  • We had the pleasure of custom tuning this 2018 Charger RT using HP Tuners. The car came in equipped with a Cold Air Intake, Larger Throttle Body, and a set of Longtube Headers. The car baselined, with mods already installed, at 319hp and 385tq to the tires. After tuning we were able to make 331hp and 396tq. An increase of 12hp and 11tq with our custom tuning.

    They did something wrong on that car, either cheap headers, bad intake, or it needs spark plugs or something. It should be making a bit more power. Who knows how it's been maintained or worked on

      These cars are more regularly between 300-330 whp stock on our dyno.... but yes it should have made a little more than what it did that day.

    It's a shame people concentrate on the peak HP so much. It's a beautiful torque curve and the car's peak torque is exceptional. In everyday driving, I bet this car is more fun than one that has more typical peak numbers (e.g., ~340 HP and ~370 ft-lbs TQ).
    All that said, it looks like it's dropping off at high rpms. The stock peak HP is reported at 5250 rpm. With bolt-ons, it should stretch the peak out a bit to 5300-5400 rpm. This car appears to be peaking at 4900 rpm pre-tune, 4600 rpm after first tune, 4750 rpm after second tune, and 5000 for the final tune.

      @sdracingllc1594  Před 7 měsíci +1

      So we have to use wheel speed to simulate rpm. Inductive pickup has never worked. So rpm is off slightly from actual, no more than 200rpm +/- typically. Bolt-ons wont stretch the peak power higher into the rpm range. The intake manifold is what limits that. The 5.7 mani is made for low end grunt. The 6.4 mani is made to shift the power to the right.

    • @bennyboyy7
      @bennyboyy7 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'd argue the cam is the determining factor of your power band and all the bolt ons are what make it achieve that peak number and/or stretch it down low a bit. Every cam isn't the same so they all won't run the same from the same addons. Peak power is negligable though, you hit it for a split second and its gone. Not worth having a large peak in the power band especially when you have a V8. They make a wide range of power easier than peaking high in one spot.

    What is the typical loss difference between modern auto and manual transmission. I remember for the LS1 F-bodies, it was assumed the 4-spd auto was about 18% loss and the 6-spd manual was about 13% loss.
