But not before Republican lawmakers voted again to silence a Democratic member of the Tennessee Three for speaking out. Democrat Justin Jones joins MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell to discuss.

I was until 2015. The qanon crap was gain8ng ground plus all the bs trump was saying. I voted for Obama over McCain because of Palin. I do not like kamala Harris fir a valid reason. As a DA she wanted to ban people in jail to get DNA evidence to help them prove their innocence in wrongful convictions. We all aren't part of the cult.

Lawrence O'Donnell is simply the best and my favorite not just on MSNBC but in the NEWS business. Lawrence speaks clearly and concisely and he isn't mealy mouthed like some talking heads and cable news hosts. Mr. O'Donnell isn't afraid to speak Truth to Power and I love how he nightly calls out Donald tRUMP as ''The stupidest man in America.''

Yep. It's why they're taking libraries out of 28 Houston schools in almost exclusively districts with a majority minority population. If they give those children the tools they need to fight against their oppression, they end up with young people like this. Young people who are not willing to go backward to cede to those used to holding power. When you've always experienced privilege, equality feels like oppression. They give me a lot of hope.

Both are impeccable examples of religious fundamentalism. It’s enormously dangerous, especially when paired with governance. That’s why it should meet resistance when it is trying to attain (and especially if it succeeds in gaining access to) positions of power and are able to utilize that power to enact their own fundamentalist worldview in ways that inhibit the freedoms and human rights of a democratic and pluralistic people. That’s why we had a strict separation between church and state. At least until this radical and ideologically motivated SCOTUS changed course on that 😏

The most recent good I know of was yesterday when Biden's labor department proposed raising the annual income requirement to 55k for employers to be required to honor time-and-a-half pay requirement for work exceeding 40 hours per week. This will result in better wages for about 3.6M workers.
Under Trump, this threshold had been dropped to about $35k to allow employers to withhold overtime pay by making low-wage employees into "managers" and depriving them of their time-and-a-half pay. Generally, Democrats help regular workers and Republicans generally hurt us.

I don't think we can or should get rid of a political party. The Republican party was once a force for good, especially very early in the 20th century. But even if they were always as bad as they are now, no one should have the right to eliminate a political party.
Instead, we should require all elections to do vote counting by Ranked Choice Voting. This would make it so people could cast their 1st choice votes in support of a candidate that may be part of a third party and a 2nd choice vote to a major party. This would allow voters to support who they really want without inadvertently helping hand a victory to a candidate who is truly despicable.
