  • While Lisa Sargeant skated a good performance with 3 triples, the marks still left room for Josee Chouinard (2nd going into the long program) to win the 1990 Canadian ladies singles title. Unfortunately, this long program only placed 4th in the segment, dropping her to 3rd overall.

The first double Axle could be triple. It was so huge and the rotation was finished when the jump was still on top of its curve on the air...

I'd love to see a video of her landing a triple axel in practice, which apparently she was doing in her late 20s. I really like the program itself here, too bad she couldn't control the jumps, a very good skater.

I made my mom make me the dress. Puff sleeves and all.....it was the 90's- don't judge!

Well the costume is cultural, so it's a different situation.

There was no speed going into those triples. They just kinda came out of nowhere. The choreography was ghastly. She vastly improved over the next several years. She didn't look like a contender here at all.

Poor Josee, she averaged about three falls per program her entire career. Cute girl though.
