They did! Its always better to install epoxy floors without the baseboards so the epoxy can go all the way to the walls and not butt up against the baseboards. The epoxy will bond to the baseboards so if you ever have to change them out you'll end up breaking some of the epoxy off the edges! Not good!

If you have smooth concrete do you still have to grind the concrete?

Denatured Alcohol. It gets rid of any bubbles and helps the epoxy swim more.
