Telogen effluvium is a scalp disorder characterized by the thinning or shedding of hair resulting from the early entry of hair in the telogen phase the resting phase of the hair follicle.
Treatment for telogen effluvium depends on what is triggering the hair loss. Once the trigger has been established and addressed, the hair cycle should normalize and hair will begin to grow back. Treatment options include: addressing nutritional deficiencies through diet.
Telogen effluvium usually starts about three months after the event. Hair may appear thin, but you likely won't go completely bald. The condition is fully reversible. Once the triggering event is treated or you recover from your illness, your hair may start growing back after six months.
What can you reverse Telogen Effluvium hair loss? If you are experiencing telogen effluvium your hair will grow back with time. Of course, there are some things you can do to help it along. To begin with, rid your body of as much stress as you can.
Hair regrowth with telogen effluvium, it is common for hair to grow back within 3 to 6 months after the cause has been dealt with. Sometimes, the rate of shedding slows down but does not stop entirely. In most cases, no more than 50 percent of the hair is lost.
Hairs will grow for a few years, then rest for a few months shed, and regrow. Telogen is the name for the resting stage of the hair growth cycle. Telogen effluvium is when some stress causes hair roots to be pushed prematurely into the resting state. This is a different problem than gradual genetic hair thinning.
The knowledge that the hair loss will not progress to baldness is comforting to the patient. While topical minoxidil is not proven to promote recovery of hair in telogen effluvium, this medication has a theoretical benefit and is well tolerated.
As you are losing your hair. Now to fix your hair regrowth then you need to use these hair growth supplements. Hair regrowth vitamins such as Vitamin D3, minerals for hair loss such as Zinc and Iron, provide essential hair nutrients to nourish healthy and longer hair.
Vitamin D3 keeps the bones and skin healthy and, in recent years, it's also been linked to hair growth. William Gaunitz suggests that the vitamin can help create new follicles - little pores where new hair can grow.
Zinc plays an important role in hair tissue growth and repair. It also helps keep the oil glands around the follicles working properly. Hair loss is a common symptom of zinc deficiency. The mineral zinc can improve hair growth in people who are deficient in it.
Iron helps red blood cells carry oxygen to your cells. This makes it an important mineral for many bodily functions, including hair growth. Iron deficiency, which causes anemia, is a major cause of hair loss.
Finally, NutraM is one such type of topical Melatonin out in the market. This product not only utilizes the full potential of Melatonin in support of hair growth but also naturally blocks dihydrotestosterone or DHT and helps in reversing the effects of thinning hair. Nutram is a totally greaseless formula that leaves no residue on the hair and scalp allowing it to be easily applied and styled into the hair.

Don't despair. If a hair sheds, that means a new one is growing and pushed out that fallen one. :)
My job was cut October 15, 2020 and I experienced so much stress over Nov-Feb. After the daily job search, I did a lot of mountain hiking every afternoon, lost 15-18 lbs very rapidly and have continued to slim down, so that might have added to my TE. As stated, right at the three month mark in mid-Jan, I noticed increased shedding during showering, drying off and combing hair. Hairs would fall out all day from light pulling to clear them out. My Richard Nixon hairline receded and thinned to a more narrow "Florida" shaped one. 2.5 months later into April, shedding really increased. My temples' hair is very thin and I noticed that I can see my scalp along the sides of my head when looking straight on in a mirror. My top hairs are over six inches long and with so many of those shed my hair doesn't pile as thick and gets easily blown messy by wind. I was "relieved" when in early May I noticed that my toenails and some finger nails had grown out to show horizontal, indented lines in them (beau lines). That is a symptom of TE from my October job loss stress shock event and I knew then that my hair loss was temporary. Around June 15 I noticed very few hairs in the shower, while drying and combing but sadly, I can see so much scalp after towel-drying my hair. Yesterday while I was using a store bathroom and examining my hair in the mirror, the bright lighting showed that I had LOTS of 1/2" to 1 1/2" tapered new hairs peaking out all around from my longer top hairs, my hair part and among the hairs in my hairline !!! I had lots of shedding during May/June so it will take all of 2021 before all those new hairs grow some length and add to the fullness. I will give an update on this comment end of Dec. During Covid I have avoided getting haircuts, but a relative recently trimmed all my hair ends and it's easier to comb wet hair as tangles seemed to add to hair getting tugged out. So trimming hair ends is a recommendation on my list.
    September 5 update:
Still had light shedding while drying off in the shower early July. By mid July there is no shedding while drying or combing, hairs don't come out during light tugs and hair is very rarely on my clothing.
All of those 1/2" and 1" tapered hairs that were peaking out from the longer hair during June are gaining length and many more new 1/2" tapered ones are peaking out. It is safe to conclude that this is taking place all over my scalp because a lot of hairs shed from all over and especially from the back.
    November 4 update:
Hairs almost never come out during light pull tests. I rarely see hairs on the shower floor or walls after towel drying. During January-mid-June I was frequently unscrewing the shower drain stopper to clean out all the hairs that accumulated in it. Now, hair accumulation is no longer an issue.
I add a little bit of gel, comb my wet hair back and rarely have hairs in the comb. When dry, a lot of "daddy long spider legs" show in my frontal areas. My formerly-thinned out temples have lots of 1/2" to 1" hairs and I see a lot less scalp showing as l look straight on in a mirror. Most of the hair on my head is six inches long, but I see a lot of group areas where hairs are two or three inches. So there are a lot of much shorter hairs growing all over, but still not adding fullness.
It is going to take until the end of 2022 for all of those replaced hairs to grow out.

