  • The 408 swap continues. Changing out the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm is one of the preventative maintenance things I do at the beginning of each season. it takes about 10-20 minutes and creates 100lbs of insurance for 2lbs of effort. This is another great starter repair if your just getting into racing or repair work. Its also a great money saver, for $7-10 you use the same housing rather than replace the whole assembly and typically you don't have to remove any fuel lines to make the swap.

Could you please tell me EXACTLY how ran your fuel lines from tank to carb on your foxbody? I’m building an 87 lx drag car. I would like to use my stock tank with a tube pickup in place of the EFI in tank pump, as well as a Holley red pump I have. I also have a Holley fuel pressure regulator like the one you use. I’m running a 650 proform street carburetor with the choke horn removed. Thank you

Great question, I actually have a 5 gallon fuel cell mounted in the old spare tire well. I have #10 supply line run forward after passing thru a bulkhead connector to exit the spare well along the right rocker panel, and turning up the fire wall/torque box. I then have a #6 return going back to the cell along the same path. Those 2 line of course end at the regulator. I have #6 line going to the carb.

Is that a 12-803 that you just routed like a bp? Or 12-803bp?

I am looking to adapt a 34 pict-3 carburetor on my truck. the carburetor does not have a return line. the holley 12-804 fuel pressure regulator has no return line but I need a fuel pressure regulator that has a return line on it . the problem Is that it has to be 1-4 psi like the 12-804 that does not have a return line. the 12-803 is a high pressure regulator an does have a return line. do you think that if I buy the 12-803. the spring kit would reduce the psi to 1-4 . thanks for the help in advance.

      Afternoon
The 12-804 is set at 2-3 psi from the factory. It should just be a matter of using the appropriate spring for you pressure range.

@@FabRaceModRepeat I am trying to prevent vapor lock issues by having a return line.

A thought have you made sure your fuel tank vent isn’t clogged?

Use the 12-803 with the low pressure spring.

It can be done however, its easier and probably cheaper; to just by a referenced one ready made now days.
