If you are listening In Flames's discography backwards, from the new stuff to the oldest ones, it almost looks like seeing the story of a shitty, hipsterish, alt band becoming one of the greatest Melodeath legends out there.
I agree with you. I’ve been listening In Flames since they released their first records. Jester Race and Whoracle are masterpieces. Colony comes later in the ladder of best albums 😂
@Zedrik Allen Reminds me of the RHCP concert here in Athens back in 2012. The arena was full of kids and when they started playing songs from 1995 they all went quiet, while me and my buddy were having a blast. Kinda sad, kinda cool.
Even though I'm not a fan of their new work, The Jester Race is one of the greatest metal albums of all time! Brings back memories and tears...... Respect. If I ever see them live, and they play anything from The Jester Race or Colony I will loose my shit headbanging. \m/
I dont get, why they even changed their style, when their vocalist is literally better at performing the old Songs (And, at least for me, they are more likeable...)

@@yoteslaya7296 I listened to those records, I still stand by what I said. Behind Space 99, Insipid 2000, Scorn, Colony itself are great examples. I really don't see that much difference compared to Jester or Whoracle, they're on the same level to me
Wow. I stopped listening to in Flames stuff after jester Race because of the was anders voice was shifting and eventually became I don’t know what for 20 years. This clip is great. I really did not know or think he was capable of screaming like this anymore 🤘
I’m one of the (relative) few who is a fan of both the old and new, but it’d be nice to hear a new effort harken a bit back to when Anders’ vox were more death harsh. This video proves it’s still in him. His more singing style is quite interesting, but I feel it is more studio-centric in its success. Live, it’s dicey. Regardless, In Flames, throughout its eras and lineup changes, has remained a metal force with which to be reckoned, despite what the fickle fans might suggest.
Why can't In Flames return to this sound or something closer to it? I wouldn't even mind if they did something like Unearth or Black Dahlia Murder for that matter.
Why this doesn't happen more often? Arch Enemy gives concerts in Japan with the original formation with the name of Black Earth playing the first albums and they are awesome. Why doesn't In Flames give concerts of his first albums?
It becomes a logistics issue. A lot of those guys were coming and going. Jesper was the only original person up until the end of the 2000s. They didn't have a stable lineup until Colony.
Old In Flames always has like 15 guitar tracks over eachother. Extremly hard to re-create with a 5-piece band live. This song and maybe 3-4 others are exceptions where it is possible. But even then it sounds a bit stripped down
Please In Flames, do one album to commemorate the days of old: Lunar Strain, Jester Race and Whoracle. When vocals were brutal and melodies unforgettable.
Why does he sound so god damn good on these songs still but then on the new record, I, The Mask, which is actually really good, you know he cant re create all those cleans live and its all backing tracks. Now listen to this......no backing tracks. Just him being old school as fuck.
Feels kind of weird hearing Anders screaming his low growls, which he probably hasn't done in years since the Colony Tour. He started using his high pitch screams in Clayman. I felt the band was never really the same after Jesper left. It just comes to show that he was the soul writer of the band and without him, their just another Swedish band on the bill.
Anders sounds way better singing the old stuff now but they keep on playing songs from Clayman onwards only (where he struggles to hit the notes)...It doesn't make sense
When he could scream, he really was dope for these songs... But now, dunno if because of age, he sounds like a frog both while screaming and while singing clean; he really is better at growling as of now Not by chance, they used to play these songs in screwm rather than growl, during the 2004ish era... This is really the time for them to go back to their older style, as that would be an actual change
@@Speed4Runs Anders was never, ever a good vocalist. His growled vocals are very forced and strained, you can hear it here, you can hear it in the recordings all the way up until Colony when he stopped trying to do that and used his natural voice for it; even this was poor -- listen to the records -- it's processed and layered as hell and it's never been as evident before as it is in the Clayman re-recording (and here), where he has no vocal layering to back him up.

sad but true

Sometimes im embarrassed to say my favorite album of all time is an In Flames album (Jeser Race.) Ive never seen a band fall so far.
I’m sure everyone really cares how “far” some loser on the internet thinks a band has gone. Way to go 👌
When they play these old songs you'd think they would say to themselves "jeez this is alot better than our new material" lol
🤣🤣🤣
Lol what a lame ass cynical “fan” comment. You’ll never understand what it’s like to be in a band as huge as In Flames.
So true !! 😄😎
You know a song is good when there is a mosh pit for a melodic and somewhat clean guitar instrumental.
stunning, would love to see inflames doing jester race only tour
oh damn , jester race & whoracle will be perfect for me
I would pay so much money for this

Probably the best his vocal has sounded in years. Should play more old stuff, his voice suits them so much better.
agreed here.. i'm also a big fan of new their stuff.
I love that he brought back his deep vocals for the live performances. The high vocals don't sound as good with their old stuff.
Éstas vocales son una mierda, parece mí abuelo a punto de vomitar

The jester race is the greatest. Adore this album.
He can still growl, sad he doesn't much.
Edit: Its been 2 years and this is still one of the best live vocal performances I've ever seen
Even more sad considering his clean vocals still don't seem to be as good as those of other Melodeath singers.
It’s crazy to see these comments and then comments from people that love his voice.
I would pay $100 for a new album like this. It's a good investment considering I would listen to it until I die.
