Minato's chakra control is insane. He came back from a mission with jiraya where he faced 2 tailed beasts, told Kushina "sorry can't train with you on sealing jutsu, I want to train on my own today", goes into the forest, tries to create a Rasengan, doesn't work, Jiraya tells him about the hair whorl, light bulb lights up in Minato's head, BOOM Rasengan
Then he gives it the single worst name of all time.

I think the thing people don’t acknowledge about Minato when compared to the other powerhouses in the series is that all his feats come purely from his genius alone. All his feats were done from his own talent. From enhancing the uzumaki seal to his own version, to surpassing tobirama’s flyng raijin. He didn’t have the benefit of owning any of the eye powers or being a jichuriki. So when he gets compared to things like itachi if he was healthy or other eye users, it’s kinda not fair? I think I can best describe it as Minato being the pinnacle of what a normal ninja can become without the added benefits of having any of the eyes.
yeah, I think Minato was a genius that came up with new stuff or enhanced existing stuff, he learned what he could then took it to the next level, Itachi learned all that he could and stopped there, he relied on his eyes a fair bit.

Its not unfair its just a part of uchiha to have sharingan and a part of jinjuriki to have tailed beast.
On the same note based on that logic I could claim that when minato fought yellow mask obito that its unfair that minatos guenis figured ou kamui near instantly.
Just like how minatos speed or brilliance isnt unfair, its not unfair that jinjurikis have a tailed beast in them or that uchihas have sharingon because thats part of who they are
I always interpreted it as Minato had better Reflexes.. while the actual teleportation was the same, Minato could activate the jutsu faster.

@@deathcon6261 i think arguinh chakra usage just to make it seem characters are more powerful because they have more chakra when it became chakra doesnt even matter. Never once do we see any one die from over use. Naruto and sasuke spammed moves and ran out then regained so fast that it became a plot device . So answer yes probably the reason is usage however its not relevant in terms of actual use of characters. Shadow clones were supposed to cut your chakra in half every time one is made. But naruto made 1k in his first fight so he divide his chakra 1 thousand times. So you have to imagine his life force either is infinite without kyubi help or doesnt really matter. Kakashi died technically of out of chakra but he took too much damage so its iffy if its chakra or pain who killed him.
Reading that Minato chapter felt like the days of 2007-2014, reading Naruto weekly. The art felt nostalgic, the nuanced story telling showed us Masashi Kishimoto hasn’t lost a step, and Minato really did come across as strong. Hope we get one that shows us what happened to Hashirama after his battle with Madara. How he died, his grief, etc.

Minato is the embodiment of peak shinobi to me. He didnt come from a big well known clan (as far as we know), Chakra control & formation was class, and skill & battle tactic was astronomical. Mans took a jutsu from one of his Kage predecessors & vastly improved it, then proceeded to create his own jutsu inspired by the tailed beasts that could rival a tailed beast itself. Only thing he's trash at is actually naming certain jutsu's. Other than that dude just came from nowhere and proved he was that once in a generation talent & a rare breed.
Minato could be Tsunade and Dan or possibly Jiraiya hidden son... It would explain why Naruto is so OP.

But with how natural gifted Minato was it wouldn't be a stretch for him to be a descendant of Hashirama.

I think he’s extremely overrated. I like Ninja like Kakashi & Hiruzen who are multifaceted. If you took Minato’s signature move away from him he’d be a default shinobi. Where as if you took Kakashi & Hiruzen’s signature moves away from them they’d still have a threatening array of techniques.

That being said I will say the way that they gave Minato all those power ups are bs. KCM? Bull. Sage mode despite never using it in his lifetime? Bull yet somewhat believable due to his relationship with Jiraiya. I just wished they would’ve explained how Minato even got FTG.
That feat with him sealing the nine tails in Naruto is so underrated
In that split second he rewrote a trigram seal, split the 9 tails seal half in him and the other in Naruto. Then seal himself and kushinas consciousness in Naruto’s seal n did a reaper death seal on top of it…. This has to be the greatest sealing feat in the series…

has anyone else ever even split a seal like that? let alone combined three seals rapidly, to such a genius effect! logically it's kinda brilliant too, like actual good writing for a shonen show that works within the logic of the universe. seals half of it in naruto to make sure he isnt consumed before he knows how to deal with it since it's the strongest tailed beast and also famously one of the least cooperative for a jinchuriki, seals the other half in himself to carry over to the consciousness seal for himself and his wife so naruto can one day get their help when it's time to confront it within him(even just foreseeing this alone in the heat of the moment is insane), and uses the god damn REAPER DEATH SEAL as a method of delivery to MAKE SURE all of this goes through, knowing their conscioussnesses are at least safe to begin with from the first two seals. he's like the ultimate D&D player with this level of rules lawyering. he even layered the damn thing like a house made of sacrificial love. fuckin art man
Just read the one-shot manga and man, Kishimoto's art is so good. It was a nice trip down memory lane reading some new Naruto. Seeing Minato's intelligence was also cool. We finally get to see more of his genius level intellect displayed. That opening page felt like a flashback to the prime Naruto days of a decade ago. It was a great one shot and a treat to read.

