- Robert Culp plays Bracken, whose life seems perfect until his wife Ellen and their children are kidnapped by terrorists one day. After failed attempts to capture them back by the police, Ellen's ex husband enters the fray and plans his own rescue attempt. James Coburn plays McCabe, Ellen's ex-husband who hires a crew of professional hang gliders to help him rescue her and the kids from the terrorist's mountain top lair.
I saw this with my dad (RIP), at the Ashton- Under-Lyne Odeon, having seen it previewed by Dickie Davies in his "Sport in the Movies" segment on "World of Sport" (one for the Brits!) and I've loved it ever since. My favourite film throughout my childhood years, it cheers my heart to see so many comments here, as no one I know has ever seen it. Also, it has to be said - great soundtrack.
a great film from the 70s much underrated
Thank you for uploading.......you took me back to my childhood. Beautiful memories of the 70's.....watching this movie together with Uncle Eddie and Aunt Doris. God, I miss those days.
One of the best and most underrated james coburn movie great aerial cinematography with a message what a father won't do to rescue his son even if is sound crazy theydon't make it like this any more everything is cgi
Coburn was a great actor & helped make this action film enjoyable, along with great hang- gliding scenes.
I'm r.c
For years I could not remember the name of this movie. I remembered the main actor but I could not remember his name. When I was 13 in 1977 I saw this movie at an old theatre in Inglewood California with my family. I just happened to get an old movie in my CZcams feed today called "Our Man Flint" staring James Coburn. After all these years, I found it
I am 50 now n i saw this movie only once when i was kid of about 6 of 7.... thanku for uploading
In first grade 1979 I broke my femur and spent a month in the hospital. I watched this movie and Greek Orthodox icon scared the heck out of me for some reason. Lol
Bullshit! There's no reason for one to be scared of Orthodox icons! Only fools, Catholics and Muslims (...and there not all of them ! At least the middle Easterns, are much closer to Greece culturally and sentimentally, than you, Catholic f...*:'"#@...ckheads!) feel this way!
Gracias por la oportunidad de ver y disfrutar la película favorita de mi familia, nuevamente. ----
The movie is just good; but I have been taken by the wonderful Greek shores and beaches but these small castles and houses are blowing my mind. Such a great civilization.
I saw this movie as a double bill on release in the UK with Avalanche Express, which was the main feature. We didn't even know it was a double bill and thought the film was probably one of those shorts that got played from time to time. Much to our surprise it was excellent and as good, if not better than the film we actually came to see.
I remember seeing this movie at a theatre in Montreal and in its French version called Operation Delta. Very impressed by this exciting movie where James Coburn came back with another action one. This was done in Greece and I love Charles Aznavour's rendition of the police chief. Nice to see an action movie in Greece.
wasnt the same monastery used in a bond film
@@douglastaylor6160 Actually, this west part of Greece, not far from Albania, is called the Meteore hills and you can find several monasteries like this one sitting at the top of those. The JB one is a different one but from the same group.
saw this when i was 9 years old. mom was still with us. miss this
My Dad got into hang gliders and took me to see this film. Thanks Dad!
One of the first movies I have any memory of seeing in the theater. I've wanted to see a decent version forever. Thanks a million for posting.
me too,i'm from China
Le sourire de James Coburn ! Many thanks
Excellent movie.
No "CGI" (magnificent).
When stuntmen/women were real.
Well worth watching.
Perfect audio and video.
Thanks for the upload.
It's fun to watch and I agree about the stunts but the plot and acting are sub par to say the least.
Saw it when I was a small kid, one hell of an amazing movie. !!!!! Don't see anything even close today, just graphics....
Charles Coburn. AGREAT actor..and an excellent Movie.Thank you very much,
James Coburn
Coburn rules. Loved him as Steiner in "The Iron Cross"
We had it as VHS when when young, was playing it constantly. Brings back lots of memories.
I still have it on VHS I'm sorry but I think old video tapes are better than the current DVD
The good old days of vhs cassetes n then came betamex ...
REALLY fantastic film. Sigh, the 70s! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS 15 YEARS OLD, EXCELENT, THANK FOR SHARING.
I love this movie, I seen it when first played at the theater. Thanks for having it here.
Thanks for the upload. It brings me back when I was about 8 yrs old, I remember watching this with my father (rip) and younger brother in a cinema. I'm 52 now.
Not a cuss word that I recall. Great glider work and filming. Also crazy gun action. Good old movie, and who doesn't like Chuck Colbun?!
Thanks for sharing this film , watched it as a kid in 1976 in the Gaumont cinema in Bristol. Should have been in school at the time , brought back good memories as I nicked the front of house stills , and I still have them .
You light fingered guttersnipe!
yes they would have been in colour too. if you sell them on ebay you could make a few £100s for the lot.
Amazing movie...they don't make movies like this anymore, thank you so much for the upload!!!
You guys were right! Great movie! Only movies I remember these guys in were war movies. Thanks!
