Dying by drowning has got to be one of the most helpless, horrible ways to literally feel your life slipping away from your body...and there's nothing you can do but let it happen. Rest In Peace, and condolences to the family and friends of these people, all over affected by this storm that passed across America.

I can see that happening. But for someone like me, I'm going to fight to stay alive cuz I got things that I like to live for.
@Potter Charles Yup. Weather has always been like a pendulum. The more extreme the droughts in one area, the more severe flooding in another. The more frigid the temps in one area, the more extreme the heat in another. The Earth has always balanced itself out because it won't push climate UP without the effects of that ending in a downward trend of temps.
We have had record cold weather, record snowfalls, and record rains - all in the past few years, since the temperatures have been recorded. The crisis isn't the weather; it's the lack of education about the weather and the "experts" pushing an agenda onto the citizens of this planet.
I just read about a mother and father lost 4 of their children (all under 8) after they were swept away after being stuck in a tree for hours. This is devastating 😢

I live in Central Ky close to Lexington. In the middle again just crying and overwhelmed. This area is very poverty striken in several of the beautiful counties. Im feeling guilty because 10 years ago after we sent mission teams to El Salvadoor a youth group went to the counties near W Va.. We were shocked at how much we didnt know. In tears..Prayimg. Thank you God for our Gov. and for your Love..
poverty in Appalachia has been around for decades, instead of sending billions of dollars of arms to the Ukraine, how about spending a few billion to fight poverty in KY and even do some flood control to prevent disasters like this -- KY can be made better and safer for all

WTF? I don't get the whole idea of praying to the very god who supposedly had the power to prevent the event in the first place. If it's all "God's will," then the ones who died, the ones who lost loved ones, the one who lost all their possessions, that was all his will, too. Simplest answer is that there is no god. I wish we could soak that water up and put it on our beautiful trees and hillsides my county lost 917 family homes in our most recent fires and seeing the ridges of our mountains from outer space just burning like a blast furnace it makes me wish we could take your water burden and save both regions. I know personally people that went to bed thinking all was well to awaken to water at the door barely escaping with their lives. People are missing, hundreds of homes destroyed, millions in damage, I haven't had water sense it all started and lost power for 24hrs I'm one of the lucky ones seeing the comments on here the pure Hate spewing out of people I wonder if u would say this to the mother that just pulled her drowned kids out or the son who packed all his family out on his back only to go back to a house in time to watch his grandparents get washed away and the home collapse in a wave of water think about this before you spew your hateful comments.

I got a warning this is going to be bad and i did not get this warning from the local weather. I stayed up all night and into the next morning watching a huge flood that stayed up high and the water did not go back down until early the next morning. That is how much flood water that was up in our creek that had to flow out of here. Our creek is at least 10 miles long with two major forks.
Gheez, worse part: loss of life and then having to deal with insurance companies that will say you don't have the particular coverage and other BS like that.
Alot of people can't afford insurance.
Some insurance companies are now refusing to do business in flood-prone states.
In the past, US military discovered that the middle of the country is going to become flooded. US Navy has a map. This is just the start.
Aqueduct infrastructure especially for flood situations need to be constructed....underground,as well as more drains for rural areas
it takes money, and the Feds need to come in and help the state/counties work on this

This is how the world has been turning since the creation and if one does not know that it will alarm them when they discover this fact. This is heart breaking, the west can't get any rain, and the south and north east gets more water than they can handle. Climate Change is real, and I wished that sometime soon we realized the danger we are in because we refuse to do anything about our dependence on Coal, oil and gas!

One witness said that there was a foot of water filling the house every 5 minutes! At least 26 people reported dead so far now…
A family of 6 was on the roof when their entire house was swept away! They said on the news that they held onto the children and a tree for as long as they could but the fast moving water ended up ripping their 4 children from their arms!
The news reports are catastrophic! Water pouring into apartments through the kitchen tiles, even backing up tubs and toilets, flooding homes until furniture ends up floating! Some houses have drained out leaving multiple feet of mud and debris, if the house is left at all!!!

Why are there so many areas of Kentucky so poverty stricken? Dont they have powerful poltical representation in Washington? Do they not work to bring relief to these povety stricken people? Why do they vote for the same people in Washington who dont give a phuck about them? Where is the disconnect?
Honestly, they Don't Get to "Elect" anyone there. Most Kentuckians have known for a few decades now that the Selections are all rigged for the ones the corrupt ones Want in office no matter the will of the people. That's how TurtleNeck the Con McConnell got in to begin with. Same with Bashear. The people didn't want either of them. But when Selections are rigged, you get whoever they TELL you that you will have. Say what you will, but it's been that way for a long long time there.
All of east Kentucky is extremely poverty stricken. Central an western side of Kentucky are like 2 completely different states an or country. It used to be thriving here when there was coal mines. Them coal mines have been shut down by the thousands causing so many to lose jobs. It’s affected this area for years an the state continues to do nothing about bringing jobs to this area. Many many people I know have to drive in excess of an hr + to work a decent paying job.
The money is in Central/Northern Kentucky and that’s who Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell represent. Sure, they’ll sign on to Gov. Beshear’s letter requesting federal disaster relief, if it helps them get votes, but they don’t care about Eastern Kentucky.
The reason Eastern Kentucky is so poor is that the land and people have been exploited by outsiders for centuries - mostly, but not exclusively coal companies. The latest has been Big Pharma, which introduced Oxycontin and the resulting addiction epidemic.

My god, so many people have lost their homes. My grandparents were in Jenkins ky, and they were trapped in the second floor for 2 days because of this flood. 50 years of memories are just gone in one night.