With the new one shot Manga information out I don't think obito had a chance Minato just had a baby and had to protect kushina and naruto and release the 9 tails all in a few movies and recognize how Obito kamui work instantly that's literally obits only hack and if it's useless he would not have lasted which he didn't 1 rasengan sent him running
So as comparison: Body Flicker is like what all Dragon Ball characters use to "teleport" short distances and Flying Raijin is like Instant Transmission
body flicker is more like a burst of speed, dbz characters just use raw speed to move distances

For the hashirama statement, I think kurama is referring to the fact that minato is able to suppress his power while not being an uzumaki or using wood release which is a biju suppressant. So minato’s skill level is that impressive and the only comparison to him is hashi

regardless, this puts minato in an even higher tier than we previously thought of. So those battles against yellow mask obito and raikage were actually a stomp.

Man, I wouldn't mind a Minato mini-series. Maybe a tankobon or two of his missions and a little more depth into his character and his era. That would be cool.

I think Minato's main strength is his heavy reliance on pragmatism. His main skillset is his speed, skill and his kunai. Keep in mind that most of his techniques doesn’t require hand signs which means he not only minimizes his periods of vulnerability, but he can instantly punish those who rely on jutsus with handsigns all the while keeping at least one hand free. What he lacks in firepower and flashy techniques, he more than makes up for with full effective use of simple techniques. And the fact that one techniques relies on a mark that stays with you forever means that once he's tagged you, so long as he's still breathing, you're basically screwed.

True Several Thousand Hands will be useless if Minato already, and most likely, tags Hashirama with FTG, so he could just teleport straight to Hashirama.

He's like a hard counter to all non-six path characters
The coolest thing I like about Minato's fighting style is that it's all single-target based. He has basically no huge-AOE jutsu like so many other characters. He solos out one target at a time and hit them with as much power as he can, usually hand to hand with Rasengan.
He’s is on a power level Itachi fans think Itachi would be at if he was healthy. Also if not already mentioned in the video him and Itachi I think had the highest scores at the academy in history I think

@@gameuniverse5973 A much older Obito literally said that Itachi while NO LONGER ALIVE could’ve killed him with two Amaterasu which had him screaming in pain if he “knew about his secret” (definitely Izanagi considering that Obito couldn’t Kamui away Torune’s bugs). Stronger is one thing, but can we please just be objective and not act like Itachi is nowhere near Minato’s level. The only time we see him actually try when not near death he blitzes and seals away full power Nagato that had just absorbed a ton of Bee’s chakra.
I think Hiruzen's fear of Minato over Hashirama just comes from a time when the intended power scaling of the Hokage was different. Early-mid Naruto had a theme of "generational growth", with each new generation growing stronger by using and improving upon knowledge/techniques of the old. It would have made sense for Minato, the then most recent Hokage whose life had unfortunately been cut short, to be the strongest and most feared.
Unfortunately it ended up growing a bit messy with Madara being a BIG deal, which meant Hashirama needed to be a BIG deal. And then it spiraled.
I want you to think about this. Would you rather fight 2 Hokage and your student that you know you can handle or have a 3rd hokage join that will make it much harder or impossible?
Scaling is consistent. What made Minato more of a problem was his speed.

This understates, that even if Hiruzen could fight minato, how disruptive minato would be in a fight like that. So much of Hiruzen vs Orochimaru is static planning. And with someone as quick as minato on the field to deal with, Hiruzen would have had an Aneuryism trying to strategise against Orochimaru while dealing with a teleporting god. Be the equivalent of putting a bee by shikamarus ear while he's trying to figure out how to win the 4th ninja war.

