Back in the '80s, Keith was asked was he afraid going solo and performing without Mick. His answer was "no, but I'm afraid performing without Charlie."
Jimmy Page would say the same thing about Bonzo
I read Mick and Charlie had no love lost…Mick was a diva….
Keith ego matters with Mick, no more.
Charlie and Mick shared maning things together out of the band, stage design creation and few others things.
It's hard to imagine sharing 59 years of your life with a friend and co-worker, then losing him. RIP Charlie.
Mick is the voice...
Keith is the soul...
Ronnie is the humor...
but Charlie was the heartbeat of the Stones.
RIP Mr. Charlie Watts - you were simply the best and will forever be missed by your legion of fans across the globe.
Beautifully put!
Mick Taylor played guitar. Get it right!
Brian was the brain !
I’m pretty sure it’s a band with instruments not mystical poetical expressions uniting to conjure music
Best words ever
Man... I can feel the hurt in his voice.
That's his normal voice.
It's sad to see all these Rocknroll icons dying off you're never see the likes or the greatness again. This was my favorite part of the interview
It's sad culturally, that the rock star has gone the way of the Cowboy, there is very little rebellious spirit for the youth to et behind. Not to mention people spending too much time on computers.
@@sjewitt22 couldn't had said it better absolutely so agree ⭐👍✌️
We were born at the right time!
Just imagine a "rock concert" 30 years from now --- "ladies and gents this cat was perfecting Auto-Tune way back in 2007 ..... he's a LEGEND!"
The shocking part about Charlie passing for me is that I always imagined he would be the last to go. He was the least wildest out the lot overall.
Same with the "sixth Stone", Ian Stewart. It's so weird.
Totally agree
The shocking/disconcerting thing for me is that Charlie's the first to go of essentially old age (rather than chemical or otherwise premature inducement). Calls sharply into question one's own mortality....
You will be even more shocked when Keith is the last one standing... maybe even outliving Ron Wood.
@@Genious. ..and then he will be picked up by a spacecraft and taken to his home world
Charlie was the heartbeat of the fans too!
I've been waiting for this, finally talk about Charlie instead of social media. Thank you Howard.
I feel so bad for Keith… You can tell that he genuinely loved and liked Charlie and that he misses him terribly
Keith only ever talks of Charlie in the highest regards. More so than any other of his colleagues.
Keith only ever talks of Charlie in the highest regards. More so than any other of his colleagues.
What a gifted musician......Mick is obviously missing his dear friend a great deal😪
we belong to the generation that will see all this legends die. Crazy
True
I really hope they upload the full Jagger interview on here.
Always impressed by how articulate Mick is...Ronnie and Keith too. Love to hear them speak...and play dirty blues.
Keith is not that articulate --- he kinda mumbles and rambles and cackles a lot LOL
Absolutely beautiful words from Mick about Charlie Watts 🥁🙏🎶❤️🩹
Cannot wait to hear this whole interview.
It's on Sirius.. lasts 41 minutes
@@bigtip8371 But you have to pay?
@@yellyman5483 Yes. But you can get it for $10 a month. I joined just so I could hear this interview. It was good. Hopefully Mick will do more with Howard Stern.
@@robertweingartner2055 Id love to hear Keith
In the early 80's late 70's I liked The Rolling Stones, now I Love Them.. God Bless Mick Jagger, Rest in Peace Charlie Watts.... 🙏
Charlie was subtle but very versatile. Stones music went in all directions over the years and he always kept it in groove.
All these guys are in their mid to late 70’s. Some on borrowed time. I have loved this band as far as I can remember and they were the soundtrack of my youth and my retirement years. I miss Charlie terribly, and so do they, but I will relish their decision to continue the tour and entertain their legions of fans around the world.
You were a big influence to me Charlie. I miss you.
Are you a drummer?
Charlie Watts was the reason I decided to pick up the drums. Tumbling Dice is my go-to song to practice on. I thankfully saw the stones at the Philadelphia show before he passed away. It was one of the greatest concerts ever!
It was a shock to learn that Charlie had passed away. I saw the Stones back in 2006, and they were absolutely amazing. The show must go on, but i think this is a very sad tour for Mick and the Stones.
