As a UK darts fan who is looking forward to the World Matchplay in Blackpool England starting today (Winner pockets 260 thousand dollars), I like occasionally dipping my toe into the American darts scene. Spellman and Gates are great players. Danny Lauby Jr plays in Europe quite regularly but is struggling to make any real headway. We are experiencing a resurgence in darts due to the Luke Littler effect. I would love to see it take off in the USA.
What time was this played? Arguably the top 2 American players and nobody watching?
Untill there's an organisation like the pdc in America, with decent money for people to make a living on, even floor tournaments. This could be a world championship first or second round game between these two, and i wouldn't be surprised.
Gates was lucky I got tired in the semi final. Otherwise that would have been me stinking it up on stream. 🤣 Played both of them that weekend. Alex was just too good all weekend.

@@davidblalock1709 I know US darts is not PDC darts. But there’s a fan base in the US. Having the finals in a larger format would be awesome.
Agreed. Increase hype, increased competitors who could bring crowds. Don’t know if it would change any outcomes - (Gates and spellman r amazing PRO players) Amazing/PRO players receiving less than 1k to win it!? Is not enough. While a much lesser player can stick with earning 300 or 600 plus playing locally in a weekend. Understanding its a bit more complicated..hmm idk
