As an Indian, who has been to Bhutan quite often, I wanted to make some additional points.
    (i) The Indian currency Rupee is freely accepted in Bhutan (Currency: Ngultrum) where 1 Rupee = 1 Ngultrum
(ii) The Indian language Hindi is quite well understood by majority of the nationals as most of the people do pursue their higher studies in India
(iii) Correction: The Indian counterpart of the Phuntsholing entry point was pronounced as JALGAON (which means Water Village) but actually it is JAIGAON (which means victory village). The map showed correctly though :-)
(iv) Geographically, Bhutan only has 2% arable land which is concentrated in the Terai plains region which borders India, where generally rice is cultivated
Note: And yes , the queen might really be the most beautiful monarch in the world right now. Oh yeah , the food is very spicy and I am saying that as an Indian :-)

By integrating accommodations with passage into the country and charging them directly, cultivate a decently inviting destination for tourists without the problem of foreign-operated resorts sending the tourism money right back out of the country, as well as encouraging tourists to leave the hotel/resort area with the built in tour guides.

    • @luvsuneja

Due to Bhutan engaging mostly high end tourists, stuff like Bhutanese handicrafts, cab fares and hotel fares are higher than neighbouring countries. Also, people seemed to have universal healthcare and education which is quite spectacular for South Asia. Overall, the people seemed quite chill and contented.

Bhutan is my favourite foreign country after Nepal.
    1. It accepts Indian currency (in fact has pegged its currency to India's at 1:1)
    2. Doesn't demand passport from Indian people for visit and is a good holiday destination :)
    3. It also has the most glamorous flag. In that, it's number 1 and Nepal is number 2

Your king likes to show westerners that bhutanese are happy and all but in reality that's just a propaganda to keep staying in power.
And yeah kathmandu and few cities might be crowded and not very clean but we don't need any permits to go from one place to another... and we don't pretend to be something else... we are proud on what we are. 😍😍

Bhutan is majestic. The reason behind the endless happiness of the Bhutanese people is, they are not blindly copying the west and promoting heartless capitalism. They do not worship capital or economy. Instead, they respect Nature and Humanity. GDP is the worst criteria to measure how advance a civilization is. Bhutan has shown this to the entire world.
