The speedometer in the middle of the cab actually has a red LED light that lights up at 58mph, indicating that you’re about to hit overspeed. These units have a maximum speed of 65mph & will hit overspeed at 67.

If you look closely at the top at 3:24, there's a stencil that says "max speed 75 mph"... makes me wonder if CN got these with a different gearing option

That is amazing. I have been wanting to go for a cab ride on that locomotive since I was in second grade. Do you possibly know the people who do this enough to ask them if there is a way to get a start up sound of that locomotive? Also, I am trying to make it to Pennsylvania next year and would love to go for a ride myself and hear this motor Running up close.

Ex-CN 3568, most CN units had K3L’s back when these units were in service there.

Try getting up to 65mph in these units like I’ve been. My employer used to own 11 ex-CN M420W’s about 25 yrs ago. We actually owned sister 3569, which is now at Exporail in St-Constant, QC.

I’ll also add that 3569 is now on static display & is no longer operational. We sold it to Ottawa Central Railway (OCR) in 2003. OCR cannibalized it for parts, before selling it to Exporail.

Hi I'm putting together a CZcams Video on the M420's, would it be ok if I used some of this footage?
