I have been following since your first videos and I like how honest and vulnerable you can be which we can relate to as a person. We all face hardships and it is nice to have that perspective because not everything is sunshine and rainbows. You are encouraging me to start experimenting with my own ideas and try to build something ❤🎉
I’m so glad you didn’t give up! I’m sorry someone else got there first but I totally believe in the quality you can bring to the idea. And you’re totally right about the funding validating the need for your idea in the first place! Keep going! I’m excited to see your growth!
consider this - better finding out now about competitors than being caught flat footed when / if you do plan to raise money and an investor brings it up
Really excited to see this journey. Scary for sure, but a journey worth pursuing
Hi Marcela, just wanted to say I admire your courage to create and start your own company and keep things going ❤really excited for your app launch 🚀 I’m rooting for you 🙌🏼
I’m so sorry about your bad day and about your bike! My first thought about the similar startup issue was Uber vs Lyft. There can be more than one company offering a similar service, and many think Lyft came later and did it better anyways!. Or the story of Walmart - Sam Walton didn’t invent discount retailing. He learned it from others and did it better than anyone else! You can do it! Sending good vibes.
Go Marsela! I have always been inspired by you. I wish you all the best in your career! ^_^
don't stress.. don't stress.. you will get thru this Marsela 😊 it's okay to cry... don't give up, until you feel its time to do so...
Marsela I wish you all the best in this new journey, much love and goodvibes. Sorry about your bike btw:(
I'm so sorry to to hear about your bike. I had one stolen out of an parking garage a few years back too, it's such a bad feeling. 😥
Hii Marsela, I come to send you good vibes and that everything works out for you! And Happy Holidays ✌🏻✌🏻
I rarely comment, and I still didnt watch this video.. I found your channel before you moved to your new house, and everything now is different with your vlogs, that got me looking forward to your new videos.
What I like the most are the bits about software developing, see I can relate to that. I'm also an engineer and a developer but i can't find my feet yet, struggling... and your enthusiasim and ideas are very inspiring, really. I just wished if your videos are longer, that is the only disappointent...
I hope you would give more advices to those who are trying to find better opportunities in freelancing and software developing while their portfolios are not that big or impressive.
I saw your videos about similar subjects. But more specifically to those stading alone with lots of potentials but nothing in hand to recommend them.
wow i loved your videos are amazing so much 😍😍😍
Exactly, that's what I was thinking... you have a unique perspective on how to bring this vision to life, an influence, and a plan that differs from what anyone else is doing simply because you are your own unique creator with unique experiences. Myspace was around but that didn't stop facebook from coming into existence and just like that and the digital coupon space you mentioned hundreds of other examples. I am so happy to see you still giving this your all and taking that discovery as validation that you are on the right path with both idea and action. Believe that success in inevitable and it will manifest itself in your current reality. Sending you lots of love!
Aww thank you Antonella!! I need your hype up messages on the daily 😂🤍🤍 so motivating and sweet!! Appreciate you always!
oh dang!!! ive Literally been to all the flip events they've had😩. I totally forgot they had a site like that
Such a bummer about your bike 😢 but I’m glad that you’re still moving forward with your app 😊
Beautiful view. Thanks for posting
😃👍🏽✌️❤️
sorry to hear that yah bike got stolen 😔😔 hopefully things will turn around better for you
Now I want some KBBQ. It's been too long!
Use airtags for your next bike. Saved my husband when his ebike was stolen… and like you he used a krytonite lock for it too
I've had my brand new bike stolen before and it was stolen literally right in front of my building with a doorman and everything even though it was locked so I definitely feel for you because having your bike stolen feels like having a kidney stolen 😭
should put the airtag somewhere on or inside the frame of the bike
1. Does Kryptonite have a guarantee ?
2. When my ebike was stolen, I posted its picture on Nextdoor and a few weeks later, someone found it.
3. The AirTag stuck in the frame is a great idea. I did that after it was stolen and returned.
4. SO SORRY this happened!

Hey I just found this video and I’m not sure it will help you, but I was in an identical situation to yours in 2017. A young ambitious female in LA, working on a startup alone, after quitting my 6-figure+ job, living on savings. I wasn’t nearly as stressed as you (or organized 😅) but it was very lonely. I lasted one year and my startup failed because I had to quit due to finances. I was forced to get a job. I worked there for a year before I quit again to do a second startup. I tried to run this one while working so I wouldn’t lose much money again. This time it failed because I wasn’t available/invested enough so I just let it die. This year, in 2022, I started my third company which grew to $1M in revenue in 8 months. I left my job only when the revenue exceeded my income.
