    G'day guys.
    I've always got a soft spot for the XF.
    My old XF panel van had done over 760,000 when I sold it back in 2002.
    Still running the original engine and original auto. I did throw a second hand diff from the wreckers in her at about 600,000 mark.
    So thanks for sharing.
    MILKY

    That gearbox noise sounds exactly like they did from new.
    And hoping that’s the last milky we see in the XF.
    Keep up the good work boys 👍

    Sould be a bleed screw on thermostat housing and run the heater also 🤙

    I'm pretty sure there was a speedy sleeve for the selector shaft on the XF, there was a speedy sleeve for the rear main, I did lots of them in the early nineties.

    Clutch fan nut is 32mm you should be able to get the fan spanner from burson

      Hey mate, I’m about to do this for my Xf is the nut on the front of the fan behind the raidiator. Or is it the one behind the fan near the belts.

  • @dazaspc
    @dazaspc Před 2 lety

    It's a head sadly. They were a bugger to get all the air out. They used to have a bleed nipple on the thermostat housing to get the air out. Even with the big funnel on the radiator if you don't use the bleeder it will have air in it. It was a big reason why they had problems with the heads.
    It would be worth fixing though, weld up the corrosion and face.
    Did you put in another circlip? Usually on the selector shaft.

    Just another comment, I wouldn't put extractors on, fit a new healthy exhaust to the stock manifold (if it's in good nick) and leave it at that. There is no gain and only pain doing that on such an old setup. If in future you decide to hop it up, the exhaust can be tapped into easily. BTW extractors never seem to fit properly through those models and causes more problems than needed. My two bobs worth. Keep up the good work fella's.
