBA ww title, Ortiz beats an Unbeaten Berto for the WBC belt, Gurrero destroys Berto for the vacant belt, Canelo is Canelo and Maidana gets a shot at Floyd by embarrassing Broner. If you look at Manny's career he hasn't done as well at picking his opponents at the right time. e.g. Fights Morales after he loses to Barrera (and loses :/), then fight's Morales again after he loses instead of fighting the guy that beat him. Fights Oscar at 147 and weighs more than him on fight night? Fight's Hatton (who he would've beaten anyway) after he loses his unbeaten record to Floyd. Mosley's on top of the world at WW after destroying Margarita who destroyed Cotto. Which one does Manny pick out of the 3? Cotto :/. Then he fight's Clottey who just lost to Cotto the fight before, and then he fight's Margaito while Floyd outclasses Mosley the guy that destroyed as I mentioned before ;). Then he finally fights Mosley. I think the Media have been very lenient with Pac's career at WW because of the names. And lets not talk about his career after Mosley because he's clearly not the same fighter. He took harder punches from Mosley and Cotto than he took from Marquez in the 4th fight. And had Provodnikov got the decision instead of Algeri there's no way Pac would have got in the ring with him.1st Negotiation: Floyd called out Manny when Manny was whooping on everyone all Floyd asked was for Olympic style random blood testing. Manny ended up turning down the Olympic random blood testing which completely ruined the negotiations because he did not want to do that. There was an interview with Roach saying Manny gets very weak when they take out blood on the day of the fights but HEY he eventually ended up doing those same EXACT tests for other fights. Hmmm strange don't you think he turns down the Random Blood test for Mayweather but ends up doing those same tests for other fights.
    2nd Negotiation: You're gonna like this one, Floyd calls up Manny on his cell phone and gives him an offer saying he will give Manny $40 Million if he takes the fight with him. He will give him $20 million on the days leading to the contract being made and $20 million when the contract is signed. Manny was calling his advisors during the phone call w/ Floyd and all Manny did was say "50-50" and hangs up the phone. Manny even says this call took place he doesn't deny the fact that he talked to Floyd on the phone. So lets see Manny turns down $40 Million all that is going to him not to Arum, his sponsors, promoters etc. All that money is going to him. He ends up turning down $40 million to fight Floyd but ends up fighting Marquez for less... Doesn't make sense you say you want to fight Floyd but turn down his offer of $40 million and end up fighting Marquez for $22 million and Bradley later on for less. So he made less money in 2 fights than what you could have made for one. This negotiation probably went to pieces because of Bob Arum because him and Floyd don't get along so he probably told Manny to tell Floyd 50-50 and that's it. That's the secondnegotiation gone to pieces.
    3rd Negotiation: These negotiations were taking place right before Floydwas sentenced to go to jail for his domestic abuse case. Floyd had made an agreement with the judge to delay his jail sentence to June 1st because he had a fight set for the 5th of May that will make the city of Vegas idk how many millions. So the day of the fight was set already Floyd was going to Fight on the 5th of May he called out Manny on Twitter and his tweet was spread all over the sport outlets. This is what happens on Manny's side. Top Rank responds by saying that they want to fight in the new Boxing Arena Arum is making so he can hold his fights. Guess when that Arena was going to be completely finished? June 1st.... So Top Rank pretty much said we don't want to fight Floyd because we are building an arena that will seat 100k ppl but we all know fights make the most money off PPV. So why Top Rank wanted to push the fight to be fought in the new Arena the world may never know! Oh and guess what the Arena wasn't even made!! They turned down a potential Blockbuster fight w/ Floyd to fight in an arena that was never made... Keep in mind all these negotiations Floyd was the one who was contacting and calling out Manny first. This fight could have happened years ago but the ppl Manny is working with have fucked everything up Manny is to blame as well because he could have told Arum I want Floydmake the fight happen but he didn't. Manny isn't scared of Floyd and Floydisn't scared of Manny but seeing all you misinformed CZcamsrs go at it with each other saying Floyd is ducking Manny blah blah blah is fucken annoying. Neither fighter is afraid of each other it's just the fact that Manny is under Top Rank that this fight has not happened and probably won't. So who is afraid of who Morgan? Cuzz by the looks of it, it sure ain't Floyd.

      That`s because the shoulder roll is less effective against southpaws, that`s why Floyd only used it a few times vs Conor also.

    Mayweather is the smarter fighter and being smart and intelligent wins fights. Pacman is an incredible fighter but he has lost twice which means floyde has the upper hand but you never know what can happen. This is a fight that even non boxing fans will want to watch, so that basically tells you that the fight is so important to the sport of boxing.