I first saw this movie as a kid in 1976 on a flight from California to Germany. It made the boring flight worthwhile.
.
Beautiful Athens, one of my favourite cities, I had to watch this movie……. ❤
What a friggin stunt that is on the helicopter.
That’s really him, isn’t it?
Amazingly well done.
That was in the opening credits of The Fall Guy. Stumbled onto this movie in 2002 and saw that and said “That’s where that clip is from!”
Thanks for the upload. Saw it as a kid. Was mesmerized by the flying
I saw this in the cinema on its release, when I was 11. It was the last time I can remember seeing two full-length films on one bill (the other was 'Planet of the Apes', which I liked a lot more).
James Coburn great actor love all his movies ,thanks for the video upload
Culp is horrible but he is perfect for this. I love how the liberation army asks for 30 "grease guns." I didn't know they were called that in real. (those inexpensive 45 automatics that looked like automotive grease guns replaced the expensive tommyguns in the army. Really ugly cheap stamped steel guns but very fast to produce). Coburn is always great in these roles, like George Peppard in the A team, with the cigar and machine gun spraying out the side door of BA's van.
Wow, thank you what a movie. Culp and Coburn.
unforgetable ever green movie of COBURN
I saw this movie in 1977,and i did enjoy it very much. Thanks for the upload bro.
Oh yea- James Coburn baby- my hero 😘❤️
I remember sitting in a movie theater in Kentucky. In nineteen seventy six visiting my grandfather I was twelve years old. I came up to the movie theater washed it myself.
classic james coburn movie. i was first year high school when i saw this movie in 1976 in iligan city. salamat sa upload, it brought memories of times past when movies are great entertainment. salamat.
I remember this one as the featured movie during one of my plane trips with my mother to visit my grandparents in London, England.
I saw it on a plane too, somewhere between Hong Kong and London.
Never forgot it. Nice to see it again.
The "abandoned monastery" where the hostages are held is Meteora in Greece, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of six monasteries built in the 16th century. It is one of Greece's most popular tourist destinations. The same monastery was used in the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only filmed in 1981.
For Your Eyes Only used a different one in the same valley.
Took me forever to find this movie . I found it in a store in London and had to have it transformed to American Format. Surprised no one hasn't done a Remake of this .
Like many others here,I first saw this movie as a youth. The sky diving scenes blew me away, the gun battle had me on the edge of my seats.
Years later (much later) I had still remember the movie. With the invention of the internet..I searched for movies by James Coburn...only to discovered this was not released on DVD...nor VHS video tape.
Left the hunt for many....many..more years..until today some had link to a full length movie of a different genre. As I was in CZcams..I decided to try
James Coburn (1928 - 2002) specialised in tough guy roles throughout his career and by the late 1960s he cultivated a "cool" persona. His career was already declining when this movie was made and it was a flop in the USA. He appeared in more than 70 films, invariably action movies. He became an acknowledged star in 1966 with the movie Our Man Flint and In Like Flint in 1967 and both were very successful although he didn't want to make any more. In 1999, he surprisingly won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Affliction which barely recovered its production budget. He continued working until his death making two movies in 2002.
One of his memorable roles was in "The Magnificent Seven" - remember the knife throw scene?
@@stewartw.9151 Oh yes, I sure do!
Russell Grenning, I don't think it's accurate to say that his career was in decline at this point. He was still very marketable, and he was quoted as saying he was coming into the best part of his working life, a statement I doubt he would have bothered making, if it wasn't his true belief.
Consider this; the year before he had co-starred with Charles Bronson in the highly acclaimed Hard Times and the year after this, I'm not at all sure that he wouldn't be correct to say, that he was the lead, out of a fantastic cast, in Peckinpah's Cross of Iron.
What struck him done for about a decade soon afterwards, was the severe manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis, that made it impossible for him to work.
I would say that it might be easy to be fooled by his position after the Flint films (the second one not being nearly up to the standard of the first one), as they were more a case of a formulaic expression (Bond spoof films 4 or 5 years), than one of a showcase for all his talents as an actor.
The greatest movie ever made?
Oh my god!!!! You have no idea how many years I have been searching for this movie! Thank you so much!!!
De muchos muchos años volví a ver esta película.
Thanks suparokdog, One of the best films I have ever seen, good suspense, and couldn't ask for a better plot.
One of first movies I remember seeing as a kid..
I saw it at the drive-in theater with my mom when it came out..
All I ever remembered was the black gliders..
Thanks for posting, now I can watch it as an adult and make sense of it all, finally..
Thank you.
Such a great movie! And I'm sooooo happy that it takes place in Greece! Wish even more movies would take place there in this genre! :)
Just a great movie...👍👍👍
cool action movie ,great music by Lalo Schifrin !
OMG, those ancient primitive hang gliders! Today's hang gliders are flying distances of nearly 500 miles on a single flight, with altitudes of 20,000 feet!
Great movie! I've watched couple of times!
I was looking for this movie, but i couldn't remember the title...so i looked under 1970's hang gliding movies and found it. When i saw this years ago i really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing this movie.
