  • Let's revisit the Remarkable 2 one month later. I’ve been using this for several weeks, and I'm loving it - but there are some quirks to be mindful of. Whether you already have one or are shopping around, here's what you NEED to know.
    None of this is financial advice but I can definitely tell you about my experiences: Which remarkable pen to buy, the remarkable accessories suite, user interface, and basic troubleshooting.

    Had a meeting and my coworker's pen wasn't working, LMFAO My boss looked at us like wtf, so he bought us two Remarkable 2 with all the expensive accessories lol. couple days later we were the coolest kids in the room haha so I was told to purchase 9 more. Now we all have them thanks to my friends pen not working that day. I love mine for someone who is ocd and minimalist the remarkable is perfect. Great video.

    I ordered one yesterday, but I'm still watching reviews! This is definitely an item that is really good at what it does, so whether it's 'worth it' really depends on the person and whether it's something that suits them. The 100-day trial is really generous and gives anyone plenty of time to try out the tablet; if you're still reaching for it after even 50 days, it's probably a good sign it's working for you.
    I am a writer but I also work a day job from home that requires being on my computer all day. One of my biggest blocks for writing has been finding the motivation to spend even more time at my computer/work desk. I also edit text all day so sometimes writing just feels like more work. I'm hoping with this device, I can finally get back into a daily writing habit without staring even more at blue screens and make the process joyful again.
    I'm also excited to switch it up and try handwriting my first drafts, although my handwriting is pretty messy so I'm not too hopeful that the text conversion will be super accurate. I don't mind the idea of having to rewrite it all, even if the text conversion isn't great - it gives you a chance to do some on-the-fly editing.

      Wow I can relate so much. Same sentiment here about wanting to write after work hours without staring at the computer all day! Like you said, it’s a personal decision. Whatever that is for you, I hope you find the PERFECT solution for your writing journey. ✍🏼 Thanks for watching!

      I think you just sold me on it. I’ve always loved writing longhand too, especially for first drafts.

    • @KelseyDahlberg
      @KelseyDahlberg Před 2 měsíci

      @@adarateranroldan I've had mine for a little over a month and I love it! I probably wouldn't use it as much without the type folio, though. I had all these grand ideas for hand writing my drafts - and the hand writing experience is excellent on the tablet - but my hand just can't write fast enough for my brain and I end up doodling. But if you already like writing by hand, it could be amazing for you. The typing experience is really excellent though and having a tool that is specifically for getting words out with no other distractions has been amazing, especially with the long battery life and screen which doesn't hurt your eyes.

    Great video. I am a heavy rM user, here are some points.
    You do not have to go with the official stylus and case. Any EMR stylus will work and you can buy far cheaper ones. They do have nibs which are a bit harder. But if you have a light hand, you may prefer the smoothness of this. For cases, I prefer shell cases. They are cheaper and stronger. I use the device naked (!) and put in in a shell case for transport and storage.
    The text recognition software can get confused if the lowest parts of the letters on one line go below the highest parts of the letters on the next line. This makes the text conversion move words in to the wrong place. Avoid this by writing on everyu other line. There is no downside to this, because you can make the pages as big as you like.
    When you export what you have written to your computer, there are different options. One of them is to put the text in to the text ot youe email. (As opposed to sending it as an attached document.) This will allow you to cut and paste the text. This will not be what you want if you are filling in a form or incluging pictures. But it is perfect for pure text.
    Also, fancy printers now have email addresses. If you have one of those, you can send your work straight to a printer.
    Finally, the synchronisation is nice, but connecting to a wifi puts a heavy drain on the battery. It is far better to just turn this off by default. Synchronising only take a couple of minutes, so you can do it at the end of the day or the end of the week.

      Wow thank you for all the info!! This is really helpful. I actually just bought a new pen to see how it stacks up to their version and filmed a bit of B roll for that if it’s of interest to anyone. Love this about the sync and about the Shell case. Thank you very much for all the tips!

    0:22 I am constantly amazed at the ways we humans have devised to grasp our writing utensils! Are you using your ring finger and pinky to brace the pen? Trying this way, I get less tension building up in my hand (which is freaking great!), but I don't feel like I can vary pressure as easily. I may switch to this grip when I am printing.

    • @YvesThePoet
      @YvesThePoet  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I was hoping no one would notice my strange way of holding pens 😂 Great comment. Yes - I rest it on my ring finger. I don’t think mine is a better way… just a habit. Nice review, now I am better informed about the device before purchasing it. One function I did not find here is whether it is possible to use this device for MS Teams meetings if one wants to share handwritten content on the screen in MS Teams meeting.
    PS.You are very beautiful - great hair and dark eyes.

      Thank you for watching. If you go to the remarkable website and search “Screen Share” they have some helpful info about connecting for presentations. But I’m not sure that it works with MS Teams directly. The one big drawback of this device is that it’s not synced to apps in the way that a Boox tablet would be, for example.

    I got the TypeFolio because I was hoping to do some coding on my reMarkable2, but it’s missing too many keys to be actually useful for that. Normal writing, sure - coding, no.

  • @newbeginnings8566

    Remarkable are going to lose the battle if they don't do the following:
    1. Reduce the price of the R2 by 30%
    2. Include a basic pen in the price
    3. The accessories are stupidly overpriced. So sensible people buy a 3rd party pen and cover (folio).
    4. The ability to transfer files seamlessly needs to be made as people will get annoyed as it stands..
    5. The subscription service after paying their prices is just an insult..
    Many people will just say no to the total price and buy an Ipad... Not such a good writing experience but the R2 is just not capable of doing enough to justify the asking price..
