Well yeah they're both Tourist attractions. Unless you really think circa 2023 that a guy in full dress uniform, with a sword on a horse is really on guard duty? You might notice the Police and soldiers with the assault rifles close by. They're the real guards.

But you wouldn't dare say that to one of them when they are off duty. They are fully trained combat soldiers who rotate to gaurding, and when not doing so perform the same duties as any other front line soldiers. In other words they are trained killers.

I've fallen off like that, one horse and I didn't get on, when I was learning to ride, he'd puff his belly out when I was doing his girth strap up, then add soon as we started the class, he'd pull his girth in and I'd fall off just like that. He did enjoy his lap of honour "look at me, you will not control this perfect beast!"

In Europe, we use modern girths with strong double rubber at the buckle. This means that the girth works very easily when the horse breathes and does not cause such discomfort, so the horses do not have to defend themselves by taking air into their belly. I have been using it for 30 years and the saddle with such a girth has never moved.

I would'nt want strangers spreading their dirty disease on to my beloved animal. Who KNOWS what they have carried in from abroad, malaria, rabies and other nasties like dysentery and cholera from African and Asian countries. Hardly known for cleanliness over there. Saw a video the other night about them bringing diseases here that have killed people and animals. They NEVER wash their hands when using the public toilets. Filthy they are. Poor horses having those dirty, smelly hands all over their lovely faces. Leave them alone. Take a photo and move on, absolutely no need to touch it. No one should grab the reins of horses, just as the nearby signs say several times. No one should approach the area near the door, where the foot guards are on duty. They must not touch the chain, harass or touch the guards.
When people insist on disobeying, they will be shouted at &/or made to leave! These lethally armed guards are the King’s Life Guards, and they are on duty to protect the King’s Life, and the Royal Family. This is not a game, or a pretend dress up demonstration.
