As a person that wears eye glasses, this episode has haunted me for 40 years! LOL
Lol!
Considering he was legally blind and the fragility of glasses in the 1960s the first order of business should have been to find what was left of his local optical shop and see if anything was salvagable.
"I hope nothing happens to his glasses."
I felt so bad for you when you said that, knowing what was coming. No matter how many times I see this episode, it always hits me in the feels at the end.
"This guy better not lose his glasses"
*OH BOY!*
I loved your reaction to this episode. I was waiting for you to say what you said about his wife. Horrible spouses were common in The Twilight Zone. The actor, Burgess Mededith, played in 4 Twilight Zone episodes. In one, "The Obsolete Man" he played a librarian. I found it an interesting compare and contrast.
To me, he will always be Mickey. Get up, you son-of-a-b*tch, because Mickey loves ya.
@@TheSciFiDogLady To me he'll always be... well, you can figure it out.
Hey SciFi Dog lady. This is such a classic episode & that ending hits pretty hard. Great reaction vid.
Part of why glasses are made of plastic now is because old glass ones like this would shatter so easily and it could end up in your eye. In the short story his eyes are so terrible that he has to order special lenses from out of town. As a bookworm myself, I always felt for poor Henry.
Gooooooooooood! Your reaction was awesome! Luv ya! 💖
There you have it one of the MOST iconic Twilight Zone endings.
Also this actor was in Batman 66
Yes, The Penguin. Burgess Meredith was a great actor.
I know him. He was Mickey from Rocky.
I was a kid when this aired and had my glasses a short time. My vision was about the same as the character I bugged my parents till they bought me a extra pair of eye glasses.
Famous episode.
The ending of this episode was rated #25 by TV Guide in their list of "Most Memorable Moments in Television."
One of the episodes that have shaken me the most.
Always save your old pair of glasses, in case the new ones break.
I like to think he eventually found another pair of glasses
"Wait. I can still read the large-print books!" (eyes fall out)
LMAO
Mr. Bemis: "That's not fair!"
Me: "Who ever said life was fair?"
I'm sure he won't suffer long, tho. At his age, the radiation sickness will finish him quickly.
That concept came about a decade later. A cheery thought, don't despair you'll soon die an agonizing death.
Always look on the bright side of life…
I’m really loving your Twilight Zone reactions! It’s my favorite show, I’ve seen every single episode multiple times and I have a bunch of favorites that I look forward to you seeing.
really like this episode. The 'anti-reading' was a bit heavy handed. But that ending was really something.
My favorite is the Santa Claus episode. Perfect for the Holidays.
"The Night of the Meek" has always been a favorite Christmas episode, because it is about Humanity. "Henry Corwin" is a minor player in Life, but he cares about the people in his neighborhood. Quite a bit better than "The Santa Clause," overall. "Romney Wordsworth" was a more interesting character, who outsmarted The Chancellor.;)
First episode i ever watched - omg it was gut-wrenching O_O
Young folks, believe it or not, many years ago without phones or internet lots of us were addicted to reading. And there were always the mouth breathers who couldn't understand us. I was about 10 years old when this episode came out and I was already a voracious reader.
As an avid reader if there was any more grounds for divorce than that 😂
That's why Lens Crafters gives you an extra pair.
XD
I just discovered your channel! I loved this reaction! This is one of my favorite Twilight Zones, and one of the very first I ever saw. It haunted me! Your reaction was fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing more on your channel! I love that you do classic movies!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thanks!
This is one of my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone.
Rarely a happy ending in the Twilight Zone. At least his wife got blown up. I noticed your mic was only working on the right speaker, might want to check on that.
Had a microphone, but died. Need to save again to get another one
I really liked this episode, acting was good too.The ending was sooo dreadful for this guy.
You don’t actually see him pull the trigger, but suddenly he sees that massive wreckage of the library right in front of him? I still think to this day he committed suicide and this is his Hell.
Oh, wow, never thought of this that way
I think he put the gun down somewhere else-and now can't find it because he can't see!
Great reaction video enjoyed it. Try nightmare at 20,000 ft season 5 episode 3. You can thank me later. Its my favorite
That episode is already in the original list. You might want to check my first TTZ video. The list is there. After that it's "The monsters are due on Maple Street"
funny he was in Of Mice and Men he was George
First view!!!!!! Yay!!!! First like!!!
😃
Just Damm!
PS: The four "Twilight Zone" episodes I would really love for you to do: "Nightmare At 30,000 Feet" (possibly the most famous Twilight Zone episode), "Mirror Image", "The Lonely". and "The Invaders". EDIT: I see you did "The Invaders" already! Going to watch that next!
My first episode contains the full list for this season.
❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Curious question. you are reacting to two series from the 1960's. I enjoy these old series. Have you heard or seen 'The Time Tunnel' series from that decade? If not, you may want to add that Sci-Fi series to your future watch list. The title gives you the theme. Look forward to future reactions.
I haven't!
@@TheSciFiDogLady Well then, if you ever decide to, the first episode launches Project Tic-Toc and introduces the audience to the Time Tunnel; a portal to the past & future. There wer only 30 episodes to this series. Enjoy!!
Time Travel was much more interesting in "Quantum Leap" (1989-1993). "Dr.Sam Beckett" goes through many changes through the series.;)
