Since most who speak it also speak English they tend to speak English in public. You would probably have to find some small hamlets with a low population that have a large portion still speak French to be able to speak their. 1812 was a UK-US war, with Canada being the natural launch pad for Britain. Canada wasn't independent until 1867, and still technically a dominion of the British Empire until 1931. Any wars that Canada fought up to 1931 was a result of British policy, not Canadian.

So was Day 1 before or after the Hawley Tariff Act? Which had America raise taxes on Canadian products which led to Canada doing the same which pushed both countries into a Great Depression in the 1930s? I don't think being there for someone mean's bitterly attacking their economy, or the multiple cross-border conflicts since 1867, or USA's multiple plans for invasion and Canada's plans for invasion. There are at least 2 other countries that should have been not only mentioned but explained in the friendship part of the video. Namely, Germany and The Netherlands. Canada has very large immigrant populations of these two countries. During WW2, Canada liberated The Netherlands and also allowed the Dutch royal family to live in Canada. To this day, the two countries share a very close friendship. Some people may be surprised to learn that outside of Germany, the largest Oktoberfest is in Kitchener, Ontario (formerly Berlin) and surrounding cities in Waterloo Region, attracting over 700,000 visitors annually. As a Canadian, I myself celebrate Oktoberfest every year, and it is a very good time (highly recommend it).
