  • A Texas man and his wife say they were trapped inside an urgent care medical center. Austin Jennings went to urgent care with strep throat and the flu. The medical staff set him and his wife up in the examination room. They gave him a breathing treatment and said they would come back. However, 45 minutes went by and the couple says no one returned. When Jennings opened the examination door to use the bathroom, the alarm went off. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.

Happened to me at a Student Health facility in WV. I was in a wheelchair due to weakened state from illness. Staff said "someone would be in shortly" to take me back out front so I could leave. About an hour later a nurse skidded to a stop after passing the exam room I was waiting in, turned around and rushed in demanding to know what I was doing. I told her and she said they'd closed an hour ago and everyone went home! She only came back because she'd forgotten her purse.

  • @CherryGryffon

This LITERALLY happened to my husband and I!! We even heard the nurses say to each other "There's no one in that room is there?" "I don't think so" "Ok. I hope not" And they laughed.
The ONLY reason we didn't get fully locked in, is because we HEARD them say that and stepped outside like "Hello? We're still waiting on the paperwork you were allegedly bringing us??"
And then, they pushed us out a side door with no lighting after dark, telling us "You can't go thru the front door, 'they'll' get mad at us"
Um? I'M MAD AT YOU? Jesus christ why is this a THING.

Back in the 70’s I was 16 and took my little brother for a follow up appointment at a large clinic. We were escorted to an examining room where they just left us there. After a hour and no Doctor, my brother is complaining and wanting to leave. We open the door to fine dark hallways and no one else there. We were locked inside. After an half hour of walking the halls, we came across a janitor that let us out. My mom was livid. She called the next day to give them a piece of her mind.

Happened to me once at an urgent care. They left me there saying a nurse will be back with discharge papers. I fell asleep on the examination bed, then about a little over an hour later as everyone is starting to leave....a nurse opens the door and wakes me up. She said they all forgot about me in the room at the end of the hallway. She asked my name, went told the remaining staff and they brought my discharge papers. She discovered me left there cause she decided to leave all doors open for the nightly cleaning crew. I told them if i would've woken up to see they left me there, i would've raided every office, desk, breakroom and eaten all their snacks/food/drinks while waiting for police to get me out. 😆 They laughed cause they knew i would've done it.

I almost found myself in a similar situation as I had gone to my local clinic this one time as a walk-in for a TB testing that was recommended for one of my college courses. I had gone in at around 11, and I ended up waiting in a room for almost 3 hours before thankfully a nurse came in after realizing that she forgot to conduct the test on me. What made it worse was that I didn't even get to have breakfast or lunch, and by the time I got out, it was almost 4 in the afternoon.

A chart could easily be misplaced or a miscommunication could lead someone to believe that their case had already been taken care of and set it aside to be entered in their system the following day. More importantly is the fact that they didn't have a policy of checking each room before leaving for the day especially if a door is closed (or failed to follow the policy).
