  • We started the hike just passed the parking lot on forest service road 080. The snow depth was very minimal with spots of 3 ft deep up to the Twin Lakes. After the Lakes at about 5,000 ft elevation the snow started to get deep and the route started to get steep. We stayed on the Olga Kiri route keeping to the west of the ridge. Once we got to the ridge the snow was pretty compact and very deep. In sections it was icy and crampons were very helpful. We followed the ridge to the top. The other member in my party did not make the summit because his dog did not want to continue up the steep slope to the ridge. I was able to reach the summit with my 2 Huskies and the views were amazing.

That is not an easy hike especially in spring snow. Very cool!

Very true, that deep snow was brutal, still recovering. 😅
