    Great video guys. My current trike is about 8YO and I’m due for an upgrade. I hope to buy another recumbent trike this year and this model and set up looks really good. Please keep up the helpful videos for those of us that don’t have a dealership close to home! I know ICE is a rock solid brand and you’ve been very good to me on every transaction.

    I have a Sprint X Tour non-suspended and I love it. I have no assistance on my ride and I’m hardly ever drained at the end of my rides. The Sprint X Tour is great I had a few different options added, which made the final build a little over 6k.

      I have only rear suspension, but altered it by getting a rohloff hub and 44-32-22 chainrings making it super easy to climb hills.

    I purchased an ICE Adventure HD with a Shimano 6100 and the Enviolo Automatiq. I tend to ride up to 60 miles at a time. My riding style is to periodically slow down as a break rather than stopping, and I like to change my cadence. That is not easy to do on the fly with a phone app. While the Automatiq worked well, it didn't suit me so I updated to a Rohloff Speed Hub and I absolutely love it. For shorter rides around town, I have a Specialized Turbo Como 5 IGH with the Enviolo Automatiq and in that application, the Enviolo Automatiq is GREAT. The one difference of note is that Specialized uses the Brose motor and and the MasterMind TCU (the computer/controller) has the ability to adjust the target cadence of the Automatiq. The moral of this long-winded story is I agree with Garrett! The Enviolo Automatiq is great technology, but make sure to do a test ride that simulates your desired use case.

    I have the manual version of the N380 and a TSDZ2 on my cargo bike. Great combo! I'm curious about the automatic, but seriously, the manual changing is no biggie, and I love the smooth operation of the N380.

      You should really consider adding a automatiq unit. I use a reise&muller bicycle with bosch cx (85nm) with it and after 8000km i can tell ypu it opens up a whole new way of riding. i do about 50km a day and have not shifted in ages and always at your personal peddle speed in my case i somehow end up at 68rpm.

    Have an ICE Sprint X 26 Tour. Wouldn't want an electric motor due to range which I assume will be similar to a mountain bike with an e8000 motor which can be a low as 20 miles in trail mode with a 500w battery. The Sprint X is designed for touring which is alot more than 20 miles. my manual trike using a rohloff 14 speed hub combined with 3 chainrings (44-32-22) has no issues with hills as very low gearing but can hit 30mph before spining out.

    • @UtahTrikesOnline

    • @jimstruve3602
      @jimstruve3602 Před 10 měsíci +2

      I have an Enviolo Automatiq on my Specialized Turbo Como 5 IGH. You can coast at any time. The hub should automatically change the gear ratio as the wheel speed slows down, so the ratio should be correct at whatever speed you resume pedaling.

  • @larryhoworth8407

    This setup sounds great for touring. A couple of questions, What mode was the motor in for this vid? Eco?, Trail? What gear does the hub go to when you are rolling free and not pedaling ?

    • @UtahTrikesOnline
      @UtahTrikesOnline  Před 10 měsíci +1

      In this video, I was in boost for I'd say 90% of the ride and in tour for the other 10%. As far as coasting goes, the hub seems to hold steady at whichever ratio it was in when coasting and immediately adjusts when it senses pedal input again.

    • @UtahTrikesOnline
      @UtahTrikesOnline  Před 10 měsíci

      We didn't really choose the EP8 over the Bafang for this video per se, but it was that the Shimano EP8 and the Enviolo Automatiq combo is one of the packages ICE offers from the factory. So we ordered one up to be able to test it in its factory configuration!

    What are your thoughts on this one compared to the Rohloff?

    • @UtahTrikesOnline
      @UtahTrikesOnline  Před 10 měsíci +1

      So I absolutely love how the Rohloff performs and feels. As far as IGHs go Rohloff is definitely one of the best in my opinion. It's an incredible manual option for sure. I also believe that the Automatiq was meant for a different kind of rider. I used to do a bunch of bike touring so the Rohloff I prefer slightly more as I can more easily adjust my pace and cadence, but the Automatiq is just a blast. Nothing to worry about other than steering really. It makes it really nice to just hop on and get a ride in. It's definitely targeted towards more casual riders, but I had plenty of fun testing it out. So, all in all it really depends on the riding you're doing. I'd say it's one of those things that if I could have one of each I would, but if you have the opportunity, definitely test ride one of each and find out which one is better for you! I hope this helps!

  • @Jon-uj2uw
    @Jon-uj2uw Před 9 měsíci +2

    • @UtahTrikesOnline
      @UtahTrikesOnline  Před 9 měsíci +1

      These trikes do get expensive but we actually do have a trike around the 1K range! The Sunseeker brand trikes are more affordable and a great intro to triking. The Sunseeker Eco Tad is near 1K with a price of $1400 and if you wanted to go even cheaper the Eco Delta 3 SX is a bit cheaper at $1289.

    • @hpvrider
      @hpvrider Před 8 měsíci +1

      ICE are never going to produce a trike around 1K, but if your budget is limited, then look for a second hand model like the ICE QNT, TNT, Explorer, Trice Mini, Pioneer or Micro and you might be able to get something much cheaper to start with. I´ve previously owned the Ross Trice (Pre ICE), the Pioneer and the QNT, and 2 years ago bought my first electric assist Sprint X Tour, and that was a life changer, initially with only rear suspension as it was as much as I could afford, I later upgraded to have the front suspension and changed the tyres to GT365 to make it the equivalent of the special edition Sprint X 365.

      it must have been a cheap car! My Sprint X Tour cost €7,600 and after upgrading to full suspension and changing the tyres it ended up costly €9k. 4 years ago I bought a new Peugeot 3008 SUV with 2km on the clock in a special deal for €26,800, when the list price was €32k. Ok, I could buy a reasonable car for that, but it's still worth every penny. I'm having the time of my life and don't care what this cost.
