    I'll cover three basic steps in micro-rooting:
    1. Warming the Head
    2. Preparing the Hair
    3. Micro-Rooting!

    great video Kim! with the rice sock, I run my hand under water and then squeeze the rice sock to just get it a little damp, it gets the sock hotter and seems to keep it warmer, once in the head, a little longer.

      Just make sure that your hair store hair is actually human hair. A lot of things that say 100% human on the package but are actually synthetic blends. If it cost less than $40 a pack, it is probably a blend.

    For the smallest holes, what size Needle should I purchase?, also how many barbs for a real effect?
    One more question, how do you get the wispy tiny hairs around the face?
    I’ve thrown 6 heads away that I’ve gotten upset with but keep coming back telling myself I WILL do this for my granddaughters, I could give ten one of the baby’s I’ve purchased but that’s not as special. I would love to give them one I made with my old hands to pass down when I’m gone..
    Thank you for any help you may offer..
    Kindest Regards

    I just became a Reborn mommy. She's a Lee Middleton doll. I think she beautiful but what I hate is her hair. Is there any place that I can send her/ take her to where they will change her hair? Her hair is not rooted it's looks as if the hair was placed on a cloth and then glued onto the head. In any case I don't like it and would love to change it to hair that looks more like it belongs on an AA baby head.

    • @janetlittlewood4580
      @janetlittlewood4580 Před 6 lety

      the easiest fix on this is to order a more lifelike newborn doll wig to replace the hair. You can also buy hair and carefully glue instead of rooting. You only glue a few hairs at a time. I have done this with a few dolls as some of the vinyl is just to thick for rooting.

      but there are many great tools out there. You just have the find the one that is comfortable for you.
      Which needle is a far more complicated question because it depends on both how you root and what kind of hair you're rooting. I'm slowly rolling out videos to help with that question. But in the meantime, all the information is on my blog: customdollbaby.com/3/post/2015/12/rooting-103-assessing-your-needle-needs.html

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  Před 7 lety

      You can root human hair on a newborn doll. The challenge is that adolescent/adult human hair is a lot thicker hair follicle than infant human hair, which is why we typically use goat hair to look more like baby hair. In any case, you can certainly use your daughter's hair, but depending on her age when it was cut, you may have some challenge getting it to lay down on the doll. Here's a lot more information on rooting human hair:

    hi i was wonder if can use human hair instead of mohair

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  Před 8 lety +3

      +Jenna Albert You can use human hair instead of mohair. I typically use human hair on my toddlers. A strand of human hair is about 2x as thick as a strand of mohair. So it will have a tendency to want to stick up where mohair would have laid down. But I think fine European hair would look nice on an infant doll.

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  Před 8 lety

      Hi +Desiree Velez ! That sounds frustrating. :( I'm using a 42 gauge crown with Ruby Red mohair. What kind of hair are you using? If the barbs are too shallow and the hair is too thick, it won't catch. There's more info on barb depth and hair diameter on my website. Hope that helps! customdollbaby.com/reborn-doll-artist-tips/rooting-103-assessing-your-needle-needs

    • @desireevelez1299
      @desireevelez1299 Před 8 lety

      +CustomDollBaby.com I usually use Delta Dawn and have used Slumberland Hair. I have never used Ruby Red mohair. I think I've ordered the 42g crown, I'll have to look through my container of needles, I went ahead and ordered the tool you're using :) For the majority of the time I wrap a rubber band around the top to hold it. But I'll check out your link. You make it seem so easy (and looks great!) I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. Have a great week!!

    • @Customdollbabycom
      @Customdollbabycom  Před 8 lety

      These are finer mohair brands than Ruby Red, I'd imagine. A 42g should be deep enough to catch. You can also make sure that the barb side of the needle is facing the direction from which you're grabbing the hair. I demonstrate this in another video: czcams.com/video/qvXr25c-UOs/video.html Good luck!
