there are actually a few stratagems with hard caps on how many times you can use them per mission, such as the patriot exosuit and the orbital laser stratagems, with the mech being 2 maximum uses per player per mission, and the orbital laser having 3 maximum uses per player per mission. this is to keep players from just chucking an orbital laser at every single objective they find, especially in automaton worlds. that said if every player in the team dives in with an orbital laser stratagem each this means that they have 12 total uses of stratagems in total (3 each), same with the mech if everyone dives with it then they have 8 total uses.
also the only "pay to win" element this game has is the deluxe edition (which can also be purchased separately of the base game) that adds a fancy armor with identical stats as two different armor sets in the free battlepass, a "super citizen" title, and the stratagem hero arcade game becomes available to use for yourself and anyone on your ship. and honestly i'd spend money just to get that minigame, its worth it and the devs deserve it.

Fun helldivers fact: the tutorial is canonically the entire training regimen the helldivers retrieve.
Since respawns are canonically reinforcement by different guys, that means some helldivers come out of training as Rambo

The reason a lot of other Live Service games feel so lackluster and shallow is because their games that have the entire Live Service aspect feel tacked on with a bunch of aspects that constantly remind you that it's a storefront with a game attached.
Helldivers 2 leans in to the Service aspect by disguising events and announcements as incoming orders from high command. There's no "as a community, get X amount of kills". It's always "Super Earth needs YOU to kill X amount of enemies in the name of Managed Democracy".
*AND IT ALSO DOESN'T SHOVE ITS ITEM STORE INTO YOUR FACE EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU LAUNCH THE FUCKING GAME, THAT CANNOT BE UNDERSTATED ENOUGH HOW REFRESHING IT FEELS TO NOT BE CONSTANTLY ADVERTISED TO*
This is key, Helldivers making the live service systems diegetic within the games setting is absolutely crucial

And the devs did all this on an engine that was abandoned in 2018. The game was in development for so long that in 2018 Autodesk stopped supporting the Stingray engine (which was the old Bitsquid engine). Ridiculous how hard these devs worked on this game and how hard they are still working on it.

As someone who exclusively plays helldive difficulty the creek is not even the worst because it actually has some decent cover some of those other worlds are like playing on a dinner plate and the rocket devastators can see me from like 75-100m

My best moment so far was my second level 8 mission, a bot sabotage mission when I was new to the game. The last objective was to sabotage the dropships and I was the last one left, getting chased by a massive horde of walkers and rocket devastators. I managed to get close enough I just threw a 380 and by democracy it had actually got the objective done. It was tooth and nail getting to the evac where I had innumerable close calls with rockets that would one tap me. I managed to get to the ship call zone with the samples we could retrieve and by then I was able to call in another person but they immediately died upon contact with a rocket devastator so it was back to me in a final stand to evac and I had managed to but BARELY.
11:26 don’t forget the concept is also similar to galactic deep rock except less mining and more shooting.
The concept is the same as helldivers 1 wich came out years before DRG

Fun thing to do with few friends is to run a helldive difficulty eradicate mission with everyone running 380 & 120 barrages, walking barrage and one other high yield device resulting in the objective becoming less kill the enemy and more of a game of artillery dodgeball

The only reason why I am held back from buying Helldivers 2 is due to my pc specs not being good enough.

Not sure what you have but I've been running it just fine on moderate graphics settings with a nividia 1080 gtx and i7 core processor.
You might still be able to run it, the lowest settings are a bit rough but it's playable
I've heard that the game runs surprisingly well on even absolute potato PCs, perhaps helped by it leaning more on your CPU than GPU especially on low settings.
Well, it really doesn't take much to run, but even if your PC is good enough, it might not run at all

I hear the first minute and thirty seconds talking about how nice it is to play a game with no moral ambiguity, and I giggle like that one meme frog. Suffice to say, the deeper lore says otherwise. The Starship Troopers influence is stronger than most realize.
Never thought id find a game to match Deep Rock Galactic, so glad Helldivers 2 does. Both games are just co-op awesomeness, fun as hell. Just wish the weapons had more viability, which im sure will happen.
Yup. I'm the type of guy who uses off-meta, not to prove a point or anything, but just because I usually like off-meta weapons more, whether it be sound design or the type of weapon. I swear, Arrowhead specifically designed off-meta weapons/stratagems to be as terrible as possible.