@Dionysus No. 2006. "A bigger bang"
Looking good jagger!
Being with the Steel Wheel Tour, it seems like yesterday.. Mr. Watts, was the glue that held the group together a voice of reason, always acknowledged everyone with a look and a smile, with the exercises before stage entry...
so if he's the blue, why are they not only ROLLING on without him but starting an entirely new chapter
@@cultfilmfreakreviews he was the glue not the blue...if you listened to some interviews Mr. Watts, told them to continue on without him.. did Bruce Springsteen stop when Vinny Lopez, Danny Feteroni, or Clearance Clemmons expired, no the kept on going several other examples are available is you care to look...
heartbreaking... amazing drummer. The feel Charlie Watts had was a killer. It pains me so much realizing he’s not with us anymore. But his contributions and drumming will be forever
RIP Charlie. Always had huge respect for your drumming and you as a person. Thank you for every beat you played.
Made me think of The Stones song Miss You. Charlie was one of Mick's people. Rip.
I’m gonna see the Stones October 4th! RIP Charlie Watts
Me too bro. Also have tickets to Detroit can't wait, wish Charlie was still alive but I'll take the stones how i can get em for as long as i can get em lol. Long live the rolling stones.
They grew up together as adults. They were more than just a popular band for each other and we also grew into our adulthood with their music which is the landscape or landmarks of our lives as well. How lucky for us to have been a part of those times in music and way of being.
Mick is showing his emotional side and how he feels about Charlie 🎉🎉. Mick had respect for Charlie Watts 🎉🎉. Mick misses Charlie very touching interview 🎉🎉
This tears me up a bit. Charlie was a part of my family for many years. You grow up with these legends and they are your musical family.
Charlie Watts was a class act, Rock In Paradise (R. I.P.) 🥁🙏🏻💔😪
Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazilian fans will miss Charlie. 🇧🇷
Led Zeppelin were amazing individual skilled artists while The Rolling are more of a band, they are not so skilled if you take them separately
@@vincenzostr4488 So true
@@vincenzostr4488 When you say artists i hear instrumentists, writting such a perfect crazy catalog as Mick and Keith that is being artists.
Finally, Howard interviews a Stone!
a band he's bashed for years
I love Charlie, Ronnie, and the Glimmer Twins - Mick and Keith.
Let us not forget Bill Wyman (bassist for 30 years), Darryl, and etc.
don't forget the FOUNDER of the band.
Also Ian Stewart
Wow he finally got to interview jagger I might have to actually check this one out .
Charlie is undoubtly the gentleman of the Rock n Roll
I'm glad Howard finally interviewed the Stones. Rip Charlie
Man I loved Charlie...Mick obviously heartbroken and things are very different now . I'm listening to "Monkey Man" over and over so love the version with video on Charlie. Just all around the best cheers me up . Love love the intro to this tune and dug Charlie waiting to kick in and do his thing! Saw them live twice . I'll never forget ! Love you guys..Can't wait for the full interview with Mick. 🎶🎶🎶❣❣❣
“I played in a band all across the land, forever young with the lips and tongue,…pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name”
Whooooo whoooo
Love ya Mick ❤️. Charlie would love to see you guys rocking on.
Mick seems like a nice guy 💕
He is
Post more of these from the mick interview please!
I hope Mr Stern was paying attention while Mick carefully corrected the notion that Charlie was simply a steady timekeeper. Charlie added the swing that's essential to the Stones, along with his very idiosyncratic "swerve".
I wonder why they chose that monotonous beat instead of something that danced. Charlie's died, but his drumming is in our bones. Love, blessings, thanks and praises on all the Rolling Stones.
Charlie Watts Forever RIP
Love to Charlie ❤️
So grateful to have seen 99 Stones shows with Charlie spanning over 40 years ❤️ also hit three shows for the 2021 tour missed Charlie but the band played on and that’s what Charlie would want ❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸
Rest in peace, Charlie, we love you forever!
such a legend
Thanks Howard. Charlie is a legend. Thank you mick awesome piece
We miss you Charlie
Thx for this interview. For letting us know a little more of why these shows
Charlie - he wasn’t a Diva , that’s the last thing you want in a drummer 😂😂😂
We were lucky to have Charlie all those years and the music will always live on
A heartbeat is a good way to describe Watts
Charlie the most innately tasteful and regal of the group. Pure class and thoughtful intelligence
Gotta upload the full interview on CZcams. Please fellas.
