I am an adoptive daughter and I was never interested in looking for my biological parents, she told me: For what? They had their life and I had mine, God allowed me to be adopted by wonderful parents who filled everything in my life. Today I am 64 and for my children, my parents were their grandparents. My mother used to say, it is not the mother who has a child but the one who raises him and she is with them all her life.
I have a friend who felt the same way. Both her adoptive parents are now deceased. But she still has no interest in finding them.

Not the guy who’s DNA is a part of me-that man has a name, and I’m grateful to him for assisting in creating my body, and also giving me up if he did not want to be my farther/dad/daddy etc. I don’t call him father or dad. Help the children of "super donors" to keep track of each other and avoid incest 3. Verify that the husband is indeed the father in cases where that was supposed to be what the doctor promised. 4. Make sure they haven't switched embryos in IVF because that has happened. When a family of Italian backgrounds in New Jersey has twins and one baby was obviously black. You know somebody messed up. If someone else's Italian baby had been added, it might be a very long time before someone figured it out.

I don't think donors should have people turning up on their doorstep. They don't donate to 'become' a father.
Typically people will reach out to their agency if they'd like to make contact once they reach adulthood. The agency then reaches out to the other party. It's all very formal so privacy and involvement can be protected. Nobody is having someone show up on their doorstep demanding a parent.

There was a whole documentary on Netflix about this or another doctor. The story I saw featured over 100 “kids” of a fertility doctor that were unknowingly conceived. It’s a fascinating and sad story. This is completely irresponsible of this doctor and he should lose his license.

There was a case like this in Indiana some years ago. Moms thought their artificial inseminations had used their husband's sperm when in fact the sperm was from their OB/Gyn. He had fathered dozens of children, all in the local area. The odds of accidentally marrying and reproducing with a half sibling are great. The doctor, now retired, was never prosecuted, because prosecutors could not identify any law he had broken. He got away with it. In addition to the ethical issues, think of the health problems caused by genetic incest.
That doctor is sick. I wonder how many patients he has done that too.

One could argue that the doctor isn't protected from donor anonymity agreements because he is the owner of a company. He would in fact violate that clause himself maybe even nullifying it. Moreover, there is a conflict of interest as the doctor would have been violating patient-provider confidentiality too as the patient (woman's mother) has a right to how her health information will be used, (i.e. her egg is mixed with his sperm), and she has to give consent for it to be used especially if it's her doctor. If he as a doctor believes his sperm is in fact "medical treatment" then she would need to sign off on this just like she did for donor #106.
Not knowing who their donor is could put them at risk of consanguineous relationships with other offspring of the same donor.
All of his patients should check to see how many other times he's been a "local donor".
Local is better, consume less energy to transport (like food) and can preserve the genetic pools.

Maybe it's because deep down people like her know how sick and unnatural this all is. By the order of the Cosmos, one is designed to have a mother AND a father directly and in their life. You're not meant to simply "exist" and be satisfied, if that were meaningful then nobody would would ever leave their house. And "having what she has" is as superficial as money. This is the comment. I see several comments dismissing how violating and creepy this behavior is. "Mom wanted a kid, why did she care where it came from?" "Looks like the daughter got really good genes, why does she care where they came from?" Probably because people should have a say in whose sperm is being inseminated into them any maybe she didn't want her crusty, creepy doctor's sperm?
There are plenty of cases where a woman will conceive and genuinely not know who the father is.
She had a dad who died, she got another dad 'and another one', meanwhile I had none, 'this sucks'.

When I was in my early 30’s I was exploring the issue of how I wanted to get pregnant, as a single woman. I had several inseminations with frozen donor sperm. I wasn’t getting pregnant, so the doctor suggested fresh sperm from a source he had. I got a weird feeling about it and said no. This is exactly what I was suspicious of! Interesting to learn that it does happen. It’s a violation because the anonymity is one-sided. It’s creepy! I ended up adopting, by the way.

The way things are happening in today's society, I whole heartedly believe the genetic tests of the past would be highly useful. There are so many half sibling everywhere.
Many years ago u had to take a blood test to have ur marriage application approved...they haven't done it in decades but I feel like (especially with these types of situations coming up more and more often) they need to be implemented back again...😬🤢
@@FedUpPrincess09 You took blood tests to look for sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis because at a certain stage of the disease there are no symptoms but in the final stage of it, you die from it once it destroys the brain. They weren’t studying genetics with those blood tests.