I only wish that were true. In my experience, Impossible is occupied almost entirely by flamers, people running Arc Throwers (and chain-killing their teammates) and people who manage to go around the entire map completing everything BUT the Main Objective, running out of Reinforcements, and failing the mission because they just HAVE to clear all of the Nests first, wven if they collected all of the Purple Samples already.
Not to mention Purple Samples being locked to Difficulty 7+ means you have to grind extremely hard to get some of the utilities like being able to steer your pod correctly (sometimes the game just steers me into a pit or a teammate and I can do almost nothing to stop the forced guidance system)
Hell, some basic utilities are completely locked out (Why is it my corpse cannot drop ammo, stims, or grenades? I didn't change my gun, so I should be able to get ammo from my fully supplied corpse. Also, why is Hellpod Space Optimization a Boost instead of the Default Setting)
I got the Super Citizen Pack upgrade when I first bought the game, and I've twice paid for Super Credits. Reason? Well... the Upgrade pack purchase at the start was because of the fun I could see others having on YT vids... It was enough for me to pay out the extra at the start. After getting to lvl 5 or so, well, game had me hooked and I wanted to get some extra scratch as well as give the devs some more money to work with. This game rocks, and I'm happy as a pig in mud to PAY someone for a job well done.
What a spectacular discovery, when someone makes a good game that someone genuinely loves to play, there is actually no need to ensentivise (and / or force) them to spend money. They will do it of their own fruition, because they feel like the devs earned it.
With how disposable the Helldivers are, I wonder what Super Earth special forces would look like (or if they even exist since Helldivers kind of fill that role too).

I laughed so fucking hard in the tutorial when you literally step into a SpaceX rocket chock full of pods containing helldivers as if they were waiting just for you before all simultaneously blasting off to Malevolon Creek

My favorite part is how insanely COOL everything about this game is! Looking down at the planet from orbit, shooting through the atmosphere in a pod, calling in airstrikes and blowing everything up, its just so friggin awesome!
I don’t know, some effects like the ground on fire is very cheap looking (most games don’t know how to make pretty fire effects still in 2024 😂) and the explosions like the 500 Kg or Hellbomb… No volumetric particles or anything, it looks really bad actually. And that can make the game crash by the way. On a technical level, so many things could be improved about this game.
Fun fact: If you use the Hug emote with the shield pack; they are protected by your shield pack. Something to combo with danger close 500kg bombs.
this game really gave me some hope that MAYBE some publishers try good, risky games instead of unfinished live service cash grabs

I’ve never played shooters before but this game looked through gameplay to be amazing. And i picked it up about a week after release, over 30 hrs in I don’t see myself putting it down any time soon. The only reason I don’t have more hours is because I had to take my computer in to get fixed, it was damn automaton counter attack

6:17 definately a good design choice. I intuitively refused to use Eagle strikes when I read "uses: 2/4/5" until I realised once empty, the bomber goes to reload and is back within a minute or two
Well, Orbital Laser is only three uses maximum and Patriot Exosuit only two, it’s still very much worth it.
One of my favorite moments was with the laser cannon, which is my favorite. I saw a spore spewer in the distance, and on a whim, tried to shoot it. And it blew up. Absolutely hilarious

I've been documenting each of my Helldivers (Plural) individual missions & it's my favorite part of the game to write, "May they rest in liberty." I highly recommend doing it yourself.
Helldivers 2 is the essence of;
An ordnance technician at a dead run outranks everybody,
Close air support and friendly fire should be easier to tell apart, and
Infantry exists to paint targets for people with real guns.
The funny thing about that opening line is that absolutely everybody I know who games has this game
There was a really good armor set in the premium shop I wanted. I bought the armor with the premium currency u had banked, earned some with the battle pass and made up the difference in line 2 missions. I've gotten three equivalent of like 30 bucks of premium currency since launch without having to spend a dime beyond the price of the game. The fact that i don't feel pressure to getv premium currency makes me want to get it more.

Helldivers 2 doesn't really ever ask me to buy anything, so of course I bought the Super Citizen version to support Super Earth and to further the war effort
I’m very glad laser sights are on all standard primary weapons. It allows players to avoid running infront of their teammates who might be firing in their direction.
Its honestly just refreshing to see a good game that doesn't get bad press at all. It launched great and stays great (who could expect so many players to charge to Super Earths defense)
I completely passed on this game when i saw it on steam this weekend. Now im gonna get it
Other than the initial cost of purchase I didn't spend a single dollar in the store and I've bought almost everything in it twice with premium currency earned just by playing. I paid extra for super citizen pack on purchase so I got the premium pass with it.

Even with a 3gb graphics card I mostly get a steady 30-48 fps (forced limited fps) and the servers match making mostly works. Only real issue I have is cross play friend requests is still being worked on as we speak

My main complaint about Helldivers is that I can't play Balatro on the ship waiting for my friends.