R.I.P. Charlie Watts, the Smiling Gentleman Drummer. 😊🥁❤️
Let’s get one thing straight…Charlie was not Micks drummer….Mick was Charlie’s F’N singer…
One of the most famous stones stories of all time
R.I.P. Mister Watts
Charlie was THE STONES' drummer, not just Mick's
Mick here is talking about a friend.
I loved hearing that story, regarding the conversation between Charlie and Mick.
Nicely done, Howard
Where's my drummer?!?" He's in heaven now, Mick.
The greatest rock n roll band EVER!!!!! Charlie was as much to blame for that as anybody. What a band!!
Rest well Charles.
Playing drums in heaven
The Rolling Stones are the all time greatest! R.I.P. Charlie
Very rare that Howard shuts up and lets the guest talk, That's the respect The Rolling Stones deserve. Thank you Mr. Stern.
The Stones are nothing without Charlie Watts. RIP.
Loved Charlie because he was so no nonsense in character and was in perfect contrast with the rest of group.
RIP Charlie Watts
When MJ was asked in the late 60s on advice on starting a rock/R&B band that will last more than a year or two, he replied that first you have to find a disciplined, well-behaved, & amicable jazz drummer and form the band from there.
The pulse of Rock music Charlie Watts, Rest in Peace legend.
I drove Keith Richards for Detroit Super Bowl and a few other tours. Charlie Watts in the hierarchy of the band would be the lead car. It was his group.
Heartbreaking
They always ask if when it will be 'the last time' for the Stones but I can finally say this may be it. What footage I have seen left me with the sense that there was something missing, and I realized it when Mick said Charlie was the heartbeat of the band. All respect to Steve Jordan, but they are not the same band anymore. Their heart is missing.
**I've had a 'crush' on Sir Mick
Since before he was knighted
But Alas, my woo
Is so unrequited.....**
; - )
--just a fan....
Thank you Charlie, for introducing me to Earl Bostic!
Miss Charlie.
I remember reading the story of when Charlie punched mick in the face after shaving and putting on a Saville Row suit that almost sent him out the window of Micks hotel room.
Wasn't that from Keith Richard's autobiography. I read that from his book. Mick was carrying on like a prima donna, wanting to know where "his" drummer was. That didn't go well with Charlie, went to his hotel room, and popped him one and said, I'm not your drummer.
I heard he hit him in the hotel lounge and knocked him into a plate of salmon
Charlie later said he was drunk and regretted doing that. Classy man who didnt brag about using violence.
CHARLIE forever R.I.P. 🥁🙏🥁🙏💔
rip Charlie omgod how wee all miss U bless uwhere ever u are gone not forgotten
Charlie great in 1978..
Miss you
Can’t believe Stern is still on ...
R.i.p. he dragged so beautifully. He will be missed
That was frickin awesome. god bless CW
That drum beat is Charlie's isolated track from Cant You Hear Me Knocking
Charlie was the best, a steady engine with artistic flair. Keith led, Charlie followed and that nanosecond difference had a lot to do with the Stones' unique sound. I really had no idea until Ronnie made an appearance on the Larry King Radio Program years ago, and explained all that.
That beat is can’t you hear me knocking.
and Keith still lives . . . . amazing
Charlie probably had the chops from his jazz background to be a flashy drummer like a Bonham if that's what they wanted for the band
Will never be the same yet the Rolling Stones will go on 😊
roll on
Saw them tonight at So Fi arena. Insane!
Awesome
God bless the Stones
The drum beat is his album take of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?". They isolated the track during the tribute.
XXOO Charlie.
Charlie had the best fashion sense as well!
It's sad the Rolling Stones are gone forever.
Gimme shelter opening is best of Charlie
Was at that first St. Louis show. Very sad losing Charlie but Steve Jordan is a good replacement.
I carry ur spirit in me charlie watts
I'm not your drummer, You Are MY singer
Exactly Charlie would have wanted the band to carry on Amen Charlie now you're playing for the good Lord. And your drums are made of gold and most of all they shine.