After everything I went through, I have some unsolicited advice lol. 1. You need a real team/cofounder (people you love/trust that truly believe like you, not randoms). 2. Nothing that makes no money is a “business,” it’s a hobby/dream. I know that’s harsh but really internalizing this message will save you your life savings. 3. This is a marathon not a sprint. It may take years and many startups for you to make it (like me) so embrace the journey. If it feels like hell to you, you may not last the years required. It took me 5+ years of fits and starts, and I still don’t know if this thing really really works!
Having said that, I have so much sympathy for your situation. I still don’t regret quitting my job (!) and I wish you the best of luck!
Oh sorry one more! You can’t be getting matcha lattes at Alfred’s while living in Venice Beach on this path. This was a big part of my issue too. I was totally unwilling to give up my lifestyle. You’ll be so much more likely to succeed if you move in with your parents and try not to spend money (I never did this but it’s a huge difference maker)
I always appreciate hearing others startup journeys and their learnings! Congrats on your latest success, that's amazing!
I agree with a few of your points! I do have a business plan. Of course it’s a marathon. Anything worth having in life usually requires a marathon of work. I don’t have a cofounder, but I’m scouting. I personally know founders with successful billion $ exits that met at a networking event so it’s not always true that a cofounder needs to be a close friend to begin with. You just have to work with what you have! And I have a youtube community, so why not tap into it.
I appreciate your pov, but just making it clear for anyone reading this comment - every journey is unique, there’s no set playbook.
And as a sidenote, I won’t be giving my Alfred lattes anytime soon. I may have quit my job aka my biggest source of income and biggest time sink - but I’m still making money. You’re watching this youtube video aren’t you? 😉
thank you for watching! And wish you the best with your company!!
what is required of a cofounder 👀👀
Welcome to the world of being self-employed and total pricks that think it is acceptable to steal other peoples belongings. Firstly, feel sorry for the thief because they will never amount to anything! Secondly, forget about what other businesses are doing, it will only stifle your creativity within your own business. For now nothing else matters but getting that business up and running, holidays, hobbies and other fun stuff can wait! You will enjoy them more once you are established. Now go get em girl!!
Hi Marsela before you find a cofounder ask yourself if you need one or if you wish you had someone to talk to. I suggest you join people around your area that are building startups. Being that you are in California it should be easy to find like-minded people. I tell you from experience, sometimes your cofounder may not be as passionate as you are. As for the other platform I had no idea that existed so don't fret. There will always be competition and companies doing things differently.
Anxiety + coffee = not good 😏
1:45 what was that? A digital planner?
Hi Marsela, i'm studying programming at university and now in the hollydays I would like to create a project in html, php, ajax, js ... but I don't have any ideia. Could you give me some topics and ideias? I also love your blogs because of the content and the are very chill 😀. Please keep bring to us those awesome blogs. A big hug from Portugal. 🇵🇹🇵🇹
Your apartment doesn’t have a camera in the garage??
What do you mean you "create tickets" for your task? Do you have like a tool you use to keep track of your tasks? Just really curious since i'm currently working on my grad school thesis and i'm working on my software, I feel like my brain is all over the place with all the task I have to do 😁
Look up Jira
Hey great work on this video of software engineer you are busy with life
This world has enough opportunities for us all, don't let an established company discourage you
Sorry for the bike
Would love to hear more of your thoughts on a co-founder. Qualities, skills sets, etc that you’re looking for! Very interested :)
Also, so glad you’re not giving up because of the other company. Even with overlap, what makes your company special is you, the branding, and the mission. They may have similar functions but people will gravitate toward what they resonate with and personally, I love your style and vibe. You got this :)
If you get another bike might want hide an AirTag or similar on it.
Hello Marsela ! Love what you’re doing, if you want embedded software engineer’s help let me know!
Will be happy to give you idea or get in touch with someone I know with a social enterprise thingy for your business! Wish you the best
Hi Marsela, what profile are you looking for that co-founder?
If you need extra hands for your startup, I would happily join your journey! I am a EE senior but I have programming academic and work experience! Let me know if you are interested.
Hahaha I stole your bicycle
sorry baby, it is no interesting...! wastage of time!
