Kakorot? I doubt there’s much there since it seems like dbz games as well as others don’t get the same amount of love put into them, not that the newer games are bad, I love xenoverse but they don’t really play around with the characters like the little comments they made in the ps2 days, god what I would do for a good copy of dbz budokai tenkaichi 2 or 3
Would be interesting to see the dbz crossover games featured too (like Jump Force or games that feature DBZ references). As for actual DBZ games it'd also be cool to see random trivia also (games like budokai have a lot of interesting trivia/drama surrounding the development).
Have you tested the beam clashes to see if there's any easter egg or any of the interesting differences when failing to succed doing it in budokai 2/3?

Expanding on the first detail, Scouter characters have an easier time locking on to characters. If you break their scouters though, then they actually have a considerably harder time locking onto their enemies again compared to people who can sense ki already.
To expand even further on this, scouters can lock on through obstacles.
To expand even further beyond, android characters cannot be detected.

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen anyone mention this. One character that is completely immune to the super armor rule is Arale. No matter what character, she will always be able to stagger every opponent. This being a reference to the fact that she is just too powerful to be stopped.

Im not sure if you covered this already but:
If you manually fuse your health bars add up, potentially getting all bars of HP, rather than choosing the charater from the selection screen and having default HP.
Also, in the game if you stay for example SS3 for a long period, your KI will charge slower forcing you to go back to default form. This is because as Goku said, SS3 is a hard form to keep up.
But if you climb back and transform again. I think you can enjoy full ki charge SS3 (i dont remember this last part throughly)
To be precise, in Tenkaichi 3, if you fuse manually, your character gets everything from the two characters used for the fusion. Even the item boosts.
However, I don't think the life 100% adds up because in the "Challenge" fights or whatever was their names, you do not get a perfect health score if you fused. Even if you did not get hit.
Did you know that all characters move at a different speed when flying? If I remember correctly, Super Trunks is one of the slowest, while Base Form Trunks and Super Saiyan Trunks are some of the fastest.
That's not that interesting, ya know...characters have stats, of course.
so that makes trunks even better in the competitive scenario, since you will start with 3 ki bars and you will have one of the fastest character in the game
@@chadzaru Yup. Most people I've played against (including myself) hold him as an S-Tier character, along with Perfect Cell, Android 17 and a few others.

@@Jerry-ef2uy He's the fastest moving Android in the game, he has that Double-Ball attack which does more than 8000 damage and can be thrown from very close (close enough to make dodging them 2 consecutive frame-perfect inputs), but most importantly: he has the quickest passive Ki generation in the game.
All of this combined means that you can throw the Double Ball attack, launch the enemy away with a charged attack, fly away for like 5 seconds, then repeat.
Add to that that he has that filthy Android Barrier, and it's just ridiculous.
I think I noticed Edward Elric and Envy in the crowd as well of the World Tournament arena. Also, I think Ultimate Gohan breaks the super armor in BT2. Weird that they changed it.

I think Kid Buu is pretty OP when it comes to competitive play. He also spawns with 3 Ki bars and you can instantly go into either KameHameHa or an Attack combo. And speed is definitely super high compared to that of Ascended Trunks!
It's great that Tenkaichi 3 still has videos made about it. Such a great game. Wish they made a newer game in that combat style.

I feel with the Saibamen it's 100% them being plants. Even their capsule is shown to be half seeds and half water, meaning water makes them rapidly grow if they were able to reach maturity from a seed in seconds.
I love the detail and didn't know they charged faster underwater until this video, so thanks for adding it to the video.
Saibaimen (their original jp names) means cultivationmen so that checks out!
It is Saibamen are plants 🪴 so thats like giving them energy.
Every time I watch one of these videos I think of how bad we need another game with THIS level of attention to detail. It’s mind blowing how much heart for actual fans went into this game.

Dang these games are insanely detailed, makers must've really loved the lore, it's great to see
The search mechanic came from the first Budokai Tenkaichi game. Used to be a requirement before a fight starts outside of story mode but got removed either in BT2 or BT3. It was kind of cool since most stages would place you in different areas and whoever could find the opponent first could have a slight advantage at the start.
It got removed in BT2, but BT2 still allowed us to cancel the lock-on at any time. BT3 restricted a ton of freedom elements, including this neat trick.

