    Thanks very much for the demo - very helpful. You have the "stratiest" sounding strat I have ever heard. I am a Les Paul man myself, but your guitar sounds absolutely gorgeous.

    Great review man. This is a five-star, insane pedal. I agree it is almost impossible to get a bad sound from it. Since I bought it last year, I have stopped shopping for OD's. I couldn't be happier with it. Fulltone hit one out of the park with the PSoul. Outstanding overdrive tones!

    Thank you! This is the first demo where someone plays through a non-clean amp. I use a tweed deluxe and it is really hard to find a pedal that works when it is driving a bit. I will have to check out the Plimsoul.

    What a nice demo! I want to play a Plimsoul now. I like that it doesn't completely destroy the chime and sparkle of the single coils like most ODs.

    The Plimsoul is an awesome pedal! I've had mine for about 4 years now and wouldn't sell or trade it for anything.

    I can't even remember when I actually enjoyed the blah blah along a video demo. But I really did enjoy this. And fantastic sound quality, too. Thanks a lot!

    So sustain knob is soft clipping diodes in the feedback loop around an opamp like a tubescreamer. The stage two is hard clipping diodes in front of an opamp like a DS-1 with potentiometer allowing signal to get clipped hard or remove diodes from circuit. Sort of like pushing a DS-1 with a tubescreamer

    @samantonio In this video I'm using my Don Grosh Retro Classic, which, because of it's Swamp Ash body and brazilian rosewood fretboard has a very articulate tone, much more so than an alder strat. The pickups are Lindy Fralin Blues Specials.

    There's a mic on the amp, but I'm also wearing a lapel mic, and it's very possible that you're hearing some phasing between them.

    I just bought one because of your review, Anthony, and I'm really happy with it.
    It really adds to my tone, and it makes my practicing much more fun.
    Thanks

    One thing I didn’t see you do here & these turn the level right up.
    Right up & mess with the other dials.
    Anyway thanks for the insight man.
    I will definitely be putting one of these on my board.

    For best sounds, roll that hi cut back to about 11 to 12 noon or 1pm, particularly with more sustain/distortion added. Otherwise, like Anthony is using it you cut your head off (literally lol).

    great review!!!! I use this plimsoul pedal all the time on stage...best of the fulltone line imo...although i never liked their products ,this one sounds like a "pushed amp" ...very amp like feel & sound..your review says it all...thanx BB

  • @Texasbluesalley
    @Texasbluesalley  Před 13 lety

    @pbcollins85 Since both of those pedals are primarily distortion pedals, I wouldn't necessarily suggest using either as primarily a boost. They will give you two different flavors of distortion, but I don't know how well they would mix. Either one could be pushed by an EQ pedal though.

  • @cheycasters

    I love my Plimsoul. It does just about everything I need it to do especially pushing it with a Creation Audio Labs HOLY FIRE pedal. I have an original 48 V version and It IS THE BEST bass pedal on top of things as well. I had a KLON and it sucked alone but kicked booty pushing a Fulltone FD-2 CS. The HOLY FIRE blows that thing away..........just my .02 worth

    Depends on how useful the dual channel of the T-Rex would be for your sound. Overall, the Plimsoul has a more dynamic sound and variety. The T-Rex still packs a punch, though. It's more a pick of personal preference. With a classic rock sound, you can't really go wrong with either.
    It might be worth checking out the Mad Professor Mighty Red for the hard rock.

  • @Texasbluesalley
    @Texasbluesalley  Před 13 lety

    @lstierney I usually keep the "Sustain" knob around 9:00, with a tad bit of Stage 1 mixed in. The only time I'd ever push it all the way is if I'm playing some Hendrix :-)

    @samantonio I agree with the word -"Transparency".
    That's what I feel everytime I listen to his clip.
    I have checked all his videos..
    It doesn't matter what amp(Fender BJ, SamAmp, Nolatone), what guitar, what pick up he uses, with or without any reverb, with or without any overdrive..
    The transparency is everywhere on his recording work..
    I like the way he interpret or teach SRV style blues but I prefer his sound.
    He has good ears and knows how to use them.

    @Stratomacaster Před 13 lety

    This is the only FullTone pedal I ever sent back (and I have everything Mike ever made with the exception of the TTE). Not that it's bad. It actually has a pretty good overall tone, but I could duplicate every tone with a combination of the Catalyst and SoulBender. So .. basically, I just didn't need to take up another space on the board with it.
    I'd still recommend it.

    Very nice, l have the plimsoul also, however l find it sounds dull,and lacking high end. Except when lcrank the volume to 11 -12 o clock. I run the gain and tone the same as you. I'm running my plimsoul at 9 volts. But going to my clean tone has a huge volume drop. Fender Tele, and fender deluxe reverb.

    @tcinpa37 Oh, nothing between the lines implied. Just curious how well you knew this pedal. I think it was designed to emulate dimed EL34s for that Jeff Beck tone (hence the name), so in a way it's an off-beat OD pedal that can be tricky to implement with something else in mind.

    That's a lot of distortion Anthony - do you actually play live like that?
    I would have thought that you would be driving your power tubes (on amp) for a more over driven sound (when live) or the preamp (when practicing).......

    what kind of pickups are in that strat? Your tone is so transparent- I know a lot of that comes from what overdrive/gain the signal is going through, but even with texas specials I have a hard time pushing that neck-middle tone through gain pedals without it losing that distinctive sound- usually the neck pickup does a good job of staying strong through any "tone-sucking" (i.e. a LOT of OD pedals out there), but the neck-middle position ends up losing it's texture. make sense at all?
