In the resident evil two remake, Claire and Leon swear and panic when there is a monster. Kinda more realistic.

2. all troubles in Silent Hill become “physical”, because the town wants you to feel the heaviness of your sins.
This leads to a conclusion that the Void can be slowed down with obstacles.

Well they made silent hills less scary and puts in less quality works. There's much better creativity put into the monsters of previous silent hills games instead of the genetic zombies they used as lesser monsters into this game. The black hole instead of being scary is much more annoying.
Beside Sjws in the past decade have been using the internet to controls game developers, making them out in less violence and gores. That includes gaming journos.

The Void, as its actually known in game, is a representation of Murphy's guilt trying to consume him so stress is apt.
Its also a good representation of what its like to live with anxiety ngl

But yea, it does strip away some of the subtle creeping horror Silent Hill was famed for. Which sucks.
The void is a crappy idea simple as. It's not scary or anything just lazy design. Downpoor is pretty meh overall compared to the original 4

And to think some people actually consider Downpour scarier than Homecoming. Like nah fam, not with these generic ass creature designs. For better or worse, Homecoming had some damn great monsters.
@N0G3T✔ it may be scary but Homecoming has much better enemy designs than Downpour.
For me the monsters from Homecoming are more terrifying in terms of design but those from Downpour despite their simple design are more scary thanks to the setting, soundtrack and Murphy's panic screams
Homecoming had great monster designs but some of them were blatantly copied off from Silent Hill 2 like the Nurses, Pyramid Head and the Lying Figure with no basis in characterisation to back it up.
The trench coat guys looks more like a resident evil monster then a silent hill monster

@@umukzusgelos4834 SH 1 was a normal nurse, and they are there bc of Alessa trauma, SH 2 they were sexualised on purpose bc of James issues with his wife(is much more complex if you analise his character). In SH 3 they were sexualised too but less than 2 and they were there bc of Alessa trauma as well, later with Team Silent quiting the series they just put the nurses without sense just for her popular image as pyramid head.

The black hole chase is fucking hilarious, I mean the screams are like the exact same ones from that The Mummy remake trailer with the sound design incomplete that was released accidentally
They should have just not made the black hole sections, and used the resources to make some actual scary monsters.

I think Downpour is pretty underrated game. Yeah when it released it was "unplayable" but they made this game playable again after some patches. I think this game has a good story, ok combat mechanics that works (much better than Homecoming) and good puzzles. And overall, this game is better than Origins and Homecoming for me. But I must admit that these generic monster design's are worst in series.
Despite generic monster design I actually think the gameplay makes it scarier, there are way less shotgun ammos and the monsters are quite strong, making them more terrifying. Silent Hill 1 had a problem where monsters were scary but then you get used to it and just kill them easily.

I think the biggest annoyance i have is that every monster got a small cutscene of "this is the enemy for this chapter, get used to them" type of thing but the MAIN BOSS at the END OF THE GAME doesnt get ANYTHING?? All we've seen of him throughout the game is him in that wheelchair and we never even got a close look at him but they decide to have Murphy just walk up on this foo in the most casual way like.... um this foo just grew like 6 stories tall and is now attacking, maybe do a cutscene introducing your big finale? No? okay..

There were a couple good monsters in this... namely just the one boss at end, but everything else was crap. It's twisty story idea was cool and the atmosphere was well done.
I mean, the boogeyman was alright, and at least they didn't just reuse Pyramidhead, like in Homecoming.
Plus, the dolls that could only be seen in UV light, and need to be killed by destroying a certain mannequin was interesting as a concept, even if the same couldn't be said for a lot of other monsters.
Also, the idea of one of the bosses alluding to a warden and basically his attack dogs was interesting... Buuut, I really wish they went further than they did with what we had.

My problem with this game and all the modern Silent Hill games is that I don't find them scary. But overall I had a good experience with most of them.

I think he’s referring to Homecoming, cuz you were able to dodge and do a bunch of weird maneuvers that didn’t seem right, Classic SH games actually felt tough cuz melee weapons served different purposes and you could only lock on and attack, you had to choose whether you should use ammo to pick of people from a safe distance, or risk getting hurt and use your melee
This game doesnt have a battle system, just attack and block
Downpour is easily in my top 3 silent hill games of all time! 2 is my favorite obviously since it was the first one I ever finished, but this one is so underrated since it was buggy when it came out. Such a cool game :D

I think the older ones are better for mentally scaring you, like the plot of Silent Hill 2. But I think Homecoming and Downpour are more scares of the physical type, with the monsters being much more real-looking.
Yeah I can see that point of view for sure! Though one of the major things I personally experienced from downpours gameworld was a very lonely atmosphere. Where as the atmosphere I experienced in the older games was more tense and oppressive. It’s a subtle difference and I know something like that is really subjective but I really like both but for different reasons
What was your 3rd favorite Silent Hill game?
I like the meaning behind the Void; a vicious force that pursues Murphy relentlessly symbolizing how the past is always after him. However, the way that idea was implemented into the game wasn't well done. The sequences were really frustrating to play, having you run in circles until you go the correct path, and the fact that you can run through it so long as you have enough health just takes away the fear factor completely.
Idk why but 5:04 that monster was so funny to me. Just makes me think I'm watching people play The Hidden and the guy just accidentally fell from the ceiling and scared the shit out the other player.
His screams are so amazing, they sound very real :)

Dean it's pretty painful for me to say this but i think it's best to let the series die and save the good memories of the series than let Konami tainted the title with mediocre sequels

The spacetime warp bubble is extremely annoying because it's too frequent. Once or twice would be fine. Once you'd say "Fuck that gave me anxiety, I hated that" and a second would make you say "Oh my god, not this again, I'm panicking right now."

Caged in bearing your sickness or pain on your own, having to become one with the chair just with eyes. Feeling trapped while being pushed around seeing others in worse condition than you...or the cold shoulder of nurses passing by. Ppl looking defeated by their ailment makes one wonder "Am I next?" Then when at the room they tell you to get on the bed. Dropping you off like another package making you muster up to repeating yourself to get aid,the cold dense room...like cold dropplets...this here was "SPOT ON".😲😲😲😲😲😲😧😤😤😤😤😤😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😩😩😩😩😩
It’s a nice game, although it doesn’t have te coolest monster design I really enjoyed it. I hope that we can see a next silent hill game in 2021 :3.

Honestly, SHD lacked monster creativity. The monsters looked basic af compared to other SH games. NOTHING disturbing at all, from their designs to their movements... pretty basic. I'll give it a point to the invisible dolls though, they were creepy and the better ones in this game.

Great video man , the game combat lagged it needed alot of fixing and the story should have had Murphy deal with his inner demons first then end it with killing his sons murderer with this being fixed I know the game would have done much better .

@@brangit6477 dead space is definitely not underrated. The second game was a mega hit, selling like 5 million copies. The first was about 2 million copies. Both games are scary as hell. The second was more action oriented and relies on jumpscares often. The first was more horror but I never played it. It was apparently really good though

These monsters don't seem like a threat. Silent Hill needs way better monsters. In Resident Evil, the monsters have been threats for over the years, until RE 7 got the " End of Zoe " DLC, in which you get a chance to watch a guy killing those monsters who were threats for over the years, WITH HIS BARE HANDS. In Silent Hill you can't kill a monster easily even if you had the best weapon in the whole game.
You're not meant to be able to kill them easily