Minato's nickname has to come from his bodyflicker because flying raijin has no effects it's instant so saying he's a yellow flash because you see his hair doesn't make sense because he would be too fast for normal soliders to see but if he is using bodyflicker you would see his colors and his yellow hair is the most distinct thing about his color scheme because he was wearing a jonin outfit so yellow was the best color for people to recognize him

I think another point to consider when minato clashed his rasengan with kurama, it's that kurama was still building up the biju bomb so it can't be said for sure that it's at full power, but nevertheless Minato is a goat.
That or it could be that he was doing the version that he shoots but keeps in front of his mouth. So it could still be fully charged but instead of shooting it he kept it near his mouth

Dude kurama clearly intended to blow them away with it, the rasengan atleast did something since if it didnt, kurama would have taken over kushina, since even with her chains on him, he was still able to pull out a bijuu bomb, and even if you say ninetsils was weaken by the chains, kushina is only 15 shes not as strong as she was in the future, and would have died if minato did not do anything, so minato while holding him on the outside, battle him on the inside and is compared to hashirama

The minato manga chapter was so well written, wow! So impressed and had a smile on my face the whole time. Super heart warming seeing how many lines it connected with the lore of naruto
I think Minato's issue with Sage Mode is a combination of it not meshing well with his fighting style (which is all about maneuverability and Sage Mode requires even masters to hold still for a few seconds) and his habit of being too humble about his abilities (which plays into his tendency to hype up other shinobi that he could most certainly slaughter in seconds like the Sannin who in their base forms are around the level of sick Itachi if we go by databook 3's statistics).

I said third databook stats (which covers up to the end of the Battle Between Brothers arc aka sick Itachi) which says that both Itachi and Jiraiya have a stat total of 35.5/40 while Tsunade and Orochimaru have totals of 35/40. From a purely statistical standpoint, at the time of Itachi's fight with Sasuke, he was in the same tier as the base forms of the Sannin.

As a Minato fanboy, I enjoyed the one-shot a lot, and I’m seriously glad he won the poll. I do feel that it was essentially a way of Kishimoto retconning his retcon of *NOT* making the Fourth Hokage the strongest to have ever lived. Of course, he still isn’t the strongest, but I’d say this one-shot was Kishimoto’s way of saying “hey I nerfed this guy on purpose during the war but don’t get it twisted he’s HIM”. Just to remind the masses that he’s still top 3 non-SOSP characters (imo). Still would’ve preferred if they didn’t nerf him into the ground, but the one-shot made me happy!

As far as that Viz Translation, context is also important. You sort of gloss over how he mentioned the Uzumaki Clan. Sure, Kurama mentions how Minato isn't even an Uzumaki, yet he's augmenting the tetragram seal in his own style. And then he calls Minato a most powerful shinobi, ranking alongside first hokage Hashirama, and says "unbelievable..." It's in that line, in the word unbelievable, that I think it's the most important clarification for what Kurama means. It might not necessarily mean "Minato is on par with Hashirama, they should totally do a 1v1 for the fans to argue over" he means "I am Kurama, the Nine Tailed Fox Demon, no mere human, shinobi or otherwise fazes me. THIS shinobi has done something so incredible and unexpected, that he has even surprised and impressed me, the only other shinobi I have ever encountered to commit such an act was first hokage Hashirama." Like, he considers Minato comparable to Hashirama BECAUSE Minato did something KURAMA HIMSELF described as "unbelievable". So I don't necessarily believe Teen Minato was like, as strong as the Hashirama Kurama remembers and references, but it's more along the lines of what you said, that they are cut from the same cloth, incredible shinobi that stand out among their peers, so powerful that they must receive acknowledgement from the greatest tailed beast.
If you have fought yourself you know that difference in speed is mostly based on reaction time, the time you take to actually move is the least important part. So thats probably what he excels at
You cant compare real life martial arts combat to an animes combat where the hand to hand style is opening limiters, veins popping spewing out blood, kicking so fast that there are hundreds of afterimages and litteraly imputting enough jewls of force to cut a mountian in half. The same principales dont exist.
Kurama s statement could also imply that minato has similar talent to that of hashirama but because he can’t use wood style nor use a perfect susanno nor dose he have kcm pre death he can’t fully attain nor surpass hashirama’s nor madaras level of power
talent is the best interpretation of that imo bec its the same moment kurama references him augmenting the uzumaki seal. uzumaki were well known for there sealing jutsu.
so it probably reads something like "wow, a kid is augmenting an uzumaki seal? this kid is as talented as hashirama if hes doing stuff like that."
That’s my thoughts cause he clearly states “despite not being an Uzumaki” which means it’s probably a near impossible feat for anyone not an Uzumaki.
So much 🧢🧢🧢 no it means at 12-16 yrs old minato is comparable to the 1st. Rather its charaka levels or pure power a non prime Minato was compared to the 1st.
I assume he means not just talent, but potential. And he didn't even see Flying Raijin. Calling Minato to have the potential of Hashirama without even seeing his most busted move.

