    Holy handpans!!! Very informative video and great comparison of the four pans. One quick note, it may have been helpful to edit in a short clip of each handpan back to back towards the end of the video. I found myself having to back up the video to hear the previous handpan and then jump forward again for comparison. I felt like I was doing a lot of scrubbing to really hear the tonal nuances. BTW, I don't say that in a way that's meant to sound negative. I always appreciate it when people give me that sort of feedback on my vids.

    I look forward to the day you have a really decent Handpan in your lap. I can tell you’re a great musician and I think you’ll be blown away by the sounds that will come out of a quality pan made by a reputable builder! Totally completely different than those 4 you’ve got there! A good pan will make you just drift into another realm….. Trust me on this….lol…because from experience, this I know is truth….. 🤗🛸🎶🦋

    @Musical Molly Khan - Glad you uploaded a new video. I was thinking about you yesterday. I saw an interesting instrument. It was a Harp Guitar. It's a combination acoustic guitar and harp. It sounded amazing and I think it's an instrument you'll really love. You should definitely try to see if you can pick one up for yourself. I didn't see any Harp Guitar vids on your channel so this perhaps may be a new instrument for you. Definitely would be new to your channel. Keep up the good work :)
    also, nice sweatshirt. Looks comfy :)

    It looks like I'm going to negatively crash this party and I apologize for that. I own 6 handpans (1Harper's handpan, 1 Zen handpan, 2 Tacta handpans and 2 Saraz handpans). The instruments you are demonstrating are quite inferior in sound compared to top shelf handpans, thus the low prices for them. I promise all of you - unless you are getting a best friend's best deal from a reputable top shelf maker, you'll most likely be spending between $2200 and $3500 for a quality handpan - and you will immediately hear the difference. Be well and happy tunes. ✌️

    • @thathandpanlady4510
      @thathandpanlady4510 Před 2 lety +6

      Hey my friend!! I totally agree with you!! Tuning is definitely off on these…. And as we both know, the sound quality is totally different on a “good” pan as opposed to an inexpensive one. Truth once again that you get what you pay for! But for anyone looking for that “first” pan, I’d still suggest the Acolyte series thru Nirvana Handpan. That was my first pan, and it runs for $1,199 thru the Nirvana site. My other advice would be to go directly through the builders as opposed to EBay, Craig’s lists, Amazon, Guitar Center, etc. 🤗🛸🎶

      I own a Harper and a Novapans' Gen 7 and I can honestly say that the sustain you get on a Gen 7 is out of this world. So it's clear now that he days of needing to spend upwards of $2000 are long gone. It's about time someone made quality handpans for quality prices after all. But hey, the Harper pan was great until Nova came around!

    So for a beginner, are these worth while? I thought they sounded fine, but in the comments you have people saying that these don't do harmonics well and should only get a quality one which are $2,000. Is it worth it to pick one of these up to start? Also wonder if we could do an update on the As Teman one if it's still tuned or if it's become out of tune.

    Hmm... I don't know. I'm a bit picky about the harmonic overtones made by singing steel sound sculptures. The relatively inexpensive ones are not a great deal after all. 2200 USD is starting to look like a better deal over all. *Cough* not that I can afford anything right now. One day!

    Novapan have been a middleman for years, buying what ever they can get hold of for as cheap as possible and selling it on at a higher rate.. the fact is they found someone to make them a tuned instrument for half the price the sell it for..
    you shouldnt have generations of half tuned instruments going for cheaper..

    A great video,and I'm glad that the company send you those for free... But what people will find out as they start looking at the Hand Pan is it is a VERY overpriced instrument at $500.00 USD or higher prices. It's sad to see companies out there charges like over 20 times above their whole cost price in materials to make each instrument just to price gouge and rip people off. Not to mention it's a huge opposite of the spiritual and healing aspect that attracts people to the instrument. As a helpful comment, if people are interested in the hand pan, try to get a steel tongue drum also called a tank drum, you can find these massed produced usually in the Key of C Major and the 10 inch ones are great for around $50.00 or less. There is also "steel tongue pans" that are flatter can be played more with just the hands and is hybrid of the steel tongue drum/tank drum and hand pan. Hopefully I'm giving back more positive than the greed and negative of the companies who make the hand pan drums.

    • @yohanleclaire1560
      @yohanleclaire1560 Před rokem

      I don’t own a handpan (yet), but I would like to add something to your comment. Usually for a quality handpan, you need to start looking between 1500$-3000$ (can go higher for other reasons). It is expensive, but you need to understand it is a hand made instrument and it is not that expensive if you take it to consideration. Obviously, since it is not that popular and hard to find, there is a lot of scam around it so you need to be careful and do research. I don’t think a lot of people recommend buying it from amazon, you better off contacting some makers.

      Tounge and tank drums are pretty different to handpans. Tuning the latter professionally is very difficult and takes forever, hence the price

    • @jamie.miller.inspiring
      @jamie.miller.inspiring Před rokem +1

      I had the opposite opinion, when I watched how long some reputable builders take tuning over and over between each heat cycle i thought even at a few thousand they are cheap considering just how many hours are involved, let alone the time spent perfecting their skills to build an incredible drum.
      Its no different than people paying huge money for an architect, you pay for what you get in most cases!

    • @oldtiger8181

      @@jamie.miller.inspiring Nope and very much wrong. The majority of theses videos you see on CZcams here are simply promotional The retail price is marked up 50 times or higher then the wholesale price to make.