@@SonnyDha_B I was considering the idea that you were forced to find your opponent before the match started and not the active lock-on mechanic itself, but I think it makes more sense to consider it got removed in 3 instead of 2.
Yeah I remember holding L1 before a match starts to get the instant lock-on even in BT2 and BT3. Found out much later that I didn't need to do that for the latter games lol.
@@devilex121 Only BT2. BT3 happens automatically and there's no need to press the button/lock on happens as soon as battle starts (I was playing BT3 this week)

Idk if you mentioned it before but heres a neat thing I noticed in BT3. When you fight a giant character and use a dashing special attack, you’ll bounce off them and it will fail. Yajirobe is the only character in the entire game with a unique dash special which actually hits giant characters, its his ultimate attack and is a reference to when he chopped off great ape vegeta’s tail
Edit: like others said, ssj3 goku and tapion also have super dashes that hit giant characters, these are the only three in the game that work
Edit 2: Kid goku and ssj4 goku also work, I wonder if theres more!
No there’s more characters who can do that, tapion does a sword attack against big characters as well and I think ssj3 goku can do dragon fist on big characters too. All in reference to their fight against hirudegarn in the movies.
I think Goku's Dragon Fist also hits, but i'm not 100% sure.
@@seb24789 pretty sure it does but goku has to do the dragon fist at full power with 4 guages stocked up the little bar with numbers on it next to the health bar.

@@diegopinon5275 I don't think all would work, such as Ultimate Gohan's, SS Gogeta's or Fasha's. Those animations only work with normal sized characters.

I'm surprised you didn't mention it in your previous video but in Burst Limit if you play as Bardock and have Goku as a partner Goku will acknowledge Bardock as his father in some of his dialogue.

In the cameo characters, there are Envy and Edward Elrick just above Luffy if you pause at 2:16.
Anyone noticed how the move that the competitive players use when using trunks was also in dbs when trunks had his fight vs vegeta. Trunks went ssj grade 3 to lore in vegeta then he went back to regular ssj.

Speaking of scouters. In the first Tenkaichi game, some attacks make your character lose lock on so you have to find the enemy again. Scouter characters and characters with ki sensing abilities can just hold down the button to lock on again even if the other character is outside your fov. For scouter characters, this only works if they haven't suffered clothing damage yet, because that breaks their scouters. And it doesn't work on androids (who also don't show up on the minimap).
The passion they put into these games are why they a beloved so much. Really hope that they do the same with the new Tenkaichi 4 with no rushing. I want to say that the Ultra Trunks form was in Tenkaichi 2 also, even with the same attributes (slow punching & ki blasts)
Unfortunately, I think it will be rushed and the whole roster from Tenkaichi 3 won't transfer over to it's 4th iteration

3:59 if I'm not mistaken, SSJ2 Teen Gohan (the version that fights cell) can also instantly break super armor, even though he hasn't reached SSJ3 level strength, which makes it even more ironic that Mystic (Ultimate at the time) Gohan doesn't break super armor instantly.

I don't know if this has been covered before, but i vividly remember that in some of the tenkaichi games (probably 2 or 3) some characters deflect Freeza's (and maybe others as well) death beam's just like a regular ki-blast instead of dodging it via teleporting. I remember that at least Dodoria was able to do it.

This is just an idea but it would be neat to see a comparison of unique character actions in BT3 that take reference to the anime. For example when kid Gohan reflects a charged Ki blast he uses the same pose when he reflected the spirit bomb towards vegeta. Or also how some characters pull out unique weapons that are referenced in the anime like Chi Chi pulling out the bansho fan and king cold pulling out trunks sword. The developers that created these fighters move sets really took into consideration how they fought in the anime which makes every fighter so unique. It’s amazing how they were able to capture how each character flew, fought, posed and so on. This game was made with so much love and dedication, I still come back to play it on my PS2 every now and then. I wish they’d make a new Tenkaichi with an updated roster and graphics but I doubt it would come out as perfect as this game with all its small details that even to this day we continue to find.