My interpretation, and honestly the only one that I think makes sense for Minato's Sage Mode is that Jiraiya has the body for it but not the skill, which is why he can maintain it imperfectly, while Minato has the skill but not the body, which is why his form is perfect but lasts for like actually 5 seconds, which would explain why he has a Perfect form that he himself states he has never used in combat.
This interpretation is incorrect, if Minato didnt have a body that could tolerate Sage mode. And yea definitely more skilled than Jiraiya at Sage mode since he can enter it without help which Jiraiya cannot. But the point is that building chakra to summoning two toads and then having them fuse with him to hold Sage mode is just not something that is useful to Minato.

I thought the difference between Minato and Tobirama in Flying Rajin was the amount of seals he can have as well as how fast he can activate it (without handsigns, while lesser users need handsigns, and others even need multiple people in a ritual and a long string of handsigns).

No stupid cheat abilities (other than maybe Sage Mode). Just "regular" techniques, that theoretically anyone can learn, and he's just so damn strong. I always defended him when it came to discussions about whether or not he is on-par with Hashirama and I'm glad the new manga gives him the edge. He deserves it and the series needs a top tier fighter that doesn't just rely on cheats. His fighting scenes were by far the coolest because of all that and he's therefore my favourite character.

He’s not on par with hashirama and that’s okay he’s my favorite character too. He’s like the next legend in the series. The 1st hokage and Madara are the greatest of all time and they were earlier, while minato is known as the greatest ninja ever since the start of villages.

Regarding Minato being of Hashiramas caliber is hard to believe, but it makes some sense. His trump card, flying thunder god literally requires multiple trained shinobi to use to teleport the kage to the battlefield. Here we have minato passing it around like candy, so his chakra levels have to be pretty insane.

Minato literally speed cliffs almost every ninja before sixth paths characters, and that alone puts him in a league of his own. Add the intelligence, immense chakra levels, sealing Jutsu and strong will, and Kurama is right.

Dude has insane chakra, 3 chakra natures, and mastered the flying rigin and even is able to teleport a whole biju bomb. He created the rasangon, mastered Sage mode witch gives him extra strength, speed, durability, and senses. He can also use his nature chakra to upgrade his jutsu. He can also summon the toads and the reaper death seal and he knows multiple uzumaki seals. He evens has the nine tails that gives him access to kcm1, and kcm2.
My personal theory is hiruzen was scared of edo minato because he knew minato is the only person there who could've left the barrier without breaking it with all the ftg seals he has around the village. He could've just left on orochimaru's order and wreak havoc on the village. Hiruzen couldn’t have done anything because he would've been trapped in the barrier.
And before anybody mentions it. I don’t think tobirama had his seal spread around like minato did. Because if he did he could've just teleported his team to safety instead of sacrificing himself to let them escape.

@@Kryptic496 It's Schrodinger's Minato; he simultaneously was, and was not, in the coffin. On one hand, Minato was obviously SUPPOSED to be in the coffin, because, who the hell else would it be? On the other hand, he couldn't have been in there, because of what you just said. Honestly, it's probably best for all of us that the coffin never opened.
That being said, Orochimaru really used that ability in the dumbest way possible. Like, he really didn't need to wait until he got all the way to Konoha to summon them; there's no on-going cost to using Edo Tensei, and there's no range limit on the user's ability to control them. And he super didn't need to summon the 3rd one in front of the other two, he could have summoned them all in a row, and it would be much harder to stop.

I like to think that when Tobirama said his Shadow clone's flying raijin is too slow, he's referring to how the clone would take too long to initiate the jutsu. I think Swag is right in saying there shouldn't be varying degrees of speed when it comes to teleportation so, I imagine that Tobirama is talking about how using the jutsu will take too long to complete.
Tbf Teleportation does have Different Levels in Fiction for Example Chaos Control From Sonic is Irrelevant Speed since it's beyond the Concepts of Time and Space instead of just infinite Speed so I think it's Fair to say Minato FTG Being Faster could be Plausible

Minato's feat of cancelling out the 9 tail's bijuu bomb makes Obito's durability look even more insane. He got slammed directly with Minato's rasengan when he was significantly stronger and Obito survived. On top of all of the crazy shit Obito survived in the war, he's an absolute tank.
Most importantly don’t ever forget the fact that Hashirama is composed of 100% of Hashirama cells !

