Hey Wayne, great videos. My boat is currently a 16' 2000 Lowe (OMC) Angler V hull with a 1998 Evinrude 20 horse outboard and I am enjoying your videos. I bought my very used boat in September 2020 and did a lot of work to it over the winter. I am enjoying using and working on my boat. If I can't be out on the water, it is fun to see the trials and tribulations of others! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the kind words! I really like those 16 ft Lowe V hulls - very nice size and style.

To go one step further with your query of operating the shift controller when not running, you shouldn't engage the shifter with the leg in the fully upright position either. Hard on the U joints 🤷‍♂️ can't be too careful!

Good to know they both turn CCW (Or "Lefty Lucy" as you put it 🙂) since the parts diagram doesn't state that. THanks!

Good video. Mechanics where i take my 5.7 Volvo Penta duo prop do not take props off to change lower unit oil. They remove thru the dipstick tube. Boat is 2002. No problems. Also do not have to put into gear to remove the props. Removing the outside can be done by chalking using a short piece of 2X4. Same with inside prop.

I have a Seloc manual that indicates there are a few variations to these outdrives and I think I saw that there are some that can only be pumped out from above. The 2x4 option is a good one and I might play with that next fall! I was following the Volvo Penta instruction sheet included with the tool.

@@WayneTheBoatGuy yes correct. My lower oil is suppose to be removed as you indicated. But can be done from dipstick. Like your vids. Remind me in the 1980s when bought a used 18’ TriHull. LOL

Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to remove the inner prop after removing the nut (3 prong) with the tool. Then you just bashed it with your hand! Thanks.

Good morning nice job! Do you have a manual for the duoprop? Do you know what is the correct clearance of the hub?

It is great to see a project go so smoothly and it always helps to have the right tools. Do you know why people think it is harmful to shift when the motor is not running? Danger Marine has a nice video to show how the dog clutch engages forward and reverse in an outboard gear case. I think it would be similar in an i/o drive. I can't see where any damage would occur if it is shifted and the motor is not running. Here is a link to the video: czcams.com/video/hYPuB9nmS8E/video.html

I think the concern is that by shifting without the engine running components might not engage properly - but I don't know for sure.