I saw this in the theater when I was 12 years old. Still an entertaining little flick.
James Coburn,s heart must have been bitter when his rescued son rushed to not him but stepfather .
And if it had not been for the hang gliders ,she and her children would have all been executed by terrorists when the police attacked their shelter carelessly .
Mummy! That was fun! I want to do it again! The little girl says something like that...leave it to kids!!
I remember seeing this movie when I was 13 in Belgium. It was called "Commando Delta" then, I think..
I was in Korea. Title was ¨Seven Eagles¨in Korean. It reminds me
of my young age.
This is my first time seeing this movie 🍿🍿🍿
tommy hunt - Robert culp / james Coburn /Suzanne York cant go wrong with this line up great film
la he buscado por decadas,,excelente film en esos años algo inverosimil hoy parece insipida para muchos, bonitos recuerdos
I have been wanting to see this movie again for at least 22 years or more.
Best movie thank you for uploading
saw this in San Bernardino, Calif. when I was in the 5th grade. I went back again the next week, this time with my parents. I guess I really loved it.
Thanks for the upload! Been searching for this one for a long time. Not really a great movie - underwritten and rather too simplistic - but it's nice to finally catch it to satisfy my curiosity. Probably been looking out for it for the best part of twenty years!!!! THANK YOU!
Looking back at it now, it’s unrealistic that he’d recruit a bunch of circus performers to take on hardened terrorists.
Oh no, no, no, not watching a movie with endless aerial shots of glorious countryside!
Terrific James Coburn action flick!! Thought it might be one of those *IN LIKE FLINT* capers from the olden days. I was half right.
AWESOME MOVIE
Gotta love Coburn.
😎
Great movie..... Thank you for uploading. Seen this many, many, many years ago. Still, it is good to see a James Coburn movie.
Radiolocation was common even as far back as the 1940's.
Yes, it was a good movie from Greece. I also have some sweet friends, who live in Greece. Yes, they are very nice! ;-)
Poor Greece...
We could be helping them instead of bankrolling China to be our landlords with them using our own $$$$$$ to buy up all of North America's coastal real estate.
There's the impetus for WW3
@@kidmack1121 Now stop my fine friend. It is Greece itself that has cleaned up the bed for this .. ;-( That other countries are skilled. It has nothing to do with the matter. And to make dollars? They do not pay taxes, no time. And they are a few days too lazy .. To be able to do anything, anyhow .. Haha .. Yes because the Greek dollar is worth nothing Yes you can't boast about it And you can't be proud of it should be ashamed of it. So you can learn it. And accept that help. You have to it. To be grateful, for that help but to get. And to look into your eyes. For the mistake you made. then I can respect the country again .. ;-)
@@ralfvendingankernorsemenla18
I'm not able to follow with what you are both saying, and trying hard NOT to say.
I will respond to what I did understand;
I haven't met any "lazy" Greeks.
Absolutely the opposite as a matter of fact.
@@kidmack1121 No, you can be right. They didn't seem to be doing anything at all. Yes, it can't be lazy when they're not doing anything. Of course, that is clear
Great movie 70s 🎉
I am German Wife. See this film under the German title "Auf der Fährte des Adlers".
Don`t find it anywhere. Not DVD ore VHS. Thanks you sooo much for this orginal Version.
I`m very big Fan from James Coburn. I´m so sad when he die 2002!!!
I cannot understand why this was panned by the critics at the time!
Great movie.
haha. literally that same year my buddy and I in Rhode Island built our first hang glider.
James Coburn worked a lot with Sam peckinpah that he rest in peace I always wondered how would this movie if turned out if Sam peckinpah had been the director
Thanks for a good film.
Splendid story ❤
Best rescue mission ever staged! Wow! What fun !
Good movie worth a watch.
I watched this movie in VHS when I was 11 in Nepal.
They're wearing hockey masks! greatest line in cinema history.
(Continued) my luck. Low and behold ..the full film is on CZcams. I watched it immediately and immensely enjoyed it. To the uploader...Thank you very much for the gift. You have certainly made my day. Truly appreciate the movie
Pretty good movie, very entertaining, especially with this cast of actors ( women included )
Simon Harrison sure gets kidnapped a lot. First in The Wind and the Lion, and now this.
This looks like the same monastery in the Bond film 'For your eyes only" filmed released 1981. This film could of been the inspiration for the Bond film, just a guess. This is a very cool film with a daring escape plan.
Coburn was always cool. Thanks for the video.
he did drink a lot both during and after he was acting.
And smoked cigarettes . I think he died of cigarette related heart disease .
edge of your seat suspense. WOW what a movie.
Now that's a good old 70's movie.
Great movie. thanks for sharing
This movie was something else with Coburn being the badass he had to kickass. Great concept for a movie even though i beleive in real life it would not happen ahhh choo bless James coburn & bless Skyriders.
wow, a film where children act like children!!!
Thanks...now I know where the intro for Fall Guy came from.
Good film
