“For you I am a child, believing” the way they sing is so achingly beautiful
the chord change from "maybe I love you is a river so high" (major) to "maybe I love you is a river so low" (minor) works really really well.

His harmonies really make this song, so subtle yet so effective. Makes it more intimate

Also the backing vocals by Hannah Cohen are great. I'd love it if Big Thief could tour with a backing vocalist to add the harmonies & doubled vocals we hear on many of the recorded songs.
Before I had even seen this comment, I commented:" So sweetly "Buckified".......love when they sing together". I still can't believe I got to see him and his great band in a modest small setting performing his album "Two Saviors" +. So cool they appreciate their audience enough to do shows like that. Before the show while parking my Royal Enfield a guy started chatting with me about bikes and as it turned out he was the bass player! I'm not positive, but if he was Mathew Davidson (or otherwise), doing some searching, he's a very accomplished artist in his own right, and a very decent human too!
This is now a Grammy-noninated song! Congrats.

My son asked to look at Halloween lights tonight, and this came on the radio. I knew instantly it was Big Thief, but wasn’t sure of the song until later. I adore this song more than I can articulate. Just blown away. Crooked as a Crow, gnawing on dawn. I mean, come on.

This band continues to blow me away. Once you get past the Big Thief albums, there's a whole treasure trove of Adrianne Lenker solo stuff or stuff she worked on with Bick Meek.
And then there's Buck Meek's solo stuff, which is a different vibe but also amazingly melodic and original
