Walked his way through Charadon and Ultramar, destroying and plaguing everything with little resistance or punishment. The only time he got outdone was by Fabius Bile in War of the Spider, but then it's a win for another Chaos character. Ironically, the bad luck for Chaos seems to be around the Primarchs, namely Magnus and Mortarion. Guess some things haven't changed since the Heresy, heh

Don't forget about the Iron Hands. I feel like there's some good narrative potential there for Vashtor to tempt them. Maybe offering them fully mechanical bodies or access to lost or forbidden tech?
Personally the thing I'm the most hopeful for is that because we now know daemons directly from the forge of souls exist, I really really really hope it's retconned that Perty is the A daemon primarch of the forge of souls. It's really the only way I can possibly think to make him ascending to daemonhood work in some way.
@@livefromtheblacklibrary from what I understand he is undivided, but just because he's a daemon prince of chaos undivided doesnt mean he can't "devote" himself to the forge of souls. I use quotes because perty isn't the kind of guy to fully and wholeheartedly devote himself to one thing for long, especially if that thing intends to shackle him. Remember his adopted father. Yes he went along with his plans and played the good son, general, and warrior but his heart was never in it. But I can see a scenario where he devotes himself to something specifically to gain something. my idea is something along the lines of, Before the iron cage, he realizes that he's dying due to the events of angel extermiatus, while simultaneously learning about the forge of souls. If he knew about the forge of souls prior to his ascension (and the lore sticks to the idea that his ascension was in fact done to save his life) I can see him thinking "Ok this is bad. I have two options. Option one, I die, and my soul goes to the warp, get shattered, etc... Not optimal. Option two, I ascend to daemonhood and give up a part of my soul. However, I if i play this right, I can pledge myself to undivided, and eventually gain access to the forge of souls. From there I can learn everything I can about the warp, the daemonic technology and soul forging, and perhaps eventually learn enough to wrestle my soul back from the dark gods." Personally I see this massive gambit as something completely within Perty's character. Not only is this the kind of long game he'd be more than willing to play, he's _absolutely_ arrogant enough to think he can pull a fast one on the dark gods. I also vaguely remember hearing somewhere that at the moment, or directly prior to the events of godblight, perty and mortirian were waring over a temple rumoured to be able to undo their ascension. Don't quote me on that though, I can't for the life of me remember the source. There, I've completed my lore rabble for the week.
Maybe Vashtor eventually will ascend to godhood, with the help of his Kin worshipers. If he does, he might decide that a change of name is in order. Perhaps a Votanni name: Hashut, for example?
I expect whatever god-machine Abaddon helps Vashtorr build will also be capable of resurrecting Horus or something, because he's totally double-crossing him. The writers won't do something that big but Abaddon would try.
@@livefromtheblacklibrary I don't know that you can draw that conclusion from the action though. He felt a need to kill a clone but did he view it as Horus or a pale, hollow, disgusting fake that deserved to be hated every bit as much as the true Warmaster was to be revered?
i don't think is unlikely for the voltans to fall for chaos, in fantasy we had the normal dwarfs and the chaos dwarfs that worshiped an differente Chaos god named Hashut, so you can basically do an Voltan and Dark Voltan, like The Eldar and The Dark Eldar.
really curious and interested about how Cawl and Vashtorr will react in the setting. Especially with the Cawl Inferior "malfunctioning" to Gorrillaman could be because Vashtorr wants Cawl as Fabricator General since he is the only tech priest who pushes progress and actually invents and in doing so empowers Vashtorr.
The link between Vashtorr and the Dark Mechanicum could be great. Vashtorr could be the Anti-Omnissiah, kinda like how Bela'Kor could become the Anti-Emperor. I really like the idea of the Chaos Squats making a comeback. They march onto the battlefield wearing big silly hats, many of their number are chaos corrupted centaur-like abominations that are fusions of flesh and metal, and they summon daemons of flame, oil and metal. I'd prefer to see Perturabo as a withered, barely alive husk kept alive in a dreadnought-like machine, kinda like a dark reflection of the Emperor on the Golden Throne, rather than being a daemon prince. It would better fit his aesthetic of despising the chaos gods and refusing apotheosis, preferring to live in pain than bend the knee to another tyrant(at least in his own eyes). If he is a daemon prince, I think it would make for a better story that the gods turned him into a daemon prince against his will and he is seeking a way to reverse it.
tbh I hope if any marines are going to follow vashtorr they'll be a new warband descended from multiple legions similar to the red corsairs. One of the worst things about how gw writes nu40k is the lack of any renegade marines or anything that isn't imperium or chaos when it comes to humans. the IW and Night Lords are the closest things we have currently
Chaos Votann can be like Chaos Dwarves from fantasy, so it's possible, also seeing a faction being born with no background during the setting would be cool
He just makes too much sense for the Dark Mechanicum in terms of aesthetics and motiff. They joined Chaos so they could actually innovate, and here comes the Chaos God of innovation. Maybe, fluff-wise, they could make it so that the Dark Mech fractured after the Heresy, some serving the different Traitor Legions and some doing their own thing and rulling their own Forge Worlds. Then Vashtorr manifests in real space and declares himself as the "true" Omnissiah, which unifies them enough that they start acting as their own distinct faction again. For the Iron Warriors, I like your idea of a storyline where some of them begin to embrace him and abandon Perty's idea that the warp is just something to be used, embracing it as they now have a Chaos God that represents them, which finally gets Peter to stop playing with his minis and return to the setting. For the Kin, I like the idea but as a minor fluff-only faction for now, just to justify people kitbashing and playing with Chaos-ified Leagues. There's still many potential Xenos and Chaos factions that should get priority.
wouldn't be in Perty's favor to align with Vashtor on the pretense that he rejuvenates Perterabo's missing soulpieces in exchange for a Longterm Alliance with the WHOLE Iron Worriors Legion?
