Oooh ❤I think that Visconti Bordeaux and P.W. Akkerman DM Rembrandt's Karmozijn would pair very well with one of your new Onotos 😉👍
For now, my favourite red is J. Herbin Rouge Grenat, followed closely by Scribo Rosso Chianti and Kobe #74 Myodani Cosmos Red. I do like my reds on the burgundy side of the colour spectrum, leaning more blue than orange.🍷
@@davideselmin8018 I find that it coats my dry Sailor 1911L H-M nib well, and my Sailors 21k H-EF, H-F and H-MF feel smooth on the paper, and retain a very faint hint of feedback. They work very well on wetter pens like the Scribo with an 18k EF nib, and an Aurora 88 Big 14k F with long tines. I'm not crazy about the Al-Star nibs because I have the impression that they squeeze the ink under the nib, which makes it paler. The ink looks great out of the 02, 03 and 05 steel nibs, and coats them well.
It's a saturated ink. I see no sheen on TR 52 gsm paper, but there is an outline on the edge of where the ink pools. Under certain light, there seems to be a slight sheen that quite can't get there, but I’ve not been able to see this consistently.
I mostly use TR 52gsm, the old batch before the switched the machines or manufacturer, Maruman Mnemosyne, Spiral Note and Sept Couleur, Graphilo, CD Premium, Oasis, Clairefontaine Triomphe and Rhodia Ice. I'm not fond of the regular Clairefontaine or the Rhodia in the Black or Orange covers, unless they have no ruling. Depending on your paper and your pens, you may have a different experience than mine using this ink.
If you can, try putting your hands on a sample. Hope this helps. 🤞
Love the akkerman steenrood Vermeer! Love that bloody red!!!
The Visconti Bordeaux reminded me more of a Burgundy wine than a Bordeaux! They're all great colours, though.
I really like the Akkerman DM Rembrandt’s Karmozijn. It seems like Akkerman China Town Red does not get much love from the larger “ink community.” It’s a great bright red. And you totally glossed over Vampire Inks Rush! Red, which is the color of bleeding Canadian eardrums when they are overwhelmed by 140 decibels of sonic perfection! 😇
I need to be more on the lookout for Vampire inks!
@@PenultimateDave 🧛🏻♂🧛🏻♂🧛🏻♂Well, Dave... this explains a lot 😉🤣
I don't have any red inks at all - I just realized. I do like the Akkerman DM Rembrandt’s Karmozijn. Great video!
Late to the party, but anyways: I recommend Diamine Cardinal (Inkvent 2022 if I'm not mistaken). Really solid red in the swatches and writings that I've used it for.
I love diamine red dragon and wild strawberry but I found passion red to be too dry and very light
Also I'd love to get my hands on a diamine skull and roses for my benu skull and roses pen
I'd love to get more deep reds too
Yeah I found the same with Passion Red, it's not as well lubricated it seems.
I like your swatch of Steenrood van Vermeer, a very pleasant red with shading and sheen. Do you know if Visconti inks have changed, or only the bottles ?
Hi Dave just so you know the Akkerman reds are pronounced Karmo zone which is crimson, Steen rood "stain road" is literally red stone or brick.
Thanks!
