    There's also one more thing for the salaried people but that depends on your company called the car lease component. If you have a car in the name of your parents, you can claim that you have leased it for company use and also show one of your parent as a driver and that component of your salary becomes non taxable, similarly a component of your salary is also "fuel expenses" which you can get waived off after submitting fuel receipts.

    Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava said that as the government seeks to transition to cleaner vehicles, it needs to gauge the economic status of the majority of the population to ensure the revival of the local automobile industry. “The GST rates in India are more than double that of the European Union, Japan or the US, and given the lower income levels in India, the question of affordability comes in,” he said.
    One-time road tax in states adds another 8-9%, taking the overall rate to 37-38% on cars. “Do we need these kinds of high taxes?” Bhargava asked. Vehicle taxes are 19-20% in Germany and 18-22% in Japan.
    The domestic automotive industry generates nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in GST revenue, accounting for about 12% of the total GST kitty.

      I am not a finance expert but let me put this way :
      When your buy a car worth 10 lakh, and use it for lets say 10 years, you actually consumed its 'Utility' (search for it, its an economics term). Lets assume you consumed 6 lakh worth of its 'Utility' in those 10 years. Now the car carry 'Utility' worth only 4 lakh. Suppose you sold this car for 5 lakh, you still profit 1 lakh over real value of its 'Utility'.
      I guess this 1 lakh will be taxable.

    Brother need one information please. Car is a depreciated asset. If anybody sold a car with loss then how can that considered as income from other source. I think income tax department should consider that as loss.

    Sir...Most of State Govt. are charging road tax on ex showroom price which is inclusive of GST. Is it not a case a double taxation ?. I think it is bad in the eye of law. Wish somebody should challenge it before court

    In EV the cost is straight away double, whatever we will spend in the lifetime of ICE car on petrol they are taking in the beginning. On top of that battery after 7-8 years will cost you like a new entry level model 5-7 lacs. A very bad deal untill prices come down to the level of ICE engines

    • @amanrastogi6640
      @amanrastogi6640 Před 2 lety +1

      As of today the battery pack of Nexon costs 7 lakhs , it will decrease in upcoming years to 2-3 lakhs . You forgot the fuel consumption on ICE . Compare that too . An ICE costs not less than 10 rs per km including maintenance . An ev has very less maintenance cost .

    How come the money you got from selling old car is income? That old car was bought with the money after paying all the hefty Tax, then why should the money coming from depreciated asset be an income? And top of that you bought that car using the taxed income. I don't think the amount you received for selling old car would be taxed again, If so the government is doing grave injustice to its people: It would be triple/quadruple TAXATION.

      I think if you avil itc on purchase of car for registered firm on business purposes if sale of those assets you have to pay gst . In other terms if you don't avail itc of its no tax on its sales

    Rip Off & these taxes stink to High Heaven. U say that all taxes on Motor Vehicles are used for betterment of Roads & Infrastructure which does not reflect on Conditions on the ground. Further RTO collects taxes also for Road upkeep. The Poor Roads lead to Expensive Repairs on the Vehicles. Further Tolls are levied every couple of hundred Kilometers , where does that Money Go I wonder.
