    Thank you for your story.
    My father was at Rethymno (then known as Retimo) in the same battle. He ended up in Stalag VIIIB after 14 months on the run.

    He’s Incredible for 103.
    A brave man who risked his life to protect freedom and democracy.
    Such a shame that most modern Australians don’t value such things anymore.

    Men like this are the true hero's and pride of Australia not the sissy footy players, we owe our deepest sympathy and gratitude to all who served this beautiful country

    My Great Grandpa also served fought in Crete he often told me how brutal that battle it was and how Brave Greek Resistance militias there against Technologically superior Wehrmacht
    He feels Honoured even if he still have Wounds on his left arms