Yes, when in the shower, that Misfits "hair horn" became a fraction of what it used to be. I see a lot of "daddy long legs" in my frontal area and it will take time for them to grow and fill out my hair's fullness. I been noticing a tine bald spot in front of my hair, I always covered it by making my hair longer but whenever I cut my hair with scissors It becomes obvious to the eye, and in my family we dont have baldness so Im pretty sure I got this issue from stress and I been having stress issues since I was like 16 years old. Mora Hi there, sounds like they’re very well could be a male pattern hair loss scenario happening here. Your testosterone peaks between ages 18 and 24. At that time DHT also begins to increase as well as well as change the ratio of estrogen and testosterone. That is likely a portion of the culprit. Additionally there may be a vitamin D3 or iron issue at play. I would recommend that you go to our website and take the quiz. Then you can let me know what the quiz says are the reasons for your loss. I can instruct you further at that point. www.advancedtrichology.com

Hi, I've had unexplained all over hair shedding for over 7 yrs. I have Crohn's disease and a Iliostomey. The Drs keep saying they don't know what it is and just be patient. But I've had to cut my once long, thick hair into a jaw length Bob for 5 yrs now and I detest it so much. I'm only 32 and I would love to have my hair back!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi doc , im going through a massive hair loss in 2 month, it all started a year ago when I got some patches on beard ( alopicia barbe probably) and after 7 month of dealing with it now I have a massive hair loss, the dermatologist told me I have male pattern baldness but I don't think it's right it feels more like telogen, what's your opinion about it?

Hi Ben the way you describe is what happened to me. My dermatologist did a biopsy and I had developed alepicia areata and TE. Yes I had real emotional experience unbelievable I had to move. Blah blah blah. I have other bad things terribly, but I am 64 year old woman. And I had my doctor check to see if I had covid at some point. She did a blood test, and yes, it came back i had COVID they say approximately2 to 3 months later youll start loosing hair in different ways. I went bald on top of my head and back I obviously am asystem, show no signs of being sick. So being Vax 3 times kept me from having symptoms. So because of this I studied alot and it said alot of people will loose a patch on there beard or places on there head. And some beard hair and head hair comes back. But gray. I had steroid shots. And using rogaine and I am growing hair back. It has taken 9 months . But it's growing. Take care . Just thought I would throw that information you're way

@@jyotisteelfabricationcould be covid. That's what happened to me. I went bald on top of my head and back of head and I had someone suggest to have my doctor check to see if I had COVID in the past. And my test came back positive. Then after that men seem to loose patches on there beard. And head. But some grows back but comes back gray. But everyone has been using rogaine. Kinda expensive. So a good essential oil like rosemary, been proven to be effective. But you have to add something to it to dilute. Google different essential oils to add. I chose honobia . Rosemary stimulates blood flow and disinfect scalp. And honobia conditions.

@@JozieWales420 Thank you for sharing this with me, and I'm sorry for just seeing your comment now. I empathize with your situation and it's great to hear that your hair is growing back. However, I'm still struggling with my own hair loss /: it seems to worsen every month. Despite consulting multiple dermatologists who suspect telogen effluvium, I haven't found any effective solutions. Honestly, it's disheartening not having a clear answer or solution.

I am sure an esthetic surgery has cause me some type of thinning but it doesnt exactly follows these rules so may i ask ,ls it possible after trauma, that the effluvium release happens immediately the first month, followed bt a prolonged period of gradual thinning without significant hairloss? or to paraphrase, is it nesecary everything happens in this order and timeline of "3 months-a lot of shedding- rest-regrowth"?

Yup, this truly works. I've been using the serum of reactivate by liittllexttra, and it's effective. My hair has started to grow, especially in areas where I've had persistent issues. Along with aloe vera and amla, the serum is the new addition to my hair routine that has finally shown results after years of trying different oils. Additionally, at the end of the week, instead of throwing out the tea leaves, I use them as a hair rinse during my weekly wash routine.

I had a stroke in August 2020 about 5-7 months after I noticed my scalp was itching like crazy then I noticed as the months went by my hair was shedding excessively. I finally went to a dermatologist and I diagnosed myself but needed to get a confirmed medical diagnosis which was seborrheic dermatitis. And telegenic effluvium. I was given meds (steroids) to combat this which really hasn’t helped much. Which the doctor has reaffirmed that my hair will grow back. I’m now going to search for some hair growth supplements which I will consult with my primary care doctor to make sure they are safe to ingest.

Gio J Hi Gio, Telogen effluvium only occurs when there is a trauma whether it be physical or emotional and the telogen effluvium would start approximately 3 to 4 months after the onset of the trauma. It may be the trigger and then there are additional factors that maintain the momentum of the loss there after. Have you gone on our website and taken the quiz yet?