I've always loved how the gameplay totally nailed the fighting styles and mannerisms of each character, SS2 "Teen" Gohan for example, his basic combo looks just like the moment where he and Cell are trading blows and dodging eachother in the show.

Haven’t played BT3 in a long time, but I remember when I played as hercule when I used his special move with the dynamite the majority of characters wouldn’t move during the animation, but if you used it against weaker characters they would actually be affected

Fun fact: those little mini games during the loading screens? The reason they never caught on is Namco put a patent on the idea. Legally, nobody else was able to use an interactive loading screen without a lawsuit. They never did much with it after they patented it, basically just what you see here mostly, but it made sure nobody else was able to.

I wish Battle Of Z was talked about more. I feel like that was a concept that needed one more shot. DBFZ Party Ring mode is the closest we got to having 4+ friends brawling at once. I loved the idea of a major battle Royale with 8 friends all having their own fight.

The biggest thing I loved about budakai 3 is how much content they hid behind the story! It’s almost like… playing Nier
Great vid like always! Tenkaichi 3 was literally my early childhood. Here’s a couple things I noticed when playing as a kid:
Androids don’t charge unless all of their yellow ki bars fill up. They also are completely immune to the life drain attacks from Dr. Gero, Android 19, and Cell. The same also goes for Metal Cooler
When you transform as Frieza, Cell, or into a great ape, you gain a little bit of health. When you transform from giant Janemba to Super Janemba however, he loses a bar of health
Zangya breaks the 4th wall. When she beats Krillin, she says “Dontcha wish your girlfriend was tough like me? Dontcha”. It’s a reference to “Don’t cha” by the Pussycat Dolls
When you are a playing as a Super Saiyan character, you can power down back to your regular form. The only exception to this is when you are playing as Broly in his Legendary Super Saiyan form, he can’t revert back to normal
Also, as you noted before, some ultimate attacks disintegrate your opponent’s body. If you kill someone with Buu’s chocolate beam, their body will disintegrate, probably to signify that he ate you
9:06 Actually, they have confirmed Superhero its the last story before the end of Z, meaning the new saga its going to be inmediately after Superhero and then it's the end of Z.

Ah the memories of this game I use to practice none stop with trunks and got to the point where I could switch in and out of grade 3 during the fights for the extra power then switch back to either grade 1 or base for speed

I miss old games too, but in the end I have a choice to either move on or dwell on the past, so I chose to move on because hey if I dwell on the past it's going to ruin me, I don't say this game should be remade or that game should be remastered, I just let the old games die and I say my goodbyes to them burying the hatchet of my old pass while still keeping the merry memories I have of it

I remember using Goku and some d-pad shenanigans to gather energy for the Genki Dama, and it appeared on the center of the map, you had to gather like some 10-15 times for it to be usable, granting an insta-kill if cast

I'm not sure you mentioned this but super android 13's ki blast S.S. deadly bomber is almost impossible to run from because it keeps following its target accross the map, which is a reference to its anime ability.

I would wager that there are a lot more references we just don't recognize - I thought the blonde character pogging in the top left looked like Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter, but the outfit isn't quite the same. It would be cool to see all the sprites.

I thought that charging ki underwater is slower because in most martial arts that ever mentions 'ki' it's always related to controlled breathing so being underwater mess with breathing since you have to hold your breathe.
Kinda like hamon in jojo.....
Funny thing about Vegeta in the Manga/Anime Vegeta gets the hang of sensing ki just before they go up against an enemy that has no ki “The Androids” 😂
@EasyLifeTips00 On Namek he was starting to get a hang of it and at the end of the Namek saga he had become good at it.. But then he returns to earth with Goku and the next enemy they meet there are the Androids.

In Tenkaichi 3, the Kid Goku vs King Piccolo fight in Dragon History has extra Chi Chi vs Tamborine fight if you KO KP without pressing R3 the second time.
I always thought the first one was common knowledge as it’s one of the main focal points of the Tenkaichi series. At least in Tenkaichi 1.