I just figured that what he meant is while he can use perfect Sage mode he just can’t use it for prolonged amount of time and only in bursts. It’s wild to think he did all that training with the toads and semi mastered Sage mode but realized it wouldn’t help his overall fighting style so he just gave up on training it more to last longer
Naruto already had the formula on him from when he was a newborn. That’s how Minato was able to get to the battlefield so fast right where his son was, I believe.

The way I saw it was Minato’s potential was on par with Hashi’s and when he became hokage he lived up to it. Feats show it, statements show it, Kishi still retains that belief long after the story is over as shown in this. Minato is just him. The prodigal son. Hashirama’s near or complete equal. At the very least, it’s safe to say now Minato is the second most powerful hokage by a large margin and is at the top echelon of non-sage power people, on the level of living Madara & Hashi.

The scene in the war arc where the hokages came to battlefield. Minato actually got there first, teleported a bijuu bomb from the ten tails and even chatted with Naruto and Sakura before the other hokage got there.
Also hiruzen got there before tobirama then hashirama. So i think tobirama's teleportation skill made him the fastest in his time and not his body flickering technique.😅

I’ve always personally thought the main reason hiruzen didn’t want any conflict with Minato is that his kit and specific skillset just really hard counters hiruzen at this stage of his life. Hiruzen at this age struggles with making more clones, which divides his AP even further. That extra clone could be devastating. Also, minato if he tags him kinda just ends the fight with his lack of durability and speed disadvantage. Orochimaru clearly made them a lot more brain dead so they would even fight hiruzen, but the downside of this is it makes him way harder to use tobiramas advance raijin kit. It’s a weaker version then minatos and it’s just easier to spam aoe attacks that force hiruzen to waste chakra. Minato though since his base speed is higher and his kit is just an easier flying raijin into rasengan and that’s a real wincon vs hiruzen at this age is simpler to execute.
it's more than at that point the concept of naruto was that each new generation surpass the precedent, 4th was thought to be the strongest Hokage ever, and 3rd was stronger than 2nd or 1st (that's why his "supreme technique" was growing trees). It was how was written the manga originally but then things changed because the power scaling went numb and because Madara was the final antagonist so Hashirama had to be a big deal.

People forget that in order to seal someone’s soul/chakra through the reaper death seal you need to at least equal the amount of chakra of the being you’re trying to seal. That means hokage Minato in cannon had the same amount of chakra as half of kurama AND THATS AFTER defeating obito, teleporting a full powered kurama biju bomb AND spamming flying rajin all night . The dude was a fucking monster

whats crazy about the Hiruzen part is that I believe in that chapter, both Hashirama and Tobirama were actually at their peak and was alluded that Hiruzen was stronger than both of them and then Minato was stronger than Hiruzen. Then I believe that was reconned to where the revived Hashirama and Tobirama were at half their peak during the anime. I would've been pretty cool if Hiruzen was that strong, but then again Hashirama cell is a great meme
so, an interesting detail i'd like to point out is that his Flying Raijin Seal only broke *AFTER* Obito absorbed the Ten Tails. which implies, to me at least; that it takes an at least Ten Tails level being to fully break one of his seals. which means, heh, that his Sealing Jutsu is not merely Hashirama level. oh no. it's SIX PATHS level. 🤯🤯
combine that with everything else about this guy. his speed, his power, his Jutsu, his intelligence, his attractiveness. and yeah. i can completely understand why Kurama compared him to Hashirama directly.

Swag, if you rememberz the statement about him being in the same calibre, I think he means potential, because minato, even as a hokage, he wasn't at his peak. He was still pretty young, if I remember correctly, he's barely even 30 years old when he died. So he could've grown even stronger because hashirama reached his peak looking at the timeline, seems like in his 30's to 40's like madara

Minato is no joke! Just by looking at his skills and potential would tell you that if he had lived longer he would have been the next evolution in shinobi. His intelligence is so superb enabling him to understand and learn about anything in the blink of an eye. This also gives him the ability to create new powers. So, just imagine the god he would have became with the ability to exponentially create new powers and compounding them.
You're overhyping him a bit. Kakashi directly stated Minato based his rasengan off of Kurama's TBB, and was unable to add elemental release to it. That was why he failed as well, and why Naruto was the only one capable of doing so. If anything, Minato would have just created bigger variants of Rasengans and that's it.
