Enjoying your reactions and Maiden journey. There’s also an animated short film. The song itself I think is based off the story but Is not the actual story as per the last line ...Just another when the wild wind blows.
"When The Wind Blows" was a full length animated British movie from 1986 with a title song by David Bowie. And yes, the story is a little different in that there really was a nuclear attack in the movie (and I guess in the book too, haven't read that one).

Alas, they've never played it live AFAIK. And I'm with you about Iron Maiden through to Somewhere in Time, but this was pretty effective, too. But my all time favourite Maiden song is Hallowed Be Thy Name, probably followed by Rime of the Ancient Mariner, then Powerslave, Caught Somewhere in Time, Alexander and Flight of Icarus in no specific order.
